Dr. Scott Elrod is celebrated throughout Lake Jackson, Texas, and around the country for his cosmetic dentistry services that have helped thousands of patients put on their best smile.

Dr. Elrod received his dental degree from Marquette University. He has been practicing dentistry for over 26 years. Before relocating to Lake Jackson in the fall of 1998, he gained experience as a dentist for both a hospital and a private practice. Dr. Elrod is continually improving his techniques with continuing education. He has completed an 18-month course on implantology and oral surgery. He has also completed many other courses and programs concerning the most recent trends in dentistry. He is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), Texas Dental Association (TDA), Crown Council and The Ninth District Dental Society, and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Dr. Elrod and his wife, Ruthy, have been married for 30 years. Together they have three daughters; all three are in college. When not working, Dr. Elrod enjoys bow hunting but prefers spending time with his family more than anything else.

When asked, Why are you a dentist? Dr. Elrod said, Dentistry is one of the most rewarding jobs I could ever imagine. The opportunity to change peoples lives through the art of dentistry brings a tremendous amount of gratification. Creating beautiful smiles and witnessing peoples whole sense of self-confidence change is addicting!

Dr. Hillary Johnson is originally from the small town of Eagle Lake, TX. Her older sister is a dentist in the US Air Force. She encouraged her to explore the dental field because it combined her love of art and scienceand of course she was right. Later she would graduate with honors from Texas A&M University before attending dental school at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry (formerly the UT Dental Branch at Houston).

The office culture is what she loves most about Distinctive Dental Services. Everyone in office shares the same zeal and passion for dentistry and the desire to help others. When we asked her what her dental philosophy was, she said Open communication and effective education are the cornerstones of my dental philosophy. Knowledge empowers patients to make well-informed decisions and confidently invest in their oral health (which ultimately impacts their overall health and quality of life). Focusing on collaborative, coordinated approach allows myself as the provider to deliver the best possible dental care that respects the clients preferences and values. Dr. Johnsons passion for dentistry spans into endodontics (treatment of the dental pulp) and the use of Invisalign for her patients.

I have been with Distinctive Dental Services for 19 of the 32 years I have been in dentistry. I have a great boss. He cares about his clients and his employees. He takes very good care of us. My coworkers are the best. We work hard, but we have fun and enjoy each other. The clients here are awesome. I enjoy and treasure getting to see them and work with them every few months. I have been married to my best friend for 32 years. I have two young adult children who I am so very proud of and have enjoyed watching them grow into respectful, caring, hard working young adults. I love them both dearly and couldnt imagine my life without them. God and all of my many life experiences have made me who I am today. My main goal in life is to always show compassion towards people because you never know their situation. And I always try to be relatable with people because God put us all on this earth for a reason, so why not enjoy our stay.

Melissa was born in Galveston but grew up in Sweeny, TX. She spent years in braces growing up which gave her a lot of time to spend with dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants. This led to a newly found passion for the dental field. If there is one thing that makes Melissa genuinely happy, it is seeing her patients confidence improve, along with their smile, over each and every visit to the office.

She finds that the most rewarding part of her job is having the ability to make a positive impact in the lives of patients by contributing to their overall health through their oral health. She is personally committed to never stop seeking the greater good and well-being of her patients. She believes that all patients deserve the highest standard of care. During her time away from the practice, she loves to spend time with her 3 wonderful children.

Mickey began at Distinctive Dental Services in 2020 but has enjoyed working in the dental field for over 6 years. After growing up near Topeka Kansas, she obtained a BS in Microbiology and became a registered Dental Assistant. On top of that, she has even had Cerec training. Day to day, she loves learning new dental facts and helping her patients overcome any dental fears they may have.
