Dr. Heidi Tzioros attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she received her Bachelors degree in Chemistry. Deciding that chemistry was not her passion, she continued on at Chapel Hill where she received her Dentistry degree. Dentistry appealed to her because of the ability to help others, and the opportunity to use her artistic side, by working with her hands.
After graduating, she returned home to Charlotte where she obtained an associateship with Dr. Debora Lentz. After working for her for several years, she had the privilege to take over her thriving practice. Dr. Tzioros is very passionate about her role as a dentist and wants to be known for her quality care and comfortable approach. She is committed to continuing education to provide the most up-to-date techniques and materials to benefit her patients dental health. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Charlotte Dental Society, and the Dawson Academy Alumni Association.
I was born and raised in Charlotte North Carolina. After graduating high school in 2000 I attended Central Piedmont Community College. I was accepted into the dental assisting program at CPCC in August of 2004. I started my internship with Dr. Lentz for dental assisting in March of 2005 and graduated as a certified dental assistant in July 2005. I was immediately accepted into the dental hygiene program at CPCC. I continued to work for Dr. Lentz and Dr. Tzioros while I was in hygiene school and after receiving my hygiene license in 2009 I extended my hours to full time. I was lucky enough to be able to stay with Dr. Tzioros when she bought the practice in 2011. I absolutely love working with my patients and getting to know each and every one of them. I enjoy educating my patients and coming up with a home care regime that fits their individual needs.
My name is Diane Ladrie and I have been a dental hygienist at Dr. Tzioros office since September 2013. I am a graduate of the CPCC Dental Hygiene program and completed my studies with an Association in Applied Science. I was born and raised in South Florida and moved to North Carolina in 1980.
While dentistry has always been a passion in my life, I did take some time away from dentistry to own my own business in marketing and screenprinting. I enjoyed the experience but had a burning desire to get back into dentistry. I have enjoyed finding an office that has the passion for taking care of each and every patience with caring hands.
My name is Holly, Ive been a dental assistant in this practice for 25 years. Seven years ago, Dr. Tzioros bought the practice from Dr. Lentz, and I stayed with her. My passion is helping people understand the importance of taking care of their teeth and having a great smile. I love my job, and I love being able to make people smile and have comfort when getting treatment. That is why I love being a dental assistant. I also love spending time with my two dogs, Jax and Gracie, going on the boat with my husband John and when possible having family over and cooking great meals!
I have been in the dental field for 16 years. I have experience as a dental assistant and front office receptionist/secretary, and coordinating financial treatment plans for patients. I enjoy the dental field because there are always lots of new areas to learn and there is never any treatments the same. I have always lived in a small town, attended a small high school and college, and love the small family dentistry atmosphere where you get to know patients and their families. Some of my favorite things I enjoy doing outside of work are being a mom, spending time with my family, serving as a Sunday school teacher and choir leader with kids in my church, and reading Karen Kingsbury novels.
When patients experience tooth loss your dentist can give you back your beautiful smile by implementing a Partial or Full Denture treatment plan that suits your needs both financially and aesthetically.
Advantages of full and partial dentures include improved chewing ability, improved speech, improved aesthetic appearance and improved oral health. The tooth portion of the denture consists of ceramic or ceramic-like material so they are strong and durable. The base of the denture is made of acrylic which fits comfortably over the gums.
Immediate Dentures:These are usually a temporary means of helping you transition to successful denture wearing. Because of the muscular readjustment required, as well as the natural shrinkage of gums, the dentures which are placed immediately after tooth extraction won't fit as well as permanent dentures made when the healing is complete. They do, however, provide you with new teeth right away, and give you time to adjust.
Conventional Full Dentures:After a period of time, permanent dentures that conform to your mouth with near-perfect accuracy can be fabricated. These are carefully crafted to look as much like your own natural teeth as possible, and are able to function properly in your mouth for a long time.
Implant-Supported (Fixed) Overdentures:To increase the stability of a lower or upper denture, it's possible for it to be securely anchored using two or more dental implants. The upper jaw requires more implants (generally three or more) than the lower jaw due to a lesser bone density. Many people find this option offers a great balance of comfort, functionality and value.
Transitional Partial Dentures:These relatively inexpensive removable plastic dentures serve as a temporary tooth replacement and space maintainer as you wait for your mouth to heal from tooth extraction, for example. Once the healing process is complete, dental implants can be placed.
Removable Partial Dentures (RPDs):Usually made of cast vitallium, these well-constructed, metal-based removable partial dentures are much lighter and less obtrusive than those made of plastic. They are a little more expensive than plastic dentures but will fit better. They are, however, much less expensive than implants or fixed bridgework.
Making quality dentures is a blend of science and art. First, an accurate impression (mold) is made of the alveolar ridges on the top and bottom of your mouth. The base of the denture is made from this mold in a dental laboratory. Working together, the dentist and lab technician choose from among many different sizes and shapes of prosthetic teeth to re-create a natural-looking smile. When everyone is satisfied with the result, the temporary dentures are made in permanent form.
To enable normal speech and eating, it's crucial to balance your bite. This means that the upper and lower dentures come together and properly stabilize each other. The form and function of the dentures are carefully checked to ensure that they are working and fitting properly.
Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth and jaw alignment and match your dentures to the color and shape of your teeth. Temporary dentures will be provided to patients transitioning from failing teeth to dentures.
For patients receiving partial dentures, replacement teeth are bonded to a gum-colored base which is attached to a metal framework this framework is held in place by attaching to the natural teeth on either side of the empty space.
Flexible partial dentures are an alternative to the traditional rigid metal-based dentures. They dont require rigid attachment to the remaining natural teeth, provide a better fit and look more natural.
