Dr. Matthew Walker was born and raised in Tahlequah, OK, and founded Downtown Family Dentistry in 2001. Dr. Walker is married to his wife Anna and resides in Tulsa, OK with their 3 children. Dr. Walker shares time between Downtown Family Dentistry and Utica Dental in Tulsa. When he is not helping patients or pursuing advanced dentistry, Dr. Walker enjoys spending time with family, mountain biking, hunting, and fishing.
Dr. Walker earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern State University and his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Oklahoma University in 2001. Dr. Walker has maintained a commitment to continuing education and has pursued advanced training in laser gum surgery (LANAP), cosmetic reconstruction, and dental implant dentistry.
Dr. John Walker married his high school sweetheart before going to dental school and is the proud father of three children. Dr. Walker is an avid cyclist and mountain biker. He also loves to play guitar, as long as no one is listening.
Dr. Walker earned his bachelor degree in organismic biology and went on to achieve his DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree from Oklahoma University College of Dentistry. Since graduation, Dr. Walker has consistently applied himself to continuing education, taking advanced courses in digital dentistry, oral pathology, implant placement and restoration.
Dr. Patel was born and raised around Dallas, Texas, which is home to triple-digit summers and arguably some of the best barbecue. From a young age, he knew he wanted to be in the health field and volunteered at local hospitals during summers. He was also part of an accelerated program in high school with an emphasis on pre-health.
Dr. Patel has always been diligent when it comes to oral hygiene, in part due to having a close relationship with his orthodontist throughout childhood. He can attribute a newfound aura of confidence due to the results of orthodontics. He strives to help others the same way he was.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Patel enjoys camping and hiking in the outdoors and going to live music events. If time, maybe even stepping up his golf skills on the weekends. He also enjoys traveling and loves to explore different cultures around the world and especially try new foods.

Dr. Walker is very caring, personable and friendly. Very professional, he explained things very well and made me feel comfortable with everything. His assistants were also very nice and professional. Would definitely recommend Family Dentistry.

I like that Dr.Walker is friendly and good natured. He pays very close attention to detail and makes sure everything is exactly as it should be . Thank you Dr. Walker. My new dentures look almost exactly like my natural teeth. The likeness is absolutely perfect .

Dr. Matthew Walker and all his staff at Downtown Family Dentistry in Tahlequah are very friendly and caring. Dr. Walker is fantastic! I have full dentures that snap on to implants. They feel great! Today I saw Dr. Matt's brother. He was very nice.

From my initial appointment getting the impressions made for a full mouth restoration where every tooth had to be crowned , Walker's downtown family dentistry is the best. From the girls who make the appointments they're very professional and courteous to the ladies in the exam rooms that get everything going and ready for the hygienist. Today was the day I had my impressions made awhile back and today 8-2-22 Dr Matt and his assistant Ms Debbie came in and got everything ready to begin. Very professional from the first greeting this morning, Debbie came to get me and I don't remember too much after sitting in the chair but was taken the very best care answering any questions I had. Dr Matt got the temporary crowns done in one day and in about 3 weeks I will come in and have the permanent crowns put on! Professional staff and service with a smile this is your place, let them fix your smile or any dental needs you may have!!
