Dr. Jimmy grew up in Southern Illinois and completed his undergraduate studies at Southeast Missouri State University. Before his dental education at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry, he and his wife Maggie lived in Brazil for 5 years serving with a college ministry. With a continued desire to not only care for others, but to also create and restore with his hands, he decided dentistry was a perfect fit. After dental school Dr. Jimmy, his wife, and four children moved to Lafayette, Indiana, to be closer to family and to be an active part in the diverse Greater Lafayette community as a dentist.
Dr. Jimmy loves to take the time needed to be an advocate for a persons overall health. This can take place anywhere from a childs first dental visit to listening to an adults questions concerning the need for complex restorative dental treatment. He enjoys a team approach to dentistry where care, openness, and trust help effectively provide the patient with the best experience.
Committed to lifelong education as a medical professional, Dr. Jimmys involvement with Spear Education and the local Spear Innovative Study Club allows him to stay on the cutting edge of dentistry and to effectively collaborate with other medical and dental specialists. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, Indiana Dental Association, and West Central Dental Society.
In his free time, Dr. Jimmy is an avid fisherman, a passion he has passed on to his daughters. His whole family enjoys trips down Wildcat Creek, March Madness, bike rides, and spending time with neighbors and their local homeschooling and church community.
I graduated from Ivy Tech in 2014 and have been pursuing the dental field ever since. The part I love most about my job is building the everlasting relationship with the patients. I am happily married with two amazing children. In my free time, I enjoy reading, crafting, and spending time with my family.
I attended Ivy Tech and graduated in 2020 with my expanded functions certification. I love the relationships I establish with our patients at Downtown Dental. I am the youngest of four and love spending time with my family. Outside the office, I enjoy running, cycling, and baking. I also love to travel and rock climb at climbing gyms.
I recently moved from Huntsville, Alabama where I worked as a Pediatric Dental Assistant. My favorite part about my job is helping people achieve their goals and be confident in their smile! I love the relationships I have formed with our patients and their families. Most of my free time is spent at Alexander Field, watching my boyfriend play baseball for Purdue. If I am not at the baseball field, I am cuddling with my sweet dog Charlie.
I received my dental hygiene license from the Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2010. Throughout my career, I have developed strong relationships with our patients as I promotes beautiful smiles. My passion for each patients health journey is what drives me to deliver the best care in all situations. My husband and three children provide extra incentive as I strive to be my best. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my extended family, friends and church group and traveling to national and international locations with a fondness of challenging hiking trails and lazy beaches.

Wonderful experience with Dr. Lutz and his whole staff. I am not a fan of going to the dentist but everyone went out of their way to make me feel comfortable. Dr. Lutz spent an exceptional amount of time explaining to me all of his findings and addressed every one of my questions and concerns. I'm actually looking forward to my return visit. I can't believe I just typed that :)

I had a very positive experience at Downtown Dental. As an international student, it was my first time going to the dentist in the greater Lafayette area and I was not sure about which dental office to choose. However, after talking on the phone with the assistant personnel I was confident this was the right place to go. They treated me with a lot of kindness and professionalism that, even though it was my first time, I felt security trying it. Now I am starting my teeth treatment and I hope it goes as well as it went at the first appointment.

Wow. I truly don't know how a dental experience could get any better. It's been years since I've been to the dentist (historically, I've had pretty decent teeth), but I started having some tooth pain and decided it was finally time to go. My wife has gone to Dr. Lutz for her teeth for the past several years, and she's had nothing but incredible things to say about her experience, so Downtown Dental was a no-brainer for me. Based on the things I'd heard about Downtown Dental, I expected it to be really good...maybe even great (but c'mon, it's a dentist, right? How can it be GREAT to go to the dentist?!). Suffice it to say that my expectations were blown away. The curtesy and friendliness of the staff is refreshing, the equipment is cutting edge and makes the process as streamlined and painless as possible, the overall atmosphere and decor is a perfect blend of the modern/antique that's very calming and clean, and their billing structure is very transparent and fairly priced. But the "secret sauce" is Dr Lutz's ability to be very relational and highly skilled. It's not difficult to find professionals with one trait or the other, but it's increasingly rare to meet people who are able to do both things at the same time. He really cares about his patients, and he has the skills and tools to help at a reasonable price. 10/10 will recommend to friends and family!

I appreciated the time Dr. Jimmy took to explain what was going on with my teeth, what causes of different problems were and possible solutions. I felt equipped to make informed decisions, and I like that. On top of that, the cost was less than I expected.

Dr. Jimmy and his staff are so welcoming. Walking in you can't help but have any worries or fears be washed away. Courtney is always so quick to welcome me into the office. Stephanie, my hygienist, is so professional yet personable. Today I had two toddlers in tow and she not only cleaned my teeth well but helped keep them corralled and happy. When Dr. Jimmy comes in to do the exam he always makes sure to address any questions or concerns while also making me feel confident in my smile. This team goes above and beyond each time and I'm so thankful to be apart of the Downtown Dental family!

On a scale of 1 to 10, this Downtown Dental team is BEYOND the number 10! From the moment I walked into their offices, I was met with a professional sincerity as a team. Downtown Dental professionals are accessible - offering 24-hour emergency service and scheduling to meet your needs. The atmosphere of the office is welcoming and professional. From Dr. "Jimmy" to Kourtney, the office manager, to all the dental professionals in the practice, each makes you feel like you have just made a new friend. I have never experienced such a responsive practice. Dr. "Jimmy" provided a comprehensive review of my current dental health and offered solutions to meet my budget. I had several chipped and problem teeth. Dr. "Jimmy" and his staff of professionals worked to get my gums healthy and provide a beautiful smile for me. Dr Jimmy and his team at Downtown Dental are fantastic, family friendly, and very gentle. My family of 7 go there and our kids actually get excited about going to the dentist. But it isn't just fluff, Jimmy seems to know his stuff, and is really good at catching things before they become issues. The care and professionalism at Downtown dental is first rate. FINALLY - A high-quality, caring, comprehensive, and reasonably-priced dental office. I was instantly welcomed by Kourtney not only when I walked in the door for my appointment but even prior when I called to set up my appointment. There were no surprises and everything was clearly communicated prior to and during my visit. Stephanie was knowledgeable, thorough, and genuinely listened to my concerns. I received an excellent dental cleaning with care for sensitive areas, and tailored useful pointers for maintaining dental hygiene that are not a generic "brush your teeth." Dr. Jimmy was polite, straightforward, and willing to answer complex questions during and after my oral exam. Future treatment recommendations were explained clearly, and felt like a conversation on what I want as a patient. At the end of my visit Maddie made sure I understood the financial aspect of my future treatment and thoughtfully answered my questions. I am for the first time happy with the dental treatment I received, and do not dread going back. A few additional points - the entire office was visibly clean, every person I met introduced themself and allowed me to do the same, all my questions were answered, I was offered water and made to feel comfortable, when I spoke I was listened to, and my teeth are in better condition now than when I walked in. Do not hesitate to go to Downtown Dental! UPDATE: My appointment with Dr. Jimmy assisted by Kimberly to receive two fillings went incredibly well. A lot of care and attention was paid to making sure I was comfortable and completely numb. Every step was explained as it happened, and there is even a TV on the ceiling with streaming to help you stay calm/distracted from the dental work. I am happy with the service I received, and will still be going back! :)

Everyone in this place is amazing . I have had two cleanings and a crown and all three times I didn't want to leave ! The fitting for the crown was spot on . James did a amazing job making my new crown . I have other dentist put crowns in none of the compare to this one
