Dr. Doug Huitt attended The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he double majored in Chemistry and Biology. After attending dental school at the UNC School of Dentistry, he started this dental practice in Shelby on September 15th, 1982. He is married to his wife Treasa and is blessed to have five adult children and their spouses along with eleven grandchildren with two more grandchildren on the way. Aside from dentistry, Dr. Huitt is a Biblical studies enthusiast, an avid exerciser and enjoys playing golf and enjoying time with his grandchildren. After having been in practice for over thirty years, Dr. Huitt says his favorite aspect of dentistry would have to be the relationships he has built with the patients and their families while caring for their dental needs throughout many seasons of life.

Dr. Matt Borders was born and raised in Shelby, North Carolina. He is a 1999 graduate of Shelby High; he then graduated from Wofford College in 2003 with his Bachelor of Science in Biology degree. He attended dental school at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 2007. He returned to Shelby in 2007 and has been practicing at Huitt and Borders Family Dentistry ever since. Dr. Borders loves providing excellent patient care to his pediatric and adult patients. He has been married to his wife, Lauren, for eight years and has a daughter and a son. Dr. Borders is an active member of his church and enjoys gardening in his spare time and spending time with his family.

Donna Wilson has been a Dental Assistant here for thirty four years. She has been married to Larry for thirty seven years and has two sons and two grandchildren. One of her favorite aspects about dentistry and this practice is being able to interact with the patients and their families and watch the children grow up.

Harriet Willis is another one of the fabulous Dental Hygienists on our dental team and has been a great asset to our practice. Harriet attended Central Piedmont Community College and has been practicing dental hygiene for 40 years with 29 of those years here with us at Huitt and Borders Family Dentistry. Harriet is married to Bobby and has two daughters and one granddaughter. She loves the relationships she is about to build with her patients and says that we have awesome patients at Huitt and Borders Family Dentistry. Outside of the office, Harriet enjoys sewing, crafting, and gardening and loves going to the movies.

Terry Smith has been a Dental Hygienist with us for nineteen years. She is a big Carolina fan after receiving her degree in Dental Hygiene from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has been married to John for forty years, and has two sons and three grandchildren. When not active with patient care, Terry enjoys reading, her cats and spending time with her grandchildren.

Heather Willis is another one of our Dental Assistants. She has been with our practice for eleven years. Heather enjoys her patients and the people she works with and always has a smile on her face. She received her education at North Carolina Dental Assistant Training School. She has been married to Shane for 18 years and is currently enjoying raising her niece and nephew.

Kim Spangler has been with Huitt and Borders Family Dentistry for nine years as a Dental Hygienist. She has been married to Scott for twenty five years and has two children. She obtained her Dental Hygiene degree from Catawba Valley Community College and absolutely loves being an oral healthcare provider. She provides healthy dental education to patients in our practice. When she's not cleaning teeth, Kim enjoys gardening and cooking.

Cortney Bowker has been with Huitt and Borders Family Dentistry for almost 2 years. Cortney attended Lake Norman Dental. Cortney really enjoys the working environment here at Huitt and Borders Family Dentistry and all the cosmetic dentistry that we provide to our patients. Cortney enjoys shopping, camping and cooking when she's not practicing dentistry.

Chelsea Lovelace is our newest employee at Huitt and Borders Family Dentistry. She files insurance and helps people maximize their insurance benefits. She is married to Keith and has three children. When she's not helping patients, she enjoys spending time with her family and shopping.
