I was born and raised in Maine and graduated from the University of New England in 2008 with my B.S. in Dental Hygiene. I most recently completed my MSeD through St. Josephs College of Maine. I would consider myself a lifelong learner and like to take on new tasks as a way to gain more knowledge.

I am an active member of the Maine Dental Hygiene Association, was an active member of the MDA COVID-19 Re-Opening Taskforce, and in the past worked as a Clinical Instructor at the University of New England Dental Hygiene Program.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time outdoors with my son and my dog. My favorite season is fall warm days and cool nights. We are very big on daily walks outside no matter the weather as there is nothing a little fresh air cant fix! I also love to play tennis and to me there is nothing better than the smell and sound of the ocean.

Although I was born and raised in Massachusetts, I now consider myself a Mainer at heart. Our state is truly beautiful. Away from the office you can find myself, my husband and my two sons outside as much as possible hiking, biking, swimming, skiing and exploring with our dog Bruce.

Here in the office you can almost always find me goofing off around with my patients. I absolutely love working with children. They make me laugh and I enjoy being able to explore the world through their eyes. When I graduated hygiene school in 2008, I knew pediatrics is where I wanted to be, and I have never looked back! I graduated from the University of New England in 2008 with a B.S. in Dental Hygiene and am an active member of the Maine Dental Hygiene Association.

I cannot wait to meet your little and introduce all the fun we have here at Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry. Seeing kids become comfortable, confident, and proud to show off their smiles is my daily goal. I look forward to the opportunity to provide a safe and friendly environment where your child will be excited to visit every six months!

I am a Registered Dental Hygienist at Dirigo. I was born and raised in Maine, and graduated from the University of New England in 2009. From there, I began practicing in general dentistry, however my love for children and working with young individuals led me to make the transition to pediatrics. I really enjoy watching my patients grow and change throughout the years!

When I am not making smiles clean and bright, I am a busy wife and Mom to my four young children. I can be found at baseball games, ski races, or gymnastic practices. Our family enjoys being outdoors -boating, skiing and spending time at our family camp in Eustis, Maine.

When Im not in the office, Im at home in Brunswick with my fianc and our black lab Bailey. I enjoy getting out doors to experience all that Maine has to offer including hiking, long dog walks, boating in the summer and snowshoeing during the winter.

I have a lot of experience working with children, from being a camp counselor, to before and after care, as well as babysitting and nannying. I am so excited to bring my enthusiasm to the office and to promote oral health in a fun way.

I am a dog mom to my pup, Winnie. I love summer and the sunshine. I am definitely a fun and easy going person, and love spending time with my friends and family. I would describe myself as spontaneous, and I like to keep active with anything outdoors, especially boating out on Sebago Lake!

I started my pediatric dental career in 1991 while living in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I received my Expanded Functions Dental Assistant License in 2003 from the Median School of Allied Health Careers in Pittsburgh. After raising my two amazing sons in Pittsburgh, I returned to Maine to help care for my mother alongside my two brothers.

My eldest son and his wife are expecting their first child (and my first grandbaby) in September 2022, and I am beyond ecstatic. My youngest son will graduate from Robert Morris University in the spring of 2023 with his BSBA in Finance and his MBA with a concentration in Data Analytics. I am so proud and truly blessed.

I am a Mainer through and through- born and raised here. When I am not at Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry helping to make your childs dental experience the best and easiest it can be, you can find me and my partner Brent on the lake fishing or sitting in a tree stand. We also enjoy hiking outdoors or having those needed lazy days with our two rescue dogs.

I am a recent graduate of the University of New England with a BS in Dental Hygiene. I have lived in Maine for over 10 years now and I dont plan on leaving! I love Maine, mostly for its Summer and Fall seasons. My hobbies include hiking, fishing, camping, and so many more. During the COVID quarantine, I rescued a boxer mix puppy named Shyloe, who brings me so much joy and happiness.

As a child, I always looked forward to visiting the dentist. When I decided to pursue a career in dental hygiene, I knew I wanted to work with kids. I love to be the friendly face you see when you walk through the door and my goal is to make your kids feel welcome and happy when they walk into the office. I cannot wait to meet all your kiddos!

I have always had a passion for helping people so the transition into this role felt very natural to me. I am excited to be on the front lines providing the warmest of welcomes in an environment where we pride ourselves in being fun and trusted!

I am a Mainer through and through. I was raised in a small town where I grew up playing sports with my three older brothers. I went to college at Westfield State University and graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science. My running career may have slowed down, but my life sure hasnt!

