Dr. Dougherty works diligently outside of his own practice with some of the best organizations in the dental community. These organizations contribute treatment to people in developing countries and educate doctors all over the world on new treatment methods and advancements in the field.
The publication in the AJO-DO is basic research to evaluate how tooth movement can be assessed with the most advanced imaging technology that is currently available. This peer reviewed journal is read by over 8000 Orthodontists in the United States and Canada, and is the standard for Orthodontic publications worldwide.
The case reports in the PCSO Journal are an extension of his teaching at USC. He presents these reports to help other Orthodontists think through the process of Orthodontic diagnosis, treatment planning, and Orthodontic appliance selection. They show before and after treatment, discuss the how's and why's of treatment with the goal of teaching others, and improving their clinical skills.

Dr. Dougherty is a real pro. The best! He is knowledgeable down to the tiniest details... he understands all factors that go into his work and has never been wrong about timing or additional services that may be needed from other dental practitioners outside of his field. He's also friendly and easy to talk to! His entire staff is welcoming and helpful, whether making an appointment or assisting during a visit. And they take you at your appointment time!! The office is bright, clean, and filled with the latest everything. He worked with both of my children pre-braces and through braces - when I wanted to treat myself to invisalign, I also had to have the best. I couldn't be happier with the results. 5 stars for Dr. Dougherty and his team!

Dr. Dougherty and his staff are world class. My situation required a complex treatment and surgery over the course of two years, complicated further by a move to LA right in the middle from out of state. I was lucky enough to find Dougherty Ortho via a referral, and I'm SO glad that I did -- not only did they correct mistakes that my previous orthodontist had made, but they meticulously corrected my smile using details/techniques that I hadn't seen at all in my previous experiences. It felt like they were treating me individually, the opposite of end of the spectrum from just slapping braces on and hoping for the best. They also helped me get connected to one of the best surgeons in the world for my procedure, and the entire process was as painless as it could've been. I'm incredibly fortunate to have been treated by the Doctors and staff here and would give six stars if I could. Thank you guys!!!

My daughter had a great experience working with Dr Doughtery. She can't stop smiling. The front staff, doctors, and all the other support staff were professional, organized, thoughtful and attentive. It was never a chore to go the office for a dr visit as they were always efficient and timely. Highly recommend Dr Doughtery. We are about to start again with my son!

It's been a huge pleasure to come to this office. We tried a few different other ortho offices before, but non of them can even a little be compared to Dr. Dougherty's office. Doctor is very knowledgeable, professional and most important for my child- he is very kind and friendly. The staff is very helpful and friendly too. It's very rare when you satisfied with everything in the office. Highly recommend!

We couldn't ask for a better Orthodontist for our son, Connor. Dr. Dougherty is a top notch professional and a great guy. The staff are all amazing at their work and the kind of folks you would love to have as a neighbor and friend. My 15yo son just got his braces off and it feels like the end of an era--all three of my boys were treated by Dr. Dougherty. With all of them, he fully explained the course of treatment, doing only what was necessary at the appropriate time to give them beautiful smiles. His staff are friendly and welcoming, and it's clear the practice invests in modern technology (how jealous was I when I found out my son didn't have to have an impression with a goo-filled tray to have his retainer fitted, but they used a 3D scan instead?). I wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Dougherty's services.

I can't say enough about Dr Dougherty and every single person who works in that office. They are amazing, kind, and supportive. My case was super complicated and Dr Dougherty took me on as a patient, fixed my teeth and my bite without surgery, which initially he thought I would need. They are the best! I am forever grateful.

Who says braces can't be fun! My 14 year old son just finished his treatment and we are thrilled. From the beginning all the way until the end we had an excellent experience. My son and I never felt embarrassed or nervous to go to each 10 minute adjustment. In the beginning, I worried about being reprimanded for improper brushing or improper rubber band usage. I have heard from other moms about their experiences with their doctors. We never had to worry. Any corrections were always done gently and in a positive manner. It really felt that this was a project we were all in together. At the end Dr. Dougherty was as excited as my son & I were to have the braces removed. Everyone in the office (and there were many staff) was always very friendly and eager to help with scheduling the next appointment. The cost was also affordable and easily managed by a low monthly payment through automatic withdrawal. If you want a painless braces experience as well as a few laughs (Doctor has a great sense of humor) Dr. Dougherty and company is where you should go.

Dr.Dougherty and his staff are amazing. They care so much and nothing was ever too much trouble. If we had a problem we could get in within a few hours. Although treatment all took a little longer than expected the results are fantastic and we are so thrilled that we went here for ortho work. The best thing you can do for your child. To smile with confidence is everything!

We love Dr. Dougherty and are grateful for the great smiles he has given our sons. He is experienced, thoughtful, communicates the process well, and gone above and beyond in his desire to help our boys have the best outcomes! He even came in for an emergency visit on a Sunday within an hour of an accident that could have resulted in the loss of my son's four front teeth. Everyone in the office has been great - they run on time, everyone is a true professional with a desire to help, and they are technologically savvy! I have read in other reviews that people think he charges more than other options, and we found that to be true 6 years ago when we started care. We went with Dr. Dougherty, however, because he inspired confidence about his ability to address our sons' challenging cases and we knew his office was an environment that we would want to spend time in. Through the years and after all of the visits - and more to come - we could not be more pleased with our investment!
