I feel extremely blessed to be part of the dental profession. I love interacting with people, and ever since I was a little kid I've loved fixing things and working with my hands. Dentistry affords me the opportunity to do both!
I love hearing peoples stories, and learning about their passions. I love hearing about kids sports teams, or a patients grandkids. I have patients who race cars and fly planes, others who are avid fishers and hunters, and still others who are exceptional bakers and bring us treats.
I feel the difference we make in our patients lives is a healthier mouth and smile and a renewed confidence in the dental profession. We pride ourselves on selflessly treating people how we want to be treated. For some people, that results in a dramatic change in their dental condition after avoiding the dentist for many years. For others, its a congratulatory pat on the back at a cavity-free checkup.
Each year I participate in many hours of continuing education (CE). CE keeps me on top of new research and techniques, and enables me to be more thorough and comprehensive, as well as more conservative and efficient, in the care I provide.
I grew up in Sparks, living there from 3rd grade until I moved to Portland for dental school, then back again. I grew up riding and fixing bikes in my neighborhood, playing baseball and fishing. My boys both enjoy playing sports as well. My older son currently plays baseball at Lassen College in Susanville Ca while my younger son is in high school and plays football and baseball. Both of them are making their dad proud of the young men they are becoming.
Away from work, Im usually at one of the kids sporting events or working in the yard. I also enjoy cutting firewood, hiking the hills with Joey, fishing, hunting, and target shooting. Im a fan of the Giants, the Reno Aces and love to fix things.
We recognize that all our patients are unique and deserve to receive dental care that reflects their individual needs. Our experienced and talented dental team is committed to working with you and your family to create a comfortable, stress-free, and rewarding dental experience every time you visit our practice.
I love learning about each patients life. I find I learn a lot from our exchanges, and in the process, we develop strong relationships. Seeing people come back for their visits allows us to renew and strengthen those bonds. I assist the doctor as he cares for patients. I make sure he has everything he needs, while also seeing that our patient is comfortable. I spend a lot of time talking with patients about dental health, how it affects their body, and why Dr. Dicus recommends certain treatments.
I am in charge of the hygiene department at Dr. Dicus office. I perform all aspects of dental hygiene; including cleaning our patients teeth, scaling and root planning, sealants, and patient education. I love helping my patients achieve an optimum state of oral health through my treatment and educating them. I also enjoy the relationships with the other girls that work here and, of course, I love working with Dr. Dicus. We all get along so well with each other and all work great as a team. Our patients are cared for in an excellent manner starting with the very first phone call.
My role as a dental hygienist is twofold. First, my goal is to help people enjoy their dreaded dental visits while providing a thorough cleaning. Just as important is the education I provide to patients regarding their oral health and how it can affect their overall health. One of the best parts of my job is the group of people I work withwe all have fun at work and love laughing together. They are very accepting of me and my shenanigans!
My goal is to make sure all our patients have a great experience in our office. One of the highlights of my job is interacting with and establishing friendships with our patients and their families. I love the personal connections I make on a daily basis. Dr. Dicus and our team make coming to work every day a lot of fun! We work so well together and truly enjoy each others company.
At home, I have two children, Scott and Kylie. Some of our favorite activities to do as a family are skiing and snowboarding in the winter, and camping and being at the lake in the summer. Spending time with my kids, friends, and family is the most important thing in the world.
In the world of corporate dentistry, where you never know what provider you will be seeing, our office is a single-dentist-owned private practice. When you come to our office, we know your name and you know whom youll be seeing. We treat you like a member of our family. For you, this means you will never be up-sold on products or services, and you will not be pressured into expensive, elective procedures that are not necessary.
Our patients span the range of entire families, from babies to great grandparents and everyone in between. We enjoy watching our patients growing up as we start seeing them as little kids to when they move away to college then come back home again!
