Learn about Ryan M. Clancy, DMD, MAGD, FPFA, LVIF, who first joined Divine Smiles in 2004, following his honorable discharge from the United States Army. He became a partner in 2010, and finally bought the practice in 2013. Since then, he has worked tirelessly to create a warm, welcoming practice for patients in and around the Boston area.

Dr. Clancy believes in cleanliness, environmental responsibility, and giving back to the community. As such, his practice adheres to the highest standards of sterilization, and he actively adopts environmentally friendly methods, such as keeping electronic records and always recycling where possible.

In addition, Dr. Clancy provides educational services to children, teaching them about the importance of oral hygiene. He also donates to the Boston Childrens Hospital, and serves on the board of the Massachusetts Dental Society Political Action Committee. He is the former chair of the Massachusetts Dental Society New Dentist Committee, a position he held for five years.

    Dr. Clancys time in the Army was spent bringing frontline care to United States soldiers, coalition forces, government contractors, and local Iraqi citizens as a member of a mobile surgical dental team. He is grateful for the opportunity he had to do his part for the United States.

    Dr. Clancy is heavily invested in continuing education in order to provide his patients with the latest, safest, most effective, and most advanced dental technologies and techniques. He understands the importance of having a thorough understanding of the best ways to treat a wide variety of dental concerns and issues, which is why he chose to obtain the highest level of dental education possible.

    A dentist who has a MAGD (Master, Academy of General Dentistry) designation has completed 1100 hours of continuing education, including hands-on courses, spanning fields from orthodontics to dental implants. This is the highest award that the Academy of General Dentistry gives, and fewer than 2% of general dentists achieve it.

    In addition to MAGD, Dr. Clancy is also an LVI Fellow. The LVI program focuses specifically on cosmetic dentistry procedures such as porcelain veneers, as well as neuromuscular dentistry with comprehensive focus on diagnosis and treatment of TMJ using the most advanced technology available.

He completed his dental residency while enlisted in the Army where he spent some time abroad in northern and western Iraq.     After working many years in Human Resources and Banking, Leslie switched gears completely and returned to college to pursue a career in Health Care. Leslie received her Associate Degree in Dental Hygiene from Middlesex Community College in 2007. She has been with Divine Smiles since 2007. Originally from Cambridge, MA she now resides in Gloucester. Leslie pursued a career in Dental Hygiene because she understands why complete oral care is beneficial to patients overall health. She enjoys working at Divine Smiles because she can work with a dental team committed to advancing their skills and knowledge.

    Who most influenced your career? My Mother & Fathers work ethic was very influential to me growing up. They worked extremely hard to provide for our family no matter what challenges they may have faced, all the while making it look effortless.

    I graduated with my Clinical and Administrative Medical Assisting degree from Southern Maine Community College. I knew that the health care field is what I felt most passionately about from a young age. I medical assisted for many years along with working full time in the hospitality industry.

    Its in the hospitality industry where I discovered how much I loved working with people and giving fantastic customer service. When I had the opportunity to work at Divine Smiles it was the best of both worlds. Dr. Clancy and the team truly cares for each patient all while giving exceptional customer service.

    When Im not working, I spend most of my time with my very big family in the state of Maine. I have three sisters and lots of nieces and nephews that I love being an aunt to. I live in Somerville now and enjoy living so close to the city. On weekends I love to try new restaurants and recently picked up kickboxing.

    After finishing my associate degree in Human Services from the University of Massachusetts in Boston. I decided to switch professions and enrolled in the dental hygiene program at Mount Ida College in 2002. In 2004 I graduated from Mount Ida College with an associate degree in dental science. I continue taking continuing education courses yearly to remain knowledgeable and up to date with the most recent dental technology and studies. I am originally from Somerville Mass and reside in Winthrop with my husband Mike and three children Samantha, Emma and Michael. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family traveling, running and watching my kids play sports. I have been working for Divine Smiles since 2006. I have enjoyed building relationships with the patients and the dental team.

    I have been with Divine Smiles since 1997. Debbie started with the dental team as an assistant and with much encouragement from the practice she furthered her education at Middlesex Community College in Dental Hygiene, graduating in 2003. Debbie is now in the office part time as she is a full-time mom to her daughters. She loves seeing her patients that she has formed a relationship with over her many years here.

    What are your plans for the future? As my girls get older I would like to eventually add more hours in the practice. I do want to continue to be cautious of maintaining a health work/home balance, which Dr. Clancy is extremely supportive of.

    I attended Shawsheen Valley Technical Vocational High School and decided to pursue the Dental Assisting program because my mother worked as a Dental Hygienist for many years and inspired me to work in the Dental field. I started working as a student Dental Assistant in November of 2016 and graduated the Shawsheen Dental Assisting program in June of 2017. I have continued to work as a Dental Assistant since and I love what I do and enjoy caring for and interacting with patients. I started working at Divine Smiles in September of 2021 and I love working with such a great team.

    What do you like to do in your spare time? In my spare time I like going to spin classes and going to the gym. I enjoy cooking with my boyfriend and spending time with family and friends. My favorite pass time is watching scary movies.

    Who most influenced my career? I was born and raised in Venezuela. One of the earliest influences in my life has been my Father, a dentist himself. My Father taught me the true impact dentistry has on the lives of others. I admired the appreciation he received from his patients every day.

    In 2006, I got accepted into dental school, and in 2012, I graduated as a dentist in my home country. I worked there for a few years before moving to the United States in 2015. I wanted to continue to pursue a career in dentistry in the United States, therefore I became a dental assistant. I have continued to work in Dentistry because it makes me so happy. I am able to work in a field that I love. I continue to study and take continuing education courses that allow me to be on top of dental development which is crucial in order to provide patients superior dental care.
