A Michigan native, Dr. Salamen attended dental school at the University of Michigan and then completed his oral surgery training at the NOVA Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in Florida. After nine years of successful private practice in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Salamen returned home to Michigan to open Dexter Oral Surgery and Implant Center in Dexter, Michigan.
Dr. Salamen is an American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons board certified doctor, and a member of the American Academy of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is an adjunct faculty member in the University of Michigans Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, and holds certifications in Basic and Advanced Cardiac Life Support. He practices a full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from wisdom tooth removal, corrective jaw surgery, cosmetic procedures and the management of tumors and pathology. This also includes techniques designed to rebuild jaw bone structure, diagnose and treat facial pain and traumatic facial injuries.
Heather is our Lead Surgical Assistant and Office Manager. This girl knows her stuff and is exactly who you want at your side during an oral surgery procedure. She is married and has two amazing daughters Natalie and Marlee.
After being a steel worker, she became certified as a dental assistant from ROSS. She is also ACLS, X-ray and Dental Anesthesia certified. She plans on continuing her dental assistant education working toward the registration program with the State of Michigan.
After graduating she taught high school for a year in Allen Park before moving to the Ann Arbor area where she was an early childhood educator for 4 years prior to joining our staff. Liz loves to use her education background to help guide our patients through their experience in our office.
When she isnt at the office Liz enjoys spending time with her husband Steven. They love exploring the Ann Arbor area and running their photography business together! They are active members at Grace Bible Church where Liz volunteers in the nursery along with singing in chorus and leading a small group with Steven. Liz and Steven are currently in the process of adopting a baby and are excitedly prepping for their little one!
Amanda grew up in Michigan and loves motorcycles and the Rodeo. She has two wonderful boys and a big family. Amanda joined Dexter Oral Surgery in June 2020 and has been a great fit ever since, lending both clinical and administrative support wherever it is needed. She is x-ray certified by the American Dental Association.
Emily grew up in Ann Arbor and is a proud Wolverine. She lives with her husband, Luke, in Jackson and hopes to own a farm someday; together, they love camping and hiking. She is so glad to be at Dexter Oral Surgery & Implant Center.

Dr. Omar Salamen and his staff went above & beyond when caring for my elderly mom with dementia that needed a molar extracted. It was not an easy task but their compassion & professional teamwork was so appreciated & mom has recovered wonderfully! He called the day after to check up on Mom's well-being also. Definitely recommend!

Dr. Omar Salamen and his Staff are class act professionals. The office is super clean, the staff are cordial, responsive, and accommodating. Most importantly the level of clinical excellence is nothing short of world-class. As a parent of an 8 year old who is need of oral surgery I was quite nervous myself....let alone my child. I spent a lot of time researching oral surgeons and got the advice from many dentists and Dr. Salamen's name was mentioned several times not only for his clinical skills but his personality and character. He and his staff truly care and it shows. We were blessed to have him take care of our child. Despite having surgery, my child WANTED to go back to school the SAME day. Dr. Salamen is one of those doctors who loves what he does and makes things that are difficult look easy. He is a world-class oral surgeon and I'm glad I drove over 3 hours to make the trip to his office. The local community is lucky to have him and knowing what I know now....I would have even flown to take my child to him given the excellent clinical outcome.

Let me just say how AMAZING my experience was! I traveled from south Florida to have Dr. Salamen take out my 4 wisdom teeth just a few days before I had to return back to college in NYC. He rearranged his schedule to accommodate me, which he generously did with very little advanced notice. It was so much easier than I had thought it would be. I had all 4 wisdom teeth removed, and had no bruising and practically no swelling at all! And no problems afterward. (Nor did I need to take an antibiotic.) And it's worth mentioning that my brother had an equally great experience here also. It all went so well, and my recovery was so easy! I give Dr. Salamen my highest recommendation. You will be very glad you chose him to care for any & all of your oral surgery needs.!.

I had another child get some work done. Very nervous child and HORRIBLE experience 1/2 procedure done in 2 hours no communication in the waiting room with us parents. Then was told would receive a follow up call in a day or so NO CALL nothing, no notification on when we are going to finish what will be done. Called the office almost a week later to see why we didn't receive a call and to set up second date. Received a text message back with surgery date no call or nothing. We had to have him finish the job since we already paid and insurance was billed. Second procedure Dr. Salaman didn't even come out after to speak with us and we were told he will call to check up in a day or so. Yep no call nothing. My first child who went here still needs 1 more wisdom tooth out but we will be finding a new oral surgeon.

I highly recommend Dr. Salamen. He has a great bedside manner, is very thorough and even called to check on me post surgery himself! Plus, the office is so beautiful!

The professionalism and friendliness of the whole team is outstanding. I had a few complicated surgeries that I needed to be done and Dr. Salamen and his team were very professional. Dr. Salamen and his team went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable throughout the whole procedure. They're all very professional, courteous, and friendly. Highly recommended!

My husband found out that due to some serious health issues he needed to have all of his teeth extracted and mouth healed before treatments could begin. No appointments were available for 3 weeks, Doctor Salamen and a couple of his staff came in on their day off so they could help him immediately. I found Dr. Salamen went above and beyond to help us in this trying time. We were given this information on Monday and extractions were done that Wednesday so treatment could begin in 2 weeks instead of 5 or 6 weeks. Thank you so much Dexter Oral

Best place i ever been i had more then one tooth pulled in life and this is hands down the best place ever. The doctor is super super nice and all the girls here are also super nice. It went to face and well i did not know it pulled it. Thank you so much you guys are awesome

Dr. S is the man. He did a wonderful job removing my last two wisdoms but unfortunately I got 4 days post op and wound up with a dry socket, a very painful one. After about 30 hours no sleep and being forced to call off of work. Dr. S came in on his day out of the office to open up for me and to clean and pack the dry socket. He's very caring, friendly and professional and would recommend him over anyone else for surgery. Thanks again man, I very much appreciate you coming in and helping me. It's finally subsiding and I'm looking forward to getting some sleep!

Dr.Salamen was AMAZING. I had an extraction of the upper left tooth. He was kind and very patient. Explained all the pros and cons of having the procedure done. Very gentle and always let me know what he was doing step by step. I would definitely recommend him to my family and friends!! Thank you Dr.S!!!!

Anyone who needs their wisdom teeth out should really check this place out! The staff was very nice, and Dr. Salamen was very comforting as well. Because of the pandemic I was not able to have my mom come in with me and they made me feel very comfortable and relaxed before, during, and after the surgery!
