The profession of dentistry is my passion. I have dedicated almost half to my life towards pursuing, learning, enhancing, and practicing dentistry. I really enjoy serving others, and dentistry is one avenue that allows me to serve the needs of people in my community. It also allows me to express many of my characteristics including attention to detail, creativity, mindfulness, and even humor!
I have a strong passion for treating children, which only increased once I became a mother. I take pride in making people feel comfortable at the dentist, as dentistry can cause anxiety or even fear in many individuals, regardless of their age.
I began my journey in dentistry immediately after high school, attending the University of Michigan for my Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. Continuing at U of M, I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. I completed my General Practice Residency at Bronx Lebanon Hospital in New York. I have been practicing as a dentist for eight years in New York City, Los Angeles, and now in my hometown of Detroit.
I am also an extremely active member in my church, Greater Works Ministries. At the church, I am an executive assistant and I help where ever is needed. Another community program that I am very proud of and closely affiliated with is a non-profit in the city of Detroit called Lets Go Detroit, which is focused on improving the City of Detroit through volunteering and donation efforts.

Dr. Aisha Akpabio and our staff enjoy getting to know each patient and their families, and love creating relationships that last multiple generations.

This was a God whisper. First let me say Thank you for being, sensitive to my feelings, I stumbled over this office and I'm so grateful for them, the office staff, the close attention to detail, and most of all the beautiful souls I encountered. I just finished my cancer treatments and I needed to get back on track with my life, iv been off work since last year no money to pay bills, no great insurance, and down on my luck. I was running into brick walls for the last month seems like nothing was working out. I kept on moving and told myself to get me together maybe that would help me see life in a different way. Got an appointment with Diamond Smiles and I was feeling discouraged again when my insurance only allowed me to get my upper teeth cleaned, why? I don't know. The staff stayed on me with reminders of my appointments and boy did I need it, after going through treatments it makes your mind foggy and you can't remember anything. Thank you for that. Dr. Akpabio must of seen or felt the urgency in me, or maybe just maybe God spoke to her heart, she got me ready for my upper deep cleaning and boy did I need it. As she was finishing up my upper cleaning it was the end of the day and everyone was leaving and going home for the day, as I layed back in her chair thinking I'm almost done because I'm only getting uppers cleaned, Dr. Akpabio continued to clean my bottoms as well, I'm thinking and wanted to say "stop" I only was approved for my top but as she started I knew God had whispered to her. All I could do was lay there and the tears just started rolling down my face maybe she thought I was in pain or something but I couldn't stop them I was just so grateful for her, she was done and out the room before I could even get out the chair to thank her for her works. What an Angel God sent me, I'm still crying writing this review but they're happy tears. Thank you Dr.Akpabio for being my God sent Angel today. I pray that he Blesses you abundantly and keeps you in the palm of his hand and in perfect peace. Your heart is Big and never let nobody change who you are, you will be Blessed! I had two cleanings and a cavity filled at this office. The cleanings took over 1.5 hours due to waiting on the office. The second cleaning I waited over 45 min after my appointment time for the cleaning to start. The first cleaning was primarily performed by the Dentist and was fine, but the second was performed by a hygienist and was the worst teeth cleaning I have had to memory. The hygienists rushed through the cleaning and when I could not understand what she was saying she used her hands to force my mouth shut. Seeing the dentist was optional but I thought it was routine for cleanings. The cavity filling experience was fine besides again I had to wait on the office and the application of the anesthetic was done so forcefully in the cheek that my jaw was sore for over a week. Giving it two stars because it is relatively clean and the equipment is up-to-date. Also noticed most bad reviews get marked as spam, and I would not be surprised if it happened again even though Google has my location data.

Like many others, I've always dreaded going to the dentist. It got to the point I would only go when I actually HAD to. Recently I was experiencing some pain and was referred here by my mom and sister. And let my say this...... This Dental office is 100% responsible for changing my perspective. Everyone here was welcoming, personable, knowledgeable but most of all professional!! Made me feel comfortable. I'm glad to say I finally have a dentist/dental office. If you're looking for a place to go, look no further. THIS IS IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dr. Akpabio is my new best friend in my head. She and her fabulous staff were so friendly when my son Lucas and I were there this week. The cleanings we received were very thorough and the education received from Dr. Akpabio was very honest and helpful. Her office has a very family oriented feel to it. My son and I felt very welcomed there and will definitely be back. I know I can only give 5 stars but, if I could, I would give 100 stars because that is just how impressed we were with her and her teams service.

This is by far the best Dentist I ever been to. From the time I walked in the whole staff were extremely friendly. I'm so happy I found this place and it's black owned, I'm also happy with the cleaning results from Gabby she did an amazing job. Vaneka the director of operations was very nice over the phone and nice throughout the process when I first walked in. Also, Doctor Tinsley gave so many recommendations as well made me feel confident. This is now my home for all my dental needs because of how they took care of me. Thank you so much , I highly recommend!

My fear of the dentist is gone! Dr. Akpabio and her team make you feel so comfortable and relaxed! I have had some major work done that I had put off because of my fear of pain. There was none! I highly recommend Diamond Smiles Dentistry. These professionals are experts at making you proud to smile again!

Never felt so comfortable. Mind you I'm 29 and afraid of dentist. Thank you so much for taking care of my mouth and not judging. She even prescribed medicine to help with my anxiety with the whole situation. She took every step possible to make me feel comfortable. I've never been to a dentist that makes you gargle so they can check for infect spots and etc... she did.... She wouldn't work on me unless my blood pressure was appropriate ... I just really feel like she care for her patients. She doesn't speak medical terms she's breaks things down ebonicly. Was NOT disappointed, will be back. Amazing

Nice to kids Returning customer But to seniors not so much .. Wanted to use A black Dentist /business But a sister had a horrible painful experience with poorly made denture repair needed after 3 months of wear Tooth fell out Replared crookey ..Never Going back And Wont recommend ...Oh yes real Nice workers Though ..Bottom line is money .. whoever .making the denture .. needs to be Changed .

I had an excellent and professional experience with Dr. Akpabio and her staff. They are friendly and thorough. I'll be switching my daughter to her practice as well. And the office is beautiful. I am truly grateful for my experience there.

My daughters LOVE Dr.Akpabio's office! It's so important that kids have a positive doctor/dentist experience, and this office staff did not disappoint. The hygienist cleaning was gentle, patient and fun. My girls bragged about the cleaning for weeks because it went so well - they were so proud! I'm glad this is a family practice and we will be long term clients.