I am a proud fianc and Mom of two boys. We stay busy year round and enjoy every season for what it has to offer. I am a lover of hunting, ice fishing, camping, and eating comfort food with family on football Sundays. I am obsessed with my dog Emmie, aka ME, because life with her is the way life should be!

I have lived in Maine my entire life. I attended Empire Beauty School in Portland and graduated with a degree is Cosmetology. After graduation, I moved back to my hometown and married my high school sweetheart. We have two beautiful daughters and together we live in the house I grew up in. I love entertaining and being social and we enjoy spending time by the pool with our friends and family. I grew up with a very close family and being near them and our friends is so important to me. I live for Fall. Warm days and cooler nights cannot be beat if you as me, there is nothing better than bean boots and a hooded sweatshirt.

I have spent the past 15 years building a career in the service industry. I have worked a seasonal summer job for the past twelve years, and I am very excited to make the switch to Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry as it will allow me to be able to spend more time with my family and friends.

Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry – Dr. Mike Dowling - General dentist in Yarmouth, ME

My name is Janessa, although many people call me Jae. I am a Patient Care Coordinator here at Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry. I grew up in the Rockland/Rockport area of Maine and love everything about our state from the breathtaking mountains to the smell of the ocean. I am from a huge family and am a proud auntie to 12 nephews and nieces. I love photography and capturing special moments in life that I can share with others. I enjoy being outside camping, on the lake boating, playing sports, reading, swimming, and helping coach the kids sports teams, most recently a Special Olympics basketball coach. After graduating High School, I attended the University of Southern Maine for Business Administration, however most of my career has been spent in the field of social services, working with both children and adults with special needs. I decided to leave the social services field as a residential manager to follow another passion of mine, working around children. Kids are honest, hilarious, and a joy to be around. Helping to introduce and educate them is inspiring and its encouraging to play a role in setting their foundation. I was never a big fan of going to the dentist when I was younger, so it is my personal mission to help your little ones eliminate those fears and anxieties by showing them that the dentist can be fun, and not scary. I have two parrots named Khaleesi and Honey. Khaleesi is a Blue Crown Conure that I have had for 8 years. Honey is a Senegal parrot that I rescued three years ago from an abusive home. I like to tell people that I dont have kids, I have fids - (feathered kids) I look forward to meeting you, your family, and little ones. I predict one of my favorite parts of this new opportunity will be watching the milestones for your littles ones and getting to know your family!

DO NOT GO THERE!!! I have two daughters and I used to go there constantly. One of my daughters had a couple bad teeth and she's only 4 years old so the doctor said it will need a surgery to be taken off so i took a second doctor opinion and they said no surgery needed because she's only 4 and those will fall off anyway so I went there on the next appointment and the doctor said he don't want to see or clean or check her teeth anymore because we didn't listen to him and had a surgery done so basically he said do not come back to us. Couple months after i called to schedule an appointment for my other daughter just for clean up she have no issues with her teeth and they said the doctor will not check her because you guys didn't listen to him and do a surgery to the other daughter.

We had a wonderful experience with Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry this past week. We had been trying to find a dentist who could help us with our youngest sons dental issues, while managing his Epilepsy. When other dental offices weren't able too, or were charging outrageous prices for services, Dr. Mike and his team listened to us, and was willing to meet us and talk more about his dental needs. Everyone there was so kind, welcoming and professional. I can't extend enough thanks for the way our son was cared for and I truly appreciate you and the service you provide. I will be sharing our experience with others, and encourage them to seek you out for dental services. Thank you so much!

