Dr. Helton has practiced family and cosmetic dentistry in Danville since 1983. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA degree in Chemistry and a Doctor of Dental Surgery. Dr. Helton prides herself on compassionate comprehensive care for the entire family. She values the relationships that she builds through her family of patients.
She is long time member of the American Dental Association, the Virginia Dental Association, the Danville-Pittsylvania County Dental Society, The Academy of General Dentistry, The Christian Medical-Dental Association (CMDA) and the Academy of Laser Dentistry. Continuing education is very important to her in order to stay abreast of the latest materials and techniques in dentistry, thus bringing those benefits to her patients.
In addition to dentistry, Dr. Helton is very involved with her family. Her husband, David, is a pharmacist and they have two children, Michelle and Cliff. Michelle is married (September 2017) and lives in Southern Pines and works as a Nannie. Cliff graduated Caldwell Academy in May 2018 and is currently at Samford University, in Alabama.
Dr. Helton is an active member of West Main Baptist Church where she works with the missions team. As a member of CMDA, she has done two dental missions in Nicaragua as well as several mission trips in the Caribbean.
As a cancer survivor, she and her staff support the Danville Cancer Association through the Bridge to Bridge run/walk, the American Cancer Societys Relay for Life and the Lingeberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. Complete oral cancer exams are very important to her practice of dentistry.

This facility is the best dentist I've been to in 5 different states! They explain everything throughly and we're amazing at explaining insurance and our plan of action to take care of my teeth! I've avoided the dentist for years because of embarrassment of my teeth and all these lady's made me so comfortable and reassured me they can help! I also took my 3 year old and I'd love to bring him back for life! And I'd like to mention a very special employee of their office Carrie(a hygienist )who made the experience so memorable for my son and also took care of me! She's a keeper for that office! I wish we were gonna be in this town longer because this place would be our family dentist for generations!

Changed to Dr. Helton from my long-term dentist begrudgingly, but what a pleasant surprise I had when I had my first visit! My teeth were filmed and cleaned with the latest, state-of-the-art equipment. The staff were all professional and concerned for MY concerns. The hygienist was brilliant, and I felt no pain from the deep cleaning I received! The doctor was friendly and knowledgeable about ME on my very first visit!

Donna and her staff are so friendly, kind and attentive. When cleaning my teeth the hygienist realized I was uncomfortable and gladly applied topical numbing to make sure I was comfortable. Love coming here and they typically take patients on time! No long waits!

From the front to the back excellent staff! I've been looking for a dentist like Dr Helton for a long time! I'm no stranger to the dental chair. Dr Helton is by far the sweetest, gentlest, kindest Dentist I've ever had. Also the most thorough exam I've ever had.Wish I would have found this office sooner. It's now my forever home.
