The dental office at 533 4th Place in Solvang, CA has been a home for dentists for decades. A lineage of dental professionals including Dr. John R. Klein who began practicing in 1968 and finished his career at this very location in 2015. He built his practice with the care and confidence you look for in a local doctor, treating generations of patients.
Then in 2021, after 39 years of practicing, Dr. Pourcho decided it was his time to pass on the tourch. He wanted to bring in a local Santa Barbara County resident who would be able to provide that small town care and carry the practice for years to come.
Dr. B was born in Northridge, CA but was brought up in a small city in Southeast Michigan. Before dentistry he worked in the banking and hospitality industries, starting with his first job as a dishwasher at the age of 14. After high school graduation and a year at Michigan State University, he decided that Michigan winters were still too cold and made the choice to head back to his native California.
Since 2004, Dr. B has been a resident of Santa Barbara County. These days he lives at his home with his dog, Koozie, and 3 Nigerian Dwarf Goats, Dusty, Lucky, and Ned, in the Santa Ynez Valley, enjoying the picturesque landscapes, bountiful vineyards, and a relaxed living.
For his undergraduate education, Dr. Brugnone attended Michigan State University, SBCC, and CSU: Channel Islands where he earned his B.S. in Biology. Subsequently, he attended the NYU College of Dentistry and graduated with honors, including advanced training in TMJ therapy. He has practiced in Santa Barbara and Ventura counties alongside some of the most influential mentors. He utilizes state-of-the-art technology and evidence-based dentistry to provide his patients with the most current and accepted practices in the dental field.

I was in town for the long Labor Day weekend and had busted the tooth under my crown the day we left but didn't quite realize it. By Saturday afternoon I was in quite a bit of pain and was looking for an emergency dentist appointment. The first call I made required that you be an existing patient to be seen. The second call to Downtown Dental there was hope! The answering machine had you call another number to leave a message. But LO and behold someone picked up on the second ring!!! It was the Dr. Himself! I told him my story of woe and he told me to meet him at the office in an hour. 45 minutes later he texted me to say he was ready for me. I walked in and from that first moment I felt relaxed and certain it would get fixed! He was concerned right from the beginning of that phone call to when I left the office and beyond for my pain level and comfort. I can not thank him enough for being so gentle and thoughtful! He would certainly be my regular dentist if I lived in the area!

Dr Robert at Downtown Dental is my hero. He literally saved my weekend by seeing me after hours to help me with a terrible tooth ache. He was so kind, nurturing and gave me a good path forward to solve the issue. Highly recommend Bobby and the team!

Dr. Brugone is one of the best ever! I drive from Santa Barbara. My wife is the same. I literally had a emergency and he called me a referral to see me in an hour. I won't be going anywhere else.

Had my front tooth knocked out by a dog at work and Dr. Brugnone was able to find a time slot for me last minute. Him and his staff were all absolutely amazing and did an amazing job. I will be going back to him and his team from from now on.

Downtown dental squeezed me in next day. Dr. Brugone fixed 4 superficial cavities and 1 that was in burning pain. 2 hrs later i became a regular patient. I live in SB and make the drive if that's an indicator!

I went to dental school with Dr. Robert Brugnone and he is one of the most honest people I have ever come across. I trust him fully as an individual and professional, and I am so proud of all he has accomplished. Honestly, I would see him myself if I lived closer to his location. As a fellow doctor, I wholeheartedly vouch for Dr. Brugnone. Miss you buddy, hope all is well.

After years of feeling self conscious about my smile I built enough courage to seek professional help. Dr. Brugnone and his office staff are truly one of kind.
