Dr. Gaunt is proud to be a native of Spokane. He grew up in the Wandermere area and went to Mount Spokane High School. As the son of a dental hygienist and the grandson of a dentist, he decided after much prayer and discernment to pursue his career in the footsteps of those great role models in his life. After moving to Bellingham and Glendale for school, he welcomed the opportunity to return home to Spokane to raise his family and serve his community as a dentist. He is married with a growing family. In his free, time Dr. Gaunt enjoys camping, hiking, sports, reading, barbequing, date nights with his wife, wrestling with his kids, watching the Seahawks, and volunteering with high school youth ministry.
Professionally, Dr. Gaunt is very passionate and committed to dentistry. In order to provide patients with a greater range of services, he has traveled all over the country to receive advanced training in dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, root canals, extractions, and more. He has found a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry, and he finds few things more professionally rewarding than transforming the smile of someone who was once embarrassed to show their teeth. He is a perfectionist who always ensures you receive the highest level of quality treatment possible.
Dr. Gaunts practice philosophy is to give everyone the same level of concern and high-quality care that he would give to his family. He is committed to ensuring you always receive an honest and accurate diagnosis, and that all necessary treatment is done as gently and conservatively as possible. You and your desires, needs, and concerns are Dr. Gaunts top priority, and he promises to give of himself without reserve to ensure you are well taken care of.

I will give you options and treatment alternatives so that you can choose a plan that makes the most sense to you. I will perform all procedures as gently and minimally invasively as possible. RUN! Don't walk to Downriver Smiles. As a person who has struggled with dental anxiety since childhood, I could not recommend this dental office and their people more. I would give them a ten star if I could. From the moment I filled out my new patient paperwork until walking out of their front door, I was made to feel welcomed, cared for and at ease. The new patient paperwork addresses not only physical needs for your visit, but for those of us who struggle with these visits, they address the physiological aspect as well. Aubrey at the front desk was helpful with and knowledgeable about scheduling, insurance and otherwise. She had great communication skills and made me feel welcome. Tabitha was the most meticulous, thorough and best dental hygienist I've ever had. Never in my life have I had a cleaning done for me before yesterday. She was thorough and so, so sweet. She didn't ask questions but kept conversation without talking about herself a whole lot (somehow) and was very personable. Tabitha, you are amazing at what you do! Then enter Dr. Gaunt. Once you meet him, you realize why his staff is so incredible. He is not only a dentist, but a gentle leader. Him and Tabitha worked together to look over my mouth and make sure no fine detail was missed. They addressed some things I had suspicions about and other things that I would have had no clue existed. His exam was extensive and informative. Nothing felt rushed and everyone seemed so dedicated to their job and patients. If there is even one thing you don't care for about your current dentist/dental office, make the switch to Downriver Smiles NOW so you can start receiving the dental care we all deserve.

I had such a wonderful experience. I had to have a tooth extracted and was very nervous. After conversation with the assistant and Dr about my procedure they made me feel so relaxed and safe. It went very smooth and I even got a call that evening from the Dr. To check on how i was doing! Thank you

We have been at Downriver Smiles for many years. Dr. Gaunt came on many years later and he has been a trustworthy and professional dentist that we appreciate. I would have to say this is the healthiest my teeth have ever been in my 56 years. We have always been pleased with Dr. Gaunt and I would give him 5 stars but over the years the front staff has changed and in the past we always knew if there was going to be any charges before the treatment was done. Over the last several years we have had some surprise charges. They were confusing and were not expected. I trust they will get those kinks worked out.

Kind and friendly. Dentists, hygienists and staff alike all treat you like a human being instead of just a paying mouth. I've had two rough-edged lower front teeth for years. Where other dentists just smoothed the edges a little, Dr. Gaunt cared enough to fix them permanently.

I've been to quite a few Detal offices in the Spokane and Idaho area & Nine Mile as well & Downriver Smiles is The Absolute Best place to Go for All your Dental Care!
