Dr. Carney has been a resident of the south Arlington/Mansfield area for over 25 years where he has supported and watched the local area grow from an open rural community to a thriving metropolitan city. After landing here as a teenager following his father's retirement from the U.S. Armed Forces, he graduated from Arlington Martin High School in the late 1980's.
Dr. Carney has a diversified educational background starting with earning his Bachelor of Science degree in engineering in 1993, and his Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1995 from Texas A&M University.
After a 7 year engineering career, Dr. Carney decided to change his life focus and dedicated his life to the health professions by serving the community in dentistry. In 2005, Dr. Carney completed his DDS degree from the Baylor College of Dentistry, Texas A&M University Health Science Center.
After graduation, Dr. Carney served our nation 's armed forces in the US Navy as an officer in the navy dental corps treating our active duty sailors and marines. He also completed an advanced dental training General Practice Residency (GPR) at the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia which included over 200 hours of didactic training as well as advanced training in surgery. His final tour was with the Navy 'Sea Bees' which included a deployment to the Middle East supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. Upon completion of his military service, Dr. Carney returned to DFW where he completed his training in the specialty of periodontics, periodontal surgery, and implantology along with credentials in IV sedation.
Dr. Carney is currently a member of the American Academy of Periodontists, Southwest Society of Periodontists, American Dental Association, Texas Dental Association, Dallas County Dental Society and the Mansfield Chamber of Commerce. In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, scuba diving, teaching at the local college, and spending time with his family.
