Dr. Fortner was born in Charlotte, NC, but spent his childhood in Ennis, Texas (outside of Dallas). He attended undergrad at Baylor University and then received his Doctorate of Dental Medicine from The Medical University of South Carolina.
His relationship with his cousin, a dentist in South Carolina, influenced his interest in dentistry at an early age. He was fascinated with dentistry at that time and his cousin's ability to help people.
After graduating M.U.S.C.,Dr. Fortner started his dental career as an Associate Dentist in Monroe, NC. In 1992, Dr. Fortner came to Salisbury and purchased the practiceof Dr. Bobby Lomax, which was establised in 1962. Dr. Lomax was a mentor to Dr. Fortner, both clinically and also in the art of the patient relationship. They were the perfect dental team, not just for the original one year they planned to work together, but for over 20 years!
Dr. Fortner is a long standing member of the NC Dental Society, Rowan County Dental Society and the American Dental Association. He believes in supporting this wonderful community and has been a Board Member for Rowan Helping Ministries, Faithful Friends Animal Sanctuary and has also served on various committees at St. Luke's Episcopal Church.
Dr. Fortner has always incorporated the latest technology into his dental practice. In 2003, he began using CEREC one visit crown technology and has upgraded the systemseveral times to offer his patients the latest features of CEREC technology. Other advances in technology offered at the practice include digital radiography, 3D imaging, soft tissue laser and digital impression capabilities.
Dr. Williams grew up in Bessemer City, NC and obtained his bachelor and master degrees in medical sciences prior to pursuing his doctor of dental medicine degree at the School of Dental Medicine at East Carolina University. Dr. Williams enjoys all areas of dentistry, especially the newest treatment available in the areas of dental surgery and implant placement. Like Dr. Fortner, Dr. Williams is trained in the advanced technology available at the practice (Cerec, 3D Imaging, Solea laser) for diagnosis, treatment and patient comfort.
Dr. Williams gives credit to his father for his initial desire to become a Dentist. He watched his father run his own business for over 30 years and states that his father inspired him to work hard to leave a positive imprint on the world.
Dr. Williams has an energetic, positive and compassionate personality. He immediately won over our dental team and has created an added level of excitement and passion for what we do each day for our patients. He is driven to provide superior dental treatment, reduce dental anxiety and create a unique dental experience for all of his patients.
When not at the office creating smiles, Dr. Williams enjoys the best of life with his wife Lindsay, and dog, Layla, playing golf and traveling. His wife Lindsay is an entrepreneur, owning and operating her own professional makeup business.

Saw Dr Williams for 1st time...I was scared about extraction of broken tooth in back top of mouth with a dentist I really did not know.......he made it look easy while comforting me!!!! Had the plug with my own blood....he is right....less bleeding....not much pain the morning after!!!!! A great dentist at a great place.....WELCOME Dr. Williams...... You now FAMILY!!!!!
