Dr. McAndrews is dual board certified by both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology. He has also been inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a prestigious surgical society that maintains the highest standards for surgical education and practice across all surgical specialties.
He is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, International College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the Los Angeles Dental Society. He is licensed by the State of California in Dentistry and in General Anesthesia.
Dr. McAndrews is also a Clinical Assistant Professor and maintains privileges at USC/LAC Medical Center, Keck Medical Center of USC and Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC where he continues to educate and mentor the residents. He practices the full scope of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery, including the use of ambulatory intravenous anesthesia, orthognathic surgery, facial trauma, pathology, reconstructive surgery, removal of third molars (wisdom teeth) and management of other impacted teeth, placement of dental implants, and complex bone grafting. His residency included extensive training in outpatient and inpatient general anesthesia, which allows him to provide these procedures in a pleasant and comfortable manner.
He is committed to giving back to his profession and community. Dr. McAndrews lectures regularly to students, residents, and his peers; he has authored several scientific papers and contributed chapters to textbooks. He has received awards from the American Society of Pediatric Dentistry, USC Mobile Clinic, Young & Healthy, and the University of Southern California. In 2016, Dr. McAndrews was recognized by the USC School of Dentistry for his 25 years of Outstanding Service.
Dr. McAndrews supports at risk and underserved children and youths through his volunteer service with Homeboy Industries, Young & Health of Pasadena, and St. Michael's School of south-central Los Angeles. Dr. McAndrews served as the chair of St. Michael's School Advisory Board. He currently serves on the St. Pius X - St. Matthias Academy Advisory Board and supporting the needs of Don Bosco Technical Institute.

They did such an amazing job! And was so nice and considerate! Was asleep and woke up just fine I woke up crying happy tears because I was so nervous before hand. They had many payment options and was considerate toward my budget! Will definitely come back again if I ever need to!

Dr. James McAndrews was very professional and prompt. He also puts patients and their family and friends completely at ease. My wisdom teeth were extracted seamlessly. My gums and teeth didn't even hurt at all the weeks after! He is an amazing oral surgeon that everyone should go too!

Dr. James McAndrews was very professional and prompt. He also puts patients and their family and friends completely at ease. My wisdom teeth were extracted seamlessly. My gums and teeth didn't even hurt at all the weeks after! He is an amazing oral surgeon that everyone should go too!

Best oral surgeon in Los Angeles! Got all four of my wisdom teeth removed with no swelling and was back in action a day later. Very lucky I came across Dr. James McAndrews and will recommend to anyone that needs their wisdom teeth pulled!

I had an excellent consult with Dr. Mc Andrews. There was a little mix-up with my bill, which I couldn't reconcile with his assistants. Once Dr. Mc Andrew stepped in, the matter was resolved. He is a fair and honest oral surgeon.

First visit for extraction referred to by my dentist. Friendly staff. Dr McAndrews was patient in answering my questions and very reassuring. Had opted for anaesthesia and provedure went well. Pleasant experience and recovery was much less painful than I had expected.
