  • Detroit Dental Specialists is now under new management and is managed by Unified Dental Partners. Our mission is to create genuine healthy smiles for every patient that walks through our doors whether they are schedule patients or walk-ins. We also believe in creating genuine healthy smiles to our community at large. We accomplish this mission through various community impact initiatives were involved in.

Our staff of highly-skilled, trained Detroit dentists, nurses, patient coordinators and dental technicians will welcome you like family and guide you through the process every step of the way. We want you to understand the process and why our treatments will help you, so that you can feel empowered to make the right choice for you and your dental health.

The brand of the toothbrush is not as critical as the type of bristle and the size of the head. A soft toothbrush with a small head is recommended because medium and hard brushes tend to cause irritation and contribute to recession of the gums, and a small head allows you to get around each tooth more completely and is less likely to injure your gums. Its unnecessary to scrub the teeth as long as you are brushing at least twice a day and visiting your dentist at least twice a year for cleanings.

Generally, no. However, its advisable to use a fluoride containing toothpaste to decrease the incidence of dental decay. We recommend our patients use what tastes good to them as long as it contains fluoride.

These are restorations to repair a severely broken tooth by covering all or most of the tooth after removing old fillings, fractured tooth structure, and all decay. The restoration material is made of gold, porcelain, composites, or even stainless steel. Dentists refer to all of these restorations as crowns. However, patients often refer to the tooth-colored ones as caps and the gold or stainless steel ones as crowns.

Both bridges and partial dentures replace missing teeth. A bridge is permanently attached to abutment teeth or, in some cases, implants. A partial denture is attached by clasps to the teeth and is easily removed by the patient. Patients are usually more satisfied with bridges than with partial dentures.

Although the U.S. Public Health Service issued a report in 1993 stating there is no health reason not to use amalgam (silver fillings), more patients today are requesting white or tooth-colored composite fillings. We also prefer tooth-colored fillings because they bond to the tooth structure and therefore help strengthen a tooth weakened by decay. While fillings are also usually less sensitive to temperature, and they also look better. However, white fillings cannot be used in every situation, and if a tooth is very badly broken-down, a crown will usually be necessary and provide better overall satisfaction for the patient.

Awful service dentist was late one hour. Scheduled my son for oral surgery changes plan because he doesn't have laughing gas to complete surgery. Very disappointed in this facility

I like Dr Oge very much,he's very gentle. I was kind of disappointed with my last experience. I'm 67 and the first thing that happened was my falling out of the dental chair because of the position, a young staff member came to assist me, no one else bothered to check. I was told that for $29 As a senior I could get my teeth checked and cleaned, the old X-rays were pulled up until the Dr asked were X-rays taken, then the receptionist took them and kind of hurt my gums. She kept calling the Dr when I didn't have a question for him which kind of looked like he was annoyed by that. I was told that I needed a deep cleaning otherwise cleaning my teeth was of no avail but I could go to the University of Detroit and they'll do it..and that I could get a better price. I have no gum problems. I have worked in Healthcare for 16 years when is it that any Healthcare provider makes you accept their decision if that is not what you choose to have done. Then I was told that this was misinformation and I should take that up with the receptionist because I should have been told, that I'd get the cleaning unless there were other problems. ( I should take that up with her?) I should have just kept my $29 and went grocery shopping. At least I was told that I have no cavities and I did eventually get new X-rays. But that's all. I was told that this deep cleaning would be $120, which was discounted on the deep cleaning because I didn't receive a regular cleaning. There was a lady moaning in the next room from a deep cleaning and a friend that I referred was told that he needed a deep cleaning which he got, everybody is getting deep cleaned apparently. As I said,I think that Dr Oge is an excellent Dr but on that day I wasn't happy with my experience and I'm not feeling this tech deep cleaning my teeth since she would not render any services unless I agreed to her decision to a deep cleaning and pay more money. My teeth and gums are not bad It all seemed like a gimmick to get people in. This didn't help me much.

I am currently sitting in the office. My appointment was at 4 and it is now 5:50 and the only thing they have did was take xrays. Dr is behinde and they are jumping from client to client instead of finishing one and going to the next.

If it wasn't for this dentist I would still be waiting to get my teeth fixed. Another dentist tried to pull teeth without numbing up good, which sent me into a panic attack. This not only be pulled all my teeth at once but made sure that I was never in pain throughout the procedure.

Dr. Ogie and his cleaning staff were good, the office losing your paperwork, calling you in early to then make you wait at least 30mins if not longer on 4 separate occasions has me never going back. I've walked out of 4 appts now between this location and the Livernois office with a total time wasted of 3+hrs. I've been to other dentists where this was never an issue , I wanted to give this office another try because it's so close, nope.
