Dr. Mary Ellen Dobbs and her husband, Ryan, grew up in East Tennessee. She studied Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Tennessee Knoxville and graduated with honors from the University of Tennessee in Memphis, where she received her Doctor of Dental Surgery. She completed her orthodontic residency and Masters degree in Oral Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is now an orthodontist practicing in Knoxville, TN.
Dr. Dobbs is dedicated to continuing education and her professional affiliations include the American Association of Orthodontists, Southern Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Tennessee Dental Association, and Second District Dental Society. She is also one of the few area orthodontists who are certified by the American Board of Orthodontics.
Mary Ellen and Ryan are avid outdoor enthusiasts and are excited to have returned to beautiful East Tennessee. In their spare time they enjoy hiking and flat water kayaking. They currently reside in Lenoir City with their daughters,Eva, Claire and Anna Kathryn, and are members of Central United Methodist Church.

I've been going to Dobbs for past two years and I'm so glad I picked Dobbs. I compared few places before I started to compare price, environment, and services. Dobbs's has amazing staff members and they are always on time. It's clean environment and I don't have to worry about anything.

I would like to start off by saying that I am not a customer of Dobbs Orthodontics. My daughter has braces and goes to another orthodontist in the Knoxville area. She had a wire poking her in the jaw and we tried everything to give her some relief including wax, bending, and even attempting to cut it ourselves. After finding out that our orthodontist was closed, I tried contacting several other local offices for help. This was something that could not wait over the weekend. Unfortunately, other local offices were also closed. Finally, I contacted Dobbs Orthodontics and was enthusiastically greeted by someone over the phone. Sorry, I did not catch her name. She checked with Dr. Dobbs regarding our situation and said that she would be glad to assist. My husband took our daughter in and the lady at the front desk somehow knew what they were there for and immediately took them back. We fully expected to have to pay for this service, but to our surprise, we didn't have to pay anything! Thank you to Dr. Dobbs and her fabulous staff for taking care of our daughter and having such amazing customer service.

Dr.dobbs did an amazing job helping my teeth to straighten out and aligning my bite. She also made me a nite guard which will hopefully help my TMJ. She is so friendly, patient, and just over all wonderful. All of her staff went above and beyond as well!

This was our third visit, but the day the braces were put on. The tech made my daughter feel comfortable, spoke directly to her, listened and corrected the small problem. The tech explained everything to my daughter and made sure she was comfortable with the instructions. Dr. Dobbs was wonderful and checked in on us twice. I was very pleased with the care we received and have already referred Dr. Dobbs to a friend for her daughter.

Dr. Dobbs and her staff did a fantastic job for my daughter! Whereas a prior orthodontist had said we'd need to save up for oral surgery when she's in her twenties, talented Dr. Dobbs resolved all her issues affordably in less than 3 years! We're appreciating their aftercare as well! We highly recommend her practice!

Dr. Dobbs and her team have made the experience of having braces for our daughter super easy, and even fun. The process is always clearly explained, adjustments are quick and painless, and they are almost always right on time or ahead of schedule. We are big fans of Dobbs Orthodontics!
