Dr. Rastetter was born and raised in Iowa. He attended the University of Iowa for both his undergraduate studies and dental school. After graduating, he completed a general practice residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis. He has been practicing in Des Moines since the summer of 2000.
Des Moines, IA (June 29th, 2013) The Academy of General Dentistry (AGD) is pleased to announce that Dwight Rastetter, DDS, FAGD, of Johnston, IA, received the associations Fellowship Award during the AGD 2013 Annual Meeting & Exhibits, held from June 27 to 30 in Nashville, Tenn.
The AGD Fellowship Award is presented to dentists who seek to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession. To accomplish this goal, Dr. Rastetter completed 500 hours of continuing dental education, passed a comprehensive exam, and fulfilled three years of continuous membership in the AGD.
We are proud to honor Dr. Rastetter for his commitment to the profession, says AGD President Linda J. Edgar, DDS, Med, MAGD. He has distinguished himself professionally among his peers and is a role model for both fellow dentists and community members of Des Moines.

The dentist purposefully overbooks himself then complains and says "I need to get these monkeys off my back" when the hygienists and techs need him to review their work. I have several small children and can only come in when my husband is off. His schedule varies so I would often have to reschedule the appointments the office urged me to make 6 months in advance. They never mentioned this as a problem and I always called 3-4 days in advance. On the most recent time the receptionist asks for clarification on who I am. Then had the nerve to be shocked I would ask for an appointment, transfers me to somebody else who mentions the times I had to reschedule. They never said anything before?? They were ones urging me to make an appointment. All in all it's a terribly unprofessional practice from front desk staff to finance to dr.

This office is fantastic. Very friendly, very accommodating if I have to reschedule an appointment, very professional. I always enjoy chatting with the Hygienist each time I go in. They make going to the dentist a little less intimidating. Thank you.

I have always had great care with Douglas Dental. I was a patient to the previous dentist who, too, took great care of my teeth. Seriously, I would go to no one else. Dr. Rastetter has nothing but quality, professional people who work with him as well.

My teeth are a bit mature--over 74. Nevertheless still in shape for whatever I want to eat. The dental care I get keeps my teeth ready for whatever. Can't ask for anything better. Great care makes a big difference

Kind and courteous staff! They were able to get me an appointment very quickly when I was having an issue with a tooth . At my appointment everything was explained to me before doing anything, and they were very efficient with the time- I was never waiting around for very long, but also did not feel super rushed. Highly recommend.
