Dr. Lerner takes great personal pride in each team member's training and capabilities. We also think that kids are cool. One of our main interests is to provide the highest possible quality care in a setting that children of all ages can enjoy. We accomplish this through complete understanding and a sense of compassion for children's dental needs. We are also committed to provide individual attention to children who need special care.
We have a team of registered dental hygienists on board to meet every aspect of preventative care we encounter. Our hygienists and assistants have been with Gardner Family Dental Care for many years. One of our major goals is to make every patient's experience a comfortable and pleasant one. Competence and caring are just two of the priorities our hygiene staff has in taking care of our patients.
Dr. Douglas Lerner is a Gardner dentist with a long-standing history in the Kansas City area. Dr. Lerner grew up in Overland Park and completed his undergraduate study at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. He worked at the outpatient dental clinic and operating room at Childrens Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO before earning his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry in 2007. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Kansas Dental Association, and the Academy of General Dentistry. As an Eagle Scout, he enjoys the outdoors, working out, traveling, and spending time with his fiance Jen.

I am confused by the unprofessional behavior by this office. I waited 2 months to get my child an appointment. The day before the appointment I received a voice mail saying the doctor wanted to change my daughters appointment from 4:30 pm to 8:30 am. I called back and said that I could not because I have multiple children I would have to take with me at that time for her appointment. I was very respectful. I received another call saying they were canceling my daughters appointment we had been waiting months for. No explanation, no conversation. They didn't even try to offer other times or to come in another day. I couldn't do the 8:30 am change day before appointment so they canceled my appointment and told me to go to a new dentist. It was really odd, and unprofessional. This is the only dentist In Gardner that takes our insurance. So now my daughter has to wait possibility months to schedule with a new dentist.

Best dentist I have ever been to. Did a great job for my cleaning and fixing a cavity. Didn't make me feel bad for having a problem and everything about my visit was really thorough and comfortable.

My wife and I have have been receiving dental care from Family Dental Care in Gardner for over ten years. We have consistently received excellent care. We have routine visits twice a year, with very thorough and gentle cleanings each visit and dental x-rays once a year. Recently, one of my gold crowns came loose, and Dr. Lerner scheduled me quickly and was able to clean up a small amount of decay and replace the crown. I have never had to go to a specialist for dental work. Dr. Lerner has handled simple extractions, a denture, a few cavities, and three instances of remounting crowns. We recommend Dr. Lerner and his great staff without hesitation.
