Devine Dentistry - Cosmetic dentist in Nashville, TN

I am a Nashvillian with deep roots in both the community and dentistry. My grandfather, a retired dentist, loved to mentor me as do my parents, Joe and Stephanie Mack. My parents met and married when my mom was a dental student and my dad was an oral surgery resident at UAB in Birmingham. My father, Harry Russell Joe' Mack, has been practicing Oral and Maxillofacial surgery in Nashville for over 30 years and is a pillar within the Nashville Dental Community. Dr. Devine and my parents first met when the three of them took their dental board exams together in 1988!

In 2007, I graduated from Montgomery Bell Academy as a member of the Cum Laude Society and then went on to UNC Chapel Hill (go Heels!) to earn a degree in biology and a minor in Spanish. After graduating UNC with honors , I spent a year doing research at UNCs dental school. I was honored to be accepted to UNCs Adams School of Dentistry, one of the most selective and highly ranked dental schools in the United States.

After graduating UNC dental school with honors in 2016, I completed a year of general dentistry residency in California, treating veterans and gaining extensive experience in the surgical placement of implants. I have a special interest in dental implants and digital dentistry, utilizing computer aided design to fabricate my own surgical guides and plan implant placement cases for my patients.

After ten years of being away from home, I was thrilled to move back to Nashville. My next goal is to start my own family. In the meantime, I enjoy spending time on our farm with friends, my sister Caroline and my parents, and going on outdoor adventures with my circle of close friends from dental school. In my free time, I enjoy volunteering at Interfaith Dental Clinic, meeting new people, hiking, water skiing, and snow skiing.

A dental crown also referred to as a cap or crown, is essentially a cap that covers the exterior surface of a tooth. The purpose of a crown is to strengthen a tooth that is compromised by either a large filling or fracture that cannot otherwise withstand normal chewing pressure. In other words, a crown can save your tooth from needing to be extracted. At Devine Dentistry, we can fabricate a custom porcelain crown for your tooth, providing you with natural, yet comfortable results for your smile. Your new crown will be indistinguishable from your other natural teeth, even down to the tiny natural grooves.

At Devine Dentistry, we believe saving teeth from being extracted is usually the best approach. Not only does restoring your existing teeth save you money in the long run, but it also helps protect your oral health against the perils of missing teeth such as the resorption of the jawbone and shifting teeth. However, in instances where a tooth must be extracted, we will discuss viable tooth replacement options with you.

Yes. Once we seat the permanent porcelain crown over your tooth, it will forever be in place. This is a good thing because you will never have to worry about it! Just carry on as you normally would with your natural teeth, eating and drinking what you like.

Veneers can be made of either porcelain or composite, depending on your choosing and dental needs. They are essentially ultra-thin shells that completely cover the front portion of your teeth. The results provide you with a gorgeous, new smile worthy of Hollywood! Veneers are considered one of the least invasive procedures in cosmetic dentistry since they require only a minute amount of tooth to be removed, if any, to make way for the permanent restoration.

Veneers are commonly used in cosmetic dentistry because they cover up a multitude of dental flaws just one of the many benefits of veneers! Want straight teeth but dont have time for braces? Wish you could have perfect teeth without undergoing extensive dental work? Want to permanently whiten your teeth forever? With veneers, you can!

An aesthetic smile is not just about beauty, but function and even your oral health! It is true, straight teeth mean a more harmonious bite (occlusion) and are easier to clean than crooked teeth. Since your smile is the first thing that people will notice about you, why not make a good first impression every time no more hiding yours smile or worrying that it may be holding you back in life! Studies show that people with an attractive smile are more likely to get asked out on a second date. What are you waiting for?

Absolutely! In fact, many patients undergoing a smile makeover will receive various types of cosmetic dental treatments to enhance the look and function of their smile. For example, we may place veneers on your upper front teeth, but provide a teeth whitening treatment to the rest of your teeth so that your natural teeth blend in with your new permanent restorations. This way, you can go with the whitest shade possible for your veneers, and still look natural!

These ultra-thin shells, when installed will look completely natural. Whether you choose porcelain or composite veneers, the result will blend in and even mimic the same light reflecting qualities of your natural tooth enamel. People will only notice your gorgeous smile!

Concerned about how you will afford your veneers? At Devine Dentistry, we offer a variety of payment options including third-party financing with interest-free, low monthly payments. Ask us if you qualify.

Veneers are minimally invasive, compared to other treatments, and it allows us to preserve more of your natural tooth structure, which is always a plus. Since veneers can cover multiple cosmetic dental problems at once, it proves as a cost-effective dental treatment versus undergoing individual treatments for each tooth or waiting years to get perfect teeth with orthodontics.

The advancements in teeth whitening mean that brighter, whiter teeth are the new societal norm. No longer is that Hollywood Smile limited to people in Hollywood! At Devine Dentistry, you can achieve the beautiful, white smile you desire through our professional teeth whitening treatments. The best part is that the procedure can take place during your lunch break!

This can be difficult to convince some patients, but those over-the-counter whitening strips and treatments you find so affordable are usually full of empty promises! They may work somewhat for patients with minimal staining on their teeth, but the results simply will not last as long as professional treatments. So, if you are looking for something more long-term, professional treatments are the way to go.

Consider this store-bought whitening agents simply are not as safe in comparison to the in-office type. What we mean is that those common whitening strips are designed as a one-size-fits-all strip, it is not a custom fit. Therefore, there is a good chance that the whitening gel will leak onto your gums, causing sensitivity, and you risk swallowing it since those strips do not stay in place. With custom treatments, we avoid this mess and irritation. Plus, professional whitening treatments are monitored at our office to ensure it is safe!

Teeth are susceptible to staining from the foods and beverages that we consume such as coffee, wine, berries, tea, and the like. Also, using tobacco products or smoking most assuredly will cause teeth to become dingy or yellow. Other times, simply the natural aging process is to blame. There is also what we refer to as intrinsic stains that can be caused by taking tetracycline (a common antibiotic), typically causing teeth to appear greyish from inside the teeth. Most store-bought products will not do anything to improve intrinsic stains.

Length of results will vary entirely based on your lifestyle choices and oral health regimen. Try avoiding foods and beverages that cause teeth to stain, and stopping the use of tobacco products should help prolong your results. Keep in mind that good oral hygiene is also helpful. Remember to brush and floss regularly, as well as visit the dentist twice a year for dental cleanings.
