Dr. Matt DeVaney was raised in Northern Guilford county and graduated from NW High School. He received his BS in Business fromWake Forest Universitybefore attending and graduating fromUNC School of Dentistryin 1999.
Dr. DeVaney opened the doors of Oak Ridge Dentistry in 2001. His focus has remained providing the highest level of quality clinical treatment and service to the patients of DeVaney Dentistry while participating in the most challenging continuing education available.
His commitment to education and cosmetic dentistry was recognized when he was invited to be a visiting faculty member of theSpear Institute, ranked the #1 provider of advanced dental education by dentists. This honor is exclusive to Dr. DeVaney in the Triad area. Dr. DeVaney completed 216 hours of implant surgery training in 2013 at Triangle Dental Institute and is now a fellow of theInternational Congress of Oral Implantologists. He is also certified by the NC State Board of Dental Examiners to administer IV and oral conscious sedation and is a member of theDental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS).
Dr. DeVaney utilizes a team of the best periodontist, orthodontist, oral surgeon and plastic surgeons in the Triad area to achieve maximum results. From a deficient chin to a gummy smile to undersized lips, your complex case can be resolved with fabulous results.
In his free time, Dr. DeVaney spends time with his children: Alexis, Chase, Chloe and Grant. He also enjoys a little physical conditioning, coaching his sons football team, spending time in the NC Mountains and on his small farm in Stokes County.
Dr. Scott Vines earned his dental degree from the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and then completed a two-year General Practice Residency at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston. Dr. Vines has been in private practice since 1998 until he recently joined Dr. DeVaney. He is the type of person that upholds the professional ideals of quality care and has an intense concern for the welfare of his patients.
Dr. Vines over the last twenty-one years has served on various committees and councils for both the State Dental Society as well as local Societies. He served on the Board of Trustees for the North Carolina Dental Society for eight years and was the Annual Session Chair in 2015.
He has been the President of both the Third District and the Rockingham County Dental Societies. He is a former board member of the University of North Carolina Dental Alumni Association Board of Directors. Before and while in dental school he was active in scientific research and has co-authored over 20 abstracts and papers. He is a member of the American Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry and the Federation of Special Care. He has Fellowships in the American Association of Hospital Dentist, the International College of Dentist and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.
In our local community, Dr. Vines currently is the Chair of the Annie Penn Hospital Advisory Board. He served nine years on the Rockingham County Board of Health, he has volunteered monthly over the last twenty years at the Rockingham County Free Clinic. He has been the local coordinator for six NC Dental Societys Mission of Mercy projects which provides free dental care to the adult undeserved population of our state. He and his staff have volunteered with the Give Kids a Smile program each year since 1998 and he also volunteered yearly for sixteen years with the Christinas Smile mobile dental van.
Dr. Vines is married to Dr. Tiffany L. Roberson, a general dentist and former classmate. They have two wonderful sons, Connor and Brayden. He is the Scoutmaster at a local Boy Scout Troop, and has coached recreation soccer for the past five years.
I always have a really good experience at their office. Despite having to have another crown put in, Dr. DeVaney is very professional and the staff is great. Amanda and Valerie are outstanding at making you feel comfortable and they have great personalities. Easily the best Dentist office I have been too.
I HATE going to the dentist but Dr. DeVaney and his staff always make it as comfortable/painless as possible. They've been able to squeeze me in with little notice on multiple occasions. Highly recommended!

What an outstanding experience at DeVaney Dentistry. The front office / reception staff was so kind and helpful before I even set foot in the door, with the constant communication being a new patient. Once I arrived. I have never felt more welcomed or valued at an office.
I recently had a crown placed at Dr DeVaneys office in Oakridge. My experience was wonderful! He made sure I was comfortable and didnt feel a thing! The same day procedures are a plus for my busy schedule. The staff is comforting and always available to address concerns as well explain treatments and outcomes.
The dentists, the front desk staff and the dental tech I've seen at this office are all extremely kind and helpful. I cannot find words for how grateful I am to have found such good dentists in my area! Highly recommended.
