Dr. Paul Dougherty followed in the footsteps of his father to become a second-generation dentist. He is board-certified in dentistry with over 30 years of experience treating clients for all of their dental needs at his upscale La Jolla, CA office. His patients and his staff trust him, which is why many have been with him for decades.
Dr. Dougherty earned a Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology from the University of Oklahoma before moving on to dental school at OU. He graduated with honors with his doctor of dental surgery (D.D.S.) degree four years later, then returned to La Jolla to begin his career. He completed a one-year fellowship program at the Veteran Administration in San Diego, CA, and he continues to learn about advancements in the field of dentistry by completing coursework each year and integrating new technology into his dental practice.
Dr. Dougherty and his wife, Kelly, have threechildren: Ally, Jackson, and Avery. The family is very active in the La Jolla community, and they love supporting local businesses and charitable causes. Dr. Dougherty is an accomplished athlete, and his hobbies include cycling, skiing, and golf.

Dr. James Salazar was born and raised in San Diego and graduated from San Diego State University and the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry. He has been practicing general and cosmetic dentistry in San Diego since 1999. He takes great pride in his comprehensive, honest and perfectionistic approach to dentistry, caring for patients of all ages.
Dr. Salazar earned Accreditation with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) in 2011, for his excellence in cosmetic dentistry on patient cases judged by his accredited peers, an honor achieved by less than a thousand dentists worldwide. Through the AACD Accreditation process and his private practice patient cases, he has proven his exceptional skills at smile makeovers, cosmetic bonding, porcelain veneers and crowns, esthetic dental implant restorations and general dentistry.
In addition to being an Accredited Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD), he is also a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the California Dental Association (CDA), the San Diego County Dental Society (SDCDS).
He is committed to continuing education in cosmetic, general and comprehensive restorative dentistry. He keeps up with the latest technology and techniques to bring his patients the safest care and most effective long term solutions. As part of his educational pursuits, Dr. Salazar completed several levels at the Pankey Institute in Key Biscayne, FL, where he studied occlusion and esthetics. He has also completed courses at the Annual Scientific Sessions with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) since 2006. He is a member of two San Diego Spear Study Clubs and has completed several hands on courses at the prestigious Spear Education Center in Scottsdale, AZ, a center for comprehensive advanced dental education.
Dr. Salazar is a designated Invisalign Premier Provider, having completed hundreds of Invisalign cases. He enjoys working with patients through Invisalign treatment, straightening their teeth and enhancing their smiles for a lifetime of good oral health.
Dr. Salazar lives in San Diego with his wife Dr. Marnie Schreider, and their two children. His son is an accomplished mountain bike racer and his daughter a competitive dancer, both of which keep him very busy. He is an avid cyclist, mountain biker, motocross rider and enjoys snowboarding and traveling to the mountains any chance that he gets.

Andrea is a native of San Diego, and she began working at Dougherty Dental in 2000. After a few years, she was presented with an opportunity to try out living in Montana, but she returned to San Diego and rejoined Dougherty Dental in 2009. Andrea is able to help out wherever she is needed most, whether that includes assisting Dr. Dougherty (her favorite job), greeting and helping patients at the front desk, or sorting out paperwork in the administrative office. Andrea enjoys traveling, church activities, spending time with her family, hiking with her dog, Louie, and cooking (translation: EATING)!
