Afterwards, I returned to Tufts University, where I completed my orthodontic residency. My interest in public health and addressing health care disparities motivated me to apply for and be accepted into theJoseph L. Henry Oral Health Fellowshipat Harvard Medical School. AtHarvard School of Public HealthI was awarded a Masters in Public Health. I currently serve on staff at Brigham and Womens Hospital where I provide orthodontic care at one of the hospitals clinics. In addition, I also serve on faculty at theHarvard School of Dental Medicinewhere I enjoy teaching dental students and residents.
I am a board certified orthodontist and diplomat of theAmerican Board of Orthodontics(ABO) and a fellow in theAmerican College of Dentists(ACD). I am also a member and active participant with theAmerican Dental Association(ADA) and theAmerican Association of Orthodontists(AAO). I have served and continue to serve in leadership roles within both organizations locally and nationally. It gives me great satisfaction to give back to my profession. In addition, I actively volunteer with other local and national organizations such as theDentaQuest Foundationto help those in need get access to necessary dental healthcare and to educate dentists on the need and strategies to care for vulnerable populations.
As a part of my continuing education, I attend the AAO annual session and theNortheastern Society of Orthodontists(NESO) annual session each year to remain up to date on current and effective treatment methods and approaches. In total, I spend more than 50 hours each year taking continuing education courses. All of these activities allow me to be able to better identify and address the specific needs of each patient while offering them the most appropriate treatment.
I enjoy improving the quality of life for many patients and making them feel good about their smile and themselves. Working with each patient and getting to know them over the course of treatment is one of the most rewarding aspects of my profession.
I was born and raised in Nassau, Bahamas and have lived in the Boston area for over twenty years. I am proud to call this community my home. In my spare time, I enjoy travel and spending quality time with my family and friends. I also enjoy running, and used to run track and field competitively!

We are a Certified Invisalign Provider. Whether you are considering Invisalign or are already in treatment, we invite you to learn about its benefits and how to use this convenient treatment process to get and keep straight teeth and a healthy smile.
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment plan that uses a series of clear plastic aligners that gradually straighten your teeth over the course of treatment. The virtually invisible clear aligners, which are made of a thermoplastic material uniquely developed for Invisalign, look similar to teeth-whitening trays and are nearly imperceptible to other people. Your Invisalign aligners are custom-made from scans and/or molds of your mouth to ensure a high degree of treatment accuracy as well as comfort.
Invisalign offers many benefits over traditional braces. First, Invisalign aligners are virtually invisiblepeople may not even notice that youre wearing them. In addition, Invisalign aligners are removable, making eating and drinking less of a chore than it is with metal wires and brackets. You can also remove them to brush and floss as you normally would.
Finally, since your office visits during treatment dont involve metal or wire adjustments, youll likely spend less time in the doctors chair and less time in pain as your teeth adjust to the sudden change in tension. When using Invisalign as directed, you can also enjoy fewer office visits in general.
Anyone with mild to moderate teeth-straightening needs is likely a good candidate for Invisalign treatment. However, in specific cases, Invisalign dentist Dr. Joffre may not recommend Invisalign for treatment because of tooth position, size, shape, or type of correction needed. It will only be recommended after dental issues such as tooth decay or gum disease are addressed by Dr. Joffre.
We find that aligners are most effective at straightening your teeth when worn 20 to 22 hours per day and removed only for eating, brushing, and flossing. Practicing good dental hygiene throughout an Invisalign treatment is essential, and you will continue coming to our dentist office regularly for routine cleanings.
Compared to other orthodontic or cosmetic dentistry procedures, Invisalign treatments are comparable when addressing a patients unique needs. The less correction is needed, the faster and potentially cheaper your Invisalign treatment may be. Regardless, the cost of fabricating custom aligner trays by the Invisalign lab is the main cost of this treatment.
Depending on your specific treatment, some of the movements your teeth need to make may require attachments or ridges to help the aligner grip the teeth. These bumps, or wells, are where the aligner grips your teeth. The attachments are actually small pieces of enamel-colored composite that are affixed to your teeth that contact bumps on your aligners. We will use one or both of these features to attempt to achieve the desired tooth movement.
