At Dientes, we envision a community where children can focus on school instead of a toothache, adults can make good first impressions and get a job because they have a healthy smile, and seniors can comfortably eat nutritious foods.

We serve publicly insured and uninsured patients of all ages through three clinics in Santa Cruz County and an Outreach Program with multiple locations at schools and community hubs. We offer affordable sliding scale fees for those without insurance. For low-income patients in our community, we are the only provider of dentures, oral surgery, and endodontics (root canals).

In a community where nearly 15 percent of Live Oak Elementary School students are homeless, 15,000 people do not have a doctor, and 78 percent of adults on Medi-Cal do not have a dentist, the need for integrated services is great and the demand far outweighs capacity. Dientes, Santa Cruz Community Health, and MidPen Housing are partnering to create 1500 Capitola Road, a vibrant 3.7-acre health and housing complex in the heart of Live Oak. This crucial first step toward increasing access to healthcare and affordable housing in Santa Cruz County will provide healthcare for up to 10,000 patients, along with affordable housing for 157 people.

We believe that having access to oral healthcare is a social justice issueone that we fight to correct every day. Dientes addresses inequities created by race, ethnicity, language, zip code, income, education, gender, and age by providing access to high quality, affordable oral healthcareso that everyone has the dignity that comes from a healthy smile. We also do this by supporting a diverse workforce and providing opportunities for all races and genders to advance in their careers.

Our primary patient population includes uninsured and publicly insured families, the elderly, the physically and/or developmentally disabled, the homeless, pregnant women and new parents, farm workers and their families, and HIV positive individuals. Approximately 95% of patients are Santa Cruz County residents; 27% of them from South County. 13% of our clients this year lacked any form of dental insurance including public insurance. We are one of very few dental providers in the county serving Medi-Cal beneficiaries.

We also serve a large number of disabled adults and children. We have taken many measures to make our facility completely accessible and welcoming to those with disabilities, including procuring equipment that make positioning easy for every patient and allows ample access for wheelchair patients. In many cases, patients can be treated directly in wheelchairs.

Medicare (the public health insurance we all get once we turn age 65) still doesnt cover oral health. This leaves our seniors struggling to speak and eat nutritiously. It affects self-confidence and can lead to social isolation. Seniors on fixed incomes cant afford the cost of expensive, private dental insurance or for paying out of pocket.

Can't get an appointment. I read The Who is eligible to use Dientes. I determined that I was eligible by meeting 2 categories, ie being on Medical, and being low income on disability. So I sacrificed my last ink cartridges to print out the paper work. I sent a text asking for an appointment, and was denied because, I am not a veteran, I don't have cancer, and I'm not pregnant. None of which is mentioned in The Who is eligible part of the forms. I had a 6.5 hour heart surgery at Stanford and they had to extract all my teeth so I wouldn't get an infection, and now I am stuck with no teeth. Can't eat, can't smile, get heart burn cause I can't chew my food. I am a disabled Ironworker, and spent my life building America until I was hit by a truck. Please help me Dientes.

Five hundred million stars for this absolutely wonderful office crew! I can't even break the surface of how profoundly changed my life is today because I walked into Dientes Riverside.....By mistake! My appt was actually for a different location (which I'm sure is just as great) but after walking/jogging a few miles after missing my bus and being slightly late, the office person must have felt my disappointment in my lack of punctuality and location because she told me to wait a min and then she offered for the dentist to see me there. I did and he was the greatest and most knowledgeable doctor I've ever been in the company of, he knew more about my past surgeries and the long term effects then the doctors that did them. I walked out feeling so great I got a job at the first place I inquired that day and am still there and love it THANK YOU DIENTES DENTAL!

I had Stacy clean my teeth and she was very friendly, the dentist doesn't actually interact with you much, Stacy's personality needs to be put into the dentist that works there.

I'm pregnant and needed a tooth extraction. They were able pull the tooth on my 1st visit and it didn't even hurt. The dentist, Dr.Kuo, is extremely professional. I couldn't have had a better dentist. The procedure was handled fast and effectively. I would really recommend this clinic to anyone. A+service!!!!!

Now I don't know if it was me or not. I'm not here to bash anyone. The dentist was professional ect. I'm 100 percent positive he knows what he is doing...That wasn't a problem at all. But he seemed kind of like Spock on Star Trek. Very serious . I guess that is what you want. But I have anxiety and depression. I went there with pain in my front tooth. They examined my whole mouth and then said he was going to pull my front teeth , some sort of bridge and he will start on the back ones. I just felt it wasn't explained to me. I didn't understand what was going on I guess. He said "Sorry for the bad news" ,,,I went home kind of bummed out. So kept going back and forth if I should keep my appointment and sadly I didn't. I had too much anxiety. My last dentist retired and no matter how bad it was, I was comfortable. Maybe that has something to do with it also. Anyway, I have heard nothing but great things about the one on Commercial way. I have three friends who go there and swear by it. Said they would do anything to save the tooth and if really, really nervous can ask for use gas. Boy that sounded great! I get nervous. But once I know the dentist I'm not so much. I tried to get an appointment there and you have to call after the 15th...My friends told me it takes awhile....Well once again this is just my experience.....I am sure they are good tho......

I'm visiting Santa Cruz from the land down under, and got a gnarly toothache. I had a walk in appointment and got the nicest nurse and doctor. The reception staff were pretty nice as well. Not long after I filled out my form, I was seen to by a doctor, then I was on my way with a prescription. Thank you, guys. You helped me out big time.
