A northwest Ohio native, Dr. Nathan Downey grew up in Whitehouse and attended Anthony Wayne High School. He earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at The Ohio State University,then completed a general practice residency at the University of Toledo Medical Center, where he received a Master of Sciencein biomedical sciences.
Dr. Downey completed a fellowship at the University of Florida in orthodontics before graduating from The Ohio State University orthodontic residency program with his specialty certificate and Master of Sciencein oral biology.
During Dr. Downeys training, he was active in various orthodontic materials research projects thatresulted in scientific presentations at the International Association of Dental Research. Dr. Downeys passion to provide the best care for his patients is evident in the numerous continuing education courses he attends.
Dr. Downey is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Great Lakes Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association (ADA), the Ohio Dental Association, the Toledo Dental Society, and the Cleveland Society of Orthodontists. Heis also actively involved in the community and supports many programs and schools.Orthodontics gives Dr. Downey an opportunity to make a positive change in the lives of his patients, but it also enables him to be a strong member of his community.
When not engaged in his favorite activity (creating beautiful smiles), Dr. Downey enjoys spending time with his wifeJennifer andtheir daughters, doing family activities, downhill skiing, hiking, playing tennis, and traveling.
