Project FutureCare, Overlake Medical Center's six-year campus renewal project, is an investment in the growing Eastside community; a commitment to providing exceptional quality and superior service to every patient and family member. From childbirth services to surgery to behavioral health, Overlake will continue to set the standard for overall healthcare excellence.

The cornerstone of the projecta new, 240,000 square-foot toweropened in February 2021 and offers larger, single-patient rooms that combine the space for family zones and state-of-the-art technology, enhancing the work of Overlakes highly skilled medical providers. The new towerwill also have a concourse-style drop-off, slated to open in 2022, and will reconfigure the campus for improved wayfinding and patient experience.

In November 2021, our inpatient mental health unit moved to a newly upgraded space. The new unit provides a warm and welcoming environment for patients and features 14 inpatient adult beds, private spaces for patient and provider discussions, larger common areas for group activities, as well as room for future expansion. The new space makes the best use of natural light, which research has shown plays an important role in mental healthcare.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in volunteering at Overlake. Volunteers are a vital part of the patient and family-centered healthcare experience supporting our mission to provide compassionate care to every life we touch. Each day, our volunteers can be seen throughout the hospital, helping patients, their families and guests.

Volunteering at Overlake offers a unique opportunity rarely found in other healthcare facilities. Volunteers provide support in a variety of settings. They are often the first and last contact for our patients, their families and visitors. Volunteer support includes greeting visitors at our information desks, working with patients in medical units, emergency services, surgery recovery, healing arts and administrative departments.

  • I could not get into nursing school even though I had a 4.0 GPA because I had never been in the hospital setting, so I started volunteering on the Medical Surgical floor and I have been accepted to Seattle University and chosen an area of interest because of my experience at Overlake.
