Dr. Dovorany is married, with three boys. He currently lives in Wausau, WI with his wife, Renee, and their three sons: Nick, Charlie, and Frank. He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling to see his boys play hockey, and entertaining friends and colleagues. He is an avid hunter and fisherman who loves the great outdoors. Each member of Dr. Dovoranys family has worn braces, including Dr. Dovorany himself! This means that he completely understands the unique challenges and advantages of wearing orthodontic braces.
Dr. Dovorany has been practicing orthodontics in Wausau for 25 years, and is a member of several local, state, national, and international dental and orthodontic associations. He is the presiding President of the Spear Study Club in Central Wisconsin, and devotes an extraordinary amount of his time exchanging knowledge and collaborating with dental peers on patient care. He is also a provider for the Smiles Change Lives organization, a nonprofit through which donated orthodontic treatment is provided for certain segments of the underserved population.
Braces create small ledges, nooks and crannies for food deposits, which can lead to cavities and gum problems if you dont do a good job of brushing and flossing. Brush and floss thoroughly, but gently, so that you do not break or loosen your arch wires or brackets.
All Dovorany patients complete the retention phase of orthodontic treatment. This is the phase after the braces are removed, when they can move from their corrected position. To prevent this from happening, patients typically wear a removable retainer full time for three months, then at night for nine months. A bonded retainer is worn permanently.
During the first year of retention, you will still visit our orthodontic office periodically. After the first year of retention, you no longer need to visit our office, but it is your responsibility to wear your retainer as Dr. Dovorany prescribes.
A Rapid Maxillary Expander (RME) helps widen a patients upper jaw over time, by widening the patients palate. A parent or patient adjusts the Expander daily, according to Dr. Dovoranys instructions. Once the palate has been widened enough, the Expander is left in place for about four months without further adjustment.

I had to get braces due to an open bite. Thankfully, my issue has been resolved after a year of wearing braces. Dr Dovorany and his team have been great and I would definitely recommend them. Great customer service and I'm glad that my issue was able to be resolved without surgical intervention.

Horrible experience. They may know how to deal with teeth but they do not know how to deal with people. Especially if you suffer from any sort of mental illness like anxiety or depression. I'm 33 and still wearing my retainer every night because for the past 20 years I have been refused a permanent retainer. I either want that or to just be given my records (since they're all on paper from what I've been told) so I can go somewhere better and much more compassionate and understanding. When I've called to address this I've been dismissed. I cannot tell you how much better off you'd be somewhere else.

We have had 4 kids go through orthodontics with Dovorany. Although a small car payment in each of their mouths, it was well worth it. The results were as predicted. The staff is professional, friendly and very helpful. I would recommend Dr. Dovorany to anyone and I have!