Another greedy pediatric dentist that will only crown baby teeth. Had decided to let another office convince me that crowns were the only option to ultimately have my son in the worst pain of his life with tooth abcesses and two rounds of antibiotics to have to have the crown pulled. These pediatric dentists have gone coocoo with greed like the politicians. Dentist was told about crown concerns and said he would try to do fillings but he wouldn't know until my child was under anesthesia if a filling could work or if crowns were the only option. Now another BIG issue, Kayla the receptionist claims you need an entire month's notice to reschedule a procedure so since I called 8 days in advance I could no longer be rescheduled. I asked about cleanings and she said they wouldn't do cleanings until after the decay was taken care of and also claimed I wasn't an establish patient at the practice because I had not had a cleaning there but a cleaning can't be scheduled until after the procedure. So if your child has decay no cleanings until months and months of waiting for procedure to take place. Also unless you can foresee the future an entire month prior than you cant come back if something comes up. BABY TEETH NEEDING EIGHT CROWNS THESE PEOPLE ARE OUT OF THEIR MINDS. I'd rather pay out of pocket to have one pulled at a time if needed than watch my child suffer like that. And this isn't even serious decay I am dealing with! My son is not in pain currently. Started paying out of pocket at another office to have my other kiddos babies pulled and it is the best choice I've made. Kayla ends call by telling me the doctor can't talk to me about the surgery as I requested and doesn't know if he will have time to. And that she needs to get back to work. Then tells me I have 30 mins to decide to keep my appointment. I reiterated how she said the spot couldnt be filled within the week so that is why a months notice is required so I still had a week to decide if I could make it work she said no and that they were going to try to fill it. I Asked if I could come back to the practice if they filled it and she said no. Reached out to manager and she states that the only information regarding cancelation policy even sent was via snail mail sent 9/22 for a 10/26 appointment that required one month's notice to reschedule or you are not allowed to reschedule. You would be lucky to receive their cancelation policy within the time frame for it to be allowed. 10/19 -recieved letter from Cara manager saying no longer welcome at the practice based on Google review even though i confirmed appt -just received a confirmation email about my appt.saying 48 hour notice required for cancelation haha

The first appointment was great didn't have a problem with them at all, but after that it was just one problem after another. A lot of back and forth being told I didn't do something I needed to for my sons surgery when I did. Just before my sons surgery something unexpected and completely out of my hands happened and I no longer could do his surgery, I asked if we could reschedule but was told they don't reschedule and was made to feel like I was a failure as a mother because I chose to reschedule my sons surgery over something that I could not reschedule and needed to be done as soon as possible. I have never been made to feel like a failure as a mother by anyone like they made me feel. Hopefully other people have better experiences and I wished I wasn't treated the way I was.

My grandson who is 4 had to have his two front teeth "crowned" as a filling wouldn't stay. $1800.00+ later for baby teeth, are now needing to be removed 4 months later due to the "crowns" have caused severe abscesses on both sides of the teeth, and are decaying from the inside out. So when they say, they should keep their "baby" teeth as long as possible. I called due to a remaining $120.80 bill, told them about the teeth, nothing, other than the remaking balance is $120.80, how would you like to pay. Very disappointed! I will say, the lady on the phone was very pleasant, but clearly that wasn't her department regarding the teeth, hers was payment.

I'm giving them 3 stars because the actual tongue tie procedure went well and my daughter's issue seemed to be resolved. However, the fact that they make you fully pay for your procedures/appointments at the time, and then you get reimbursed by them, after insurance also pays them, is ridiculous. This prolongs things so much. You have to shell out, possibly, over $1,000 for something insurance covers, then wait MONTHS to get reimbursed by the dental office. Getting addresses, insurance information, and coordinating afterwards was highly infuriating. We had our procedure mid-February. It is now almost June, we still have not been reimbursed. When I called to get an update I was told they filed a claim in March and were waiting to hear back....if they were the ones getting reimbursed, I doubt they would be okay waiting two months with no response. So backwards in my opinion. Won't be doing there again if I can help it.

My son had to have dent surgery to help his teeth stay healthy and they did great and no more pain however no one told us he would need so much work let alone caps we didn't even know until we got home and he started crying from pain again I think work was great but communication is key and I feel their wasn't enough also was told get a loopy drink and he didnt get it also told me he wouldn't remember being put under and he definitely does he is terrified of dentist now and for two weeks he would wake up from naps screaming thinking they was holding him down with mask and big balloon it was horrible I've never seen a kid so scared like that! Now my baby has to been seen for his teeth and praying better experience with communication as well as my oldest not being scared anymore

There aren't enough great things to say about Dirigo Pediatric Dentistry! The office is State of the Art, yet welcoming and comfortable for children of all ages (of course with the coolest eye-level fish tank!). Dr. Mike and the entire team genuinely care so much for each child and family. As a dental professional myself, I am always happy to call their office about a mutual patient because they go above and beyond with positivity and compassion!

The first thing I noticed was how CLEAN this office is, The second was the staff; they are so inviting and really make you feel comfortable. Dr. Mike was very informative and listened to understand rather than just to respond, you can tell he cares. My son had his tongue tie reversed and the process was quick, the assisting nurse did her absolute best to calm my son in the process as well which made me feel super comfortable. After a few minutes he was calmed and totally fine as if nothing happened. The healing looks great so far! Will definitely be bringing my son here from now on.
