A native of China, Dr. Tony Lu made the United States his home since 2001. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from the Case Western Reserve University, where he was honored with the Deans Award for Academic Excellence.
Before transitioning to dentistry, Dr. Lu was a skilled experimental biologist, studying proteins important for several human diseases. Eventually, his deep desire to improve human health in a more direct way led him to dentistry a career he loves and a choice that he affirms every day. In addition to his core dental expertise, Dr. Lu has received extensive training in dental implants, Invisalign Clear Braces, and other cosmetic procedures.
When not practicing dentistry, Dr. Lu enjoys spending time with his wife, their children, and their retired racing greyhound. He has a special place in his heart for greyhounds and is an avid supporter of greyhound rescue missions.
Dr. Lu truly wants to know his patients and views them as individuals, not simply a set of teeth. He believes in providing gentle and effective care, tailored to the needs and financial ability of every patient. Dr. Lu: Hi guys, today I want to share my vision and philosophy for the practice with you guys. So, we want to treat everybody like friends, so whoever walks in through the door will be welcomed in a very friendly environment. Theres no judgment whatsoever. And we perform modern dentistry here, and we utilize many cutting-edge technologies in the office. So, we try our best to educate our patients about the current condition of their oral health, and we try to help them improve their oral health to the optimum level. And we present to them what is needed for their treatment. And we are also very transparent about our professional fees, and the patient will know the cost before any treatment is done. And Kris, as a team, we do a lot of trainings and I want to make sure we can improve our patient care constantly, such as we do the daily morning huddle and the weekly training.
A: So, when I was younger, my mom used to take me to the dentist every six months for my cleanings and check-ups. And the hygienists, they were very nice to me and when they were checking my mouth for cavities, which was kind of embarrassing, the doctor used to call-out a number like, you know, 32, MOB, 7, BOC Im like, What is he talking about? Like, I found it interesting because I wanted to know what was going on in my mouth and they are not really explaining, theyre just saying, Youve got cavities and Im just like What does that mean?
So, ever since then, I stashed a little interest in it, but my original plan was to be an interior designer. When I got to high school, they had a career fair going on and I saw the dentists booth and I was really interested in that, and I signed up and the rest is history.
A: Well, when Im not in this beautiful office, I like to be outside, doing adventurous things, like taking pictures, going to different, you know, parks, looking at waterfalls, listening to music, different things like that.

Hi, I am Chris. Welcome to Downtown Dental Services. This is Dr. Tony Lus office and I am one of his assistants here we are going to give you a virtual tour of the office. So this is our reception room, it was decorated by our lovely receptionist Jen here she would be happy to answer any questions about treatment planning or financial questions with you.
This is our first operatory, we actually offer Invisalign in our office, so if you are considering getting your teeth straightened we can actually do a 3D scan, and get a model of your teeth and you can see the before and after what your teeth would look like after Invisalign. This is our second operatory we actually look out over Euclid avenue they are doing lots of construction but things are definitely improving. At our office, we also offer anti-noise headphones, so if you have any dental anxiety you can feel free to listen to your music or music off the Pandora we offer here. You can also watch a show on Netflix; we do have a subscription to them.
And here we have our 3rd operatory we do a lot of cleanings in our office towards the back of the room here and the 4th room is our final operatory. My experience at this dental office was AMAZING! Heather cleaned my teeth, she's so gentle and friendly, Dr. Lu explains everything so thoroughly and I can tell he cares a lot about his patients and staff. AJ was awesome, she created such a bright environment and was so helpful when discussing treatment. I'm a big fan

I would like to share my experience at the best dentist's office in the world! I would like to start by saying the decor is calm, cozy, and soothing. The staff is great and very accommodating. Dr. Lu came through and exceeded my expectations once again. I chipped a tooth and it was bad enough that it actually required a crown due to the amount of decay and the size of the chip. So of course I have a million thoughts running through my mind when a crown was mentioned, but Dr. Lu gives very thorough and honest explanations. Along with this, he also doesn't have hidden charges, so what you see on the invoice is what you're paying...nothing more or less unless absolutely required! The other amazing benefit about this office is that you'll see the same hygienist every time you go, so you develop a good patient-caregiver relationship, and with only one doctor, you're not questioning about who you'll see the next visit.

To begin, every time I walk into downtown dental they greet you immediately by name which is a pleasant and personal. The Invisalign treatment from Dr Lu was very good. My teeth look night and day better. Dr. Lu is always on time and does a great job with the treatment and everything went perfectly. Lastly, Aj does an amazing job reaching out and keeping up to date the payments and insurance. Everyone I encountered at Downtown Dental was extremely friendly. Every bit of going to DT dental was very smooth from scheduling, paying and getting the work done.

I absolutely love it here! The team at Downtown Dental helped me feel comfortable catching up on my dental health. I ended up getting Invisalign to help my bite and Dr. Lu made the process so simple and easy to follow. They smile when you walk through the door which is not something that happens too often these days. They are a kind, safe, and amazing group of people. Honestly this might have been the nicest dentist experience I've had. Firstly, they were very available--were able to get me in for an appointment in less than three weeks. They were also very accommodating of my needs. Dr. Lu was very informative and discussed everything with me, Shelby the dental hygienist gave probably one of the most gentle cleanings I've ever had and had lots of information about home care to keep my teeth healthy, Wilson the office assistant was very welcoming, and AJ the office manager extremely kind and helpful. You can tell they care about taking care of their patients' health and oral wellness, not just doing whatever procedures they can. They also validate parking so don't be deterred by the downtown location. Highly recommend!

I recently finished my Invisalign process and I highly recommend this place for it. Everyone who works here is very warm/friendly and Dr. Lu explains everything in detail and ensures that you are in good hands. I always feel comfortable coming into here, and it has always been a great experience!

As unprofessional a medical office as I've ever encountered. The front desk receptionist was ineffective and was then gossiping when I walked out of the office, but could hear her through the door. I highly recommend staying away.

As a patient of Downtown Dental Services for the past several years, I've always found the office to be friendly, accommodating, professional and mindful of my time. I recently just finished Invisalign and am very happy with my results. Dr. Lu and Krissy made things very easy and worked with me on my timeline leading up to my wedding. I'd highly recommend this practice to anybody looking for a dentist in the downtown Cleveland area or who is interested in undergoing the Invisalign treatment.

I had a great first cleaning and exam here. I was able to schedule it and fill out all my forms online. The staff was extraordinarily friendly and professional. They were able to start seeing me over 10 minutes before my appointment was scheduled to begin, so I even got out a bit early. I will absolutely be coming back here in 6 months.
