Distinctive Dental Service - Shawn Loo, DDS is a Irvine based family dentist practice that treats patients of all ages. We are committed to delivering the highest quality dental care and do so using advanced dental equipment. We are a cosmetic dentist that offers services like checkups, teeth cleaning, crowns, veneers and more.
After finishing his undergraduate degree, Dr. Loo attended the nationally recognized University of Southern California School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery. After graduating, he then served part time on the USC Restorative Faculty teaching the art of crowns, bridges and cosmetic dentistry. Dr. Loo has also been an instructor for one of the worlds leading cosmetic centers that focuses on teaching other dentists how to perform smile makeovers.
In 2009, Dr. Loo was recognized as one of Americas Top Dentists. Recently, he was also nominated as one of the best general and cosmetic dentists in Orange County and Los Angeles County by the Best of L.A. television program.
Dr. Loos commitment to excellence is evident by his ongoing efforts to receive certifications and continuing his education in the latest advancements in dentistry. His main goal is to provide cutting-edge dentistry, including minimal preparation cosmetic dentistry, implant dentistry and Invisalign orthodontics.

When I visit Dr. Loo's office, I know I can expect excellent, friendly, and efficient service that is personalized to my individual needs every time. The commute to my appointments is relatively long, but it's well worth it!

Dr. Loo and his team are amazing. My husband had some dental work done today and he said he felt very comfortable and happy with the results. He said Dr. Loo made sure to check all his concerns. This isn't the typical rushed dentistry, this is a practice that gives you the best quality and really gets to the bottom of the problem. I have an appointment myself because I know I'm in good hands!

I'll be honest and say that I have been pushing off going to the dentist for a very long while because of a lot of dental anxiety. I had some concerns about my teeth though and knew it was about time to go. I asked around to see if any of my friends had recommendations and Distinctive Dental was brought up. They were able to schedule my first appointment within a few weeks and when I got there they had a cute little sign with my name on it welcoming me to the practice. I found out at the appointment that some of the concerns I had were valid and I would need a decent amount of dental work (which I was expecting overall). Because of this, I've been into Distinctive Dental quite a few times over the past month and a half and have had a number of different procedures done and I've been nothing but happy with the services I've received. Firstly, and most importantly for me, the staff is so sweet. I know I'm not the easiest patient to deal with because I have so much dental anxiety that it has turned into crying in their office and even a panic attack during one of the procedures (at no fault to the staff - completely a personal issue both times). During all of this, the staff was so empathetic and supportive. I've really appreciated the overall demeanor and bedside manner from each of the people that I've worked with. Also, not sure if they all just remember me at this point or if it's in my file, but I feel like they always know the things to talk to me about to work down my nerves - primarily my dog LOL at this point I've probably showed pictures to most of the staff in the office haha In addition to being super kind and supportive, I've always appreciated that they've never pushed me into any procedures faster than I wanted to go. During my first consultation, we discussed a lot of different issues and things we could fix whether that be for tooth health or aesthetic. After this initial discussion where I asked how I should prioritize my treatment, they made me a very clear treatment plan and have let me move at my own pace with what I want to get done first. Dr. Loo was also super informative about what exactly he was doing at each step of each of the procedures. I appreciated this because it gave some context to what was going on in my mouth and helped to ease some nerves. They are also super accommodating with scheduling. I was leaving to go out of town shortly after my consultation and some of the work we had discussed was more urgent in nature and the staff at the front was super helpful in working around my work schedule to ensure I could get certain things in before I left. Overall, the office seems super clean and well kept and they have a fish tank in the front which I love to look at while waiting for my appointment (though I've never waited longer than like 5 minutes). They always temperature check when people go in and their staff is always masked. They also always offer me water and are overall super welcoming. I would highly recommend Dr. Loo's office if you're looking for a new dentist and particularly if you are someone who's nervous about going to the dentist. I am like 10/10 anxiety ridden about dentist's visits but Dr. Loo's office has been so great and has helped to alleviate some of the nerves I have.

The atmosphere is refreshing. It doesn't feel like going to the morgue. The staff is so cheery and nice. The Dentist is Proffesional and extremely helpful. Dr Loo is amazing! I would recommend going because why not make what always feels like a painful experience, a pleasant one.

I'm glad I found Dr. Loo at Distinctive Dental. I've had several procedures done here including crowns, implants and gum surgery. What doesn't sound like a pleasant experience, Dr. Loo and Dr. McCloud made sure I was very comfortable, and the work was excellent. No problems afterward. The staff are very good too - friendly and efficient.

I've been coming to this dentist for a while now and, while they've provided good dental service, I'm very disappointed in the transparency in identifying costs prior to service. I unfortunately wasn't informed I would be paying for an decently priced out-of-pocket expense prior to service and was informed with the news following the service. This could have been avoided if they scheduled my appointment a couple months later as my insurance would have been reset for the calendar year. I generally rely on my dentist to navigate these matters and this office failed...and didn't even have the courtesy to apologize or try to correct the issue.

Distinctive Dental Service and Dr. Loo were just amazing for my son, Aaron. He was nervous at first but Dr. Loo and the staff put him perfectly at ease, and not only diagnosed and solved his exact problem but left him with cleaner and healthier teeth, better hygiene and a transformed state of mind -- with no pain! The whole experience could not have been better, or healthier. And Aaron is actually looking forward to his next dental visit. When did you ever hear THAT from a 9-year-old boy?

I have been a patient of Dr. Loo's for close to 10 years now. He has always been very diligent, professional and competent. The team is great as well. It is almost a pleasure going to the dentist's now. Although I moved 40 miles away 3 years ago, I kept him as my dentist!
