For Dr. Jack Markusen his work as Myrtle Beach, SC dentist, his favorite part of the job is changing his patients lives by changing their smiles. In particular, he prides himself on taking away patients fear of dentistry. In fact, part of his inspiration to become a dentist was due to his own negative dental experiences as a child. Service is important to Dr. Jack Markusen, and he often serves in leadership roles. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1968 and served as an airborne electronics technician until he was honorably discharged in 1971. Two years later he received his Bachelor of Science degree from the Baptist College of Charleston (now Charleston Southern University). He graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina, School of Dentistry in 1976. At MUSC he was dental school class president and student government president, as well as a member of Psi Omega, a professional dental fraternity.
Dr. Jack Markusen has held leadership roles in several professional organizations, including South Carolina state president of the American Society of Dentistry for Children and public information officer for the South Carolina chapter of the Academy of General Dentistry. He has served as a certified trainer for Dentrix Dental Systems and trained dental staffs throughout the Southeast. He is committed to continuing education to improve his own skills and has participated in many lectures and training seminars around the country and internationally.
Dr. Jack Markusen enjoys serving the Myrtle Beach, SC area community through the Lions Club. He has served as the Lions Eye Bank director, among other roles with the organization. He is also a member of St. Philip Lutheran Church and sits on the board of directors of the Coastal Samaritan Counseling Center in Myrtle Beach, SC. In his free time, he enjoys reading and going to as many South Carolina Gamecocks football games as possible.
Ashley attended the Palmetto School of Career Development. While studying as a dental assistant, she completed her internship with us. If I can put 0 stars I would do it. Be aware of the rude unprofessional staff in the office. Person claiming she is the manager in the office speaking as the streets sales person rude and unprofessional. Also there billing system not what they are telling you in the beginning they will charge you unreasonable fees even though they accepting the insurance in full. Stay out of the office. The doctor is old school doctor and very knowledgeable, office great and updated but the administrative staff are not professional. And if the doctor hires such an unprofessional staff I can't help it but only making an conclusion that doctor is playing a great deal in the billing too.

I had my first cleaning today with Dr Jack Markusen. This is by far the best experience I have had in a dentist chair!! And I'm scared to death in a dentist chair btw!! They are so polite and friendly an it's just all around a great environment. Very relaxing. I foresee him being my dentist from here on out.

First visit today (a consult in preparation for a cleaning next week) left me with mixed feelings. The waiting room is welcoming and pleasant, with a television, a wide range of reading materials, and interesting art on the walls. Both technicians were friendly, efficient, and skilled. Love the atmosphere and vibe I got while there...except for the MAGA cap prominently on display. Strongly prefer not to mix work and politics. I read lots of reviews for Dr. Markusen and his practice; I made an informed choice to see him. I just wish I didn't know his political leanings.

Dr. Markusen and his team are amazing!!! They are by far the most thorough group I have ever been treated by. I have been going to a dentist for 4 years and recently moved. I was under the impression my teeth were in great shape. On my first visit with Dr. Markusen, he showed me some minor problem spots, that if treated years ago by my other dentist, would not need the level of treatment today. He explains his plan of care and the tools used, in easy to follow layman's terms. I left his office feeling awesome, with a super clean mouth! My teeth were so shiny I hated to even eat anything! LOL His office is gorgeous, with beautiful artwork on display and a super comfy waiting room. Its extremely neat and clean and professionally maintained. I cant wait to go back for my next cleaning!

Went to Dr. Markusen for 3 crowns and to replace a silver filling. For my next 6 month checkup, I went to a different dentist who immediately saw obvious decay where the new filling was. Told me the tooth must be redone. A week later, one of my new crowns fell off (6 month old crown!) I went to have it re-cemented. Dentist took one look at it and saw decay that Dr. Markusen should have removed but did not. Now I need a root canal and a new crown! I'm absolutely blindsided by the poor quality of work, and now I have to come up with thousands of dollars to redo what was never done correctly.

I went to four other dentist offices before I found doctor mark while in excruciating pain from a cavity. Tiffany and the staff here are the absolute best !! I don't have dental insurance and I'm a single mom. I came in, explained my situation and I was given answers instead of being dismissed. They all explained everything and was very gentle. Prices were the best I've seen. It's wonderful to find people who actually care about they're job. 10 stars and I didn't even get my service done yet.
