Dr. Apel has been in practice in Melbourne since 1988. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, he graduated from the University of Louisville's School of Dental Medicine, a facility for training physicians and dentists. He maintained a successful private practice in Louisville for five years, but Florida's pleasant climate and the promise of year-round outside activities brought the Apels to the sunshine state.
Dr. Apel is a member in good standing with the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, Mini Dental Implant Center of Americaand the Brevard County Dental Society. He also maintains ongoing professional relationships with recognized researchers and clinicians.

Amber is very excited to be one of the new faces you will see around the office. She finds the most joy when connecting with patients and helping them feel the utmost comfort with their dental experiences. Her hobbies include riding her bike to the beach and finding her zen attending yoga classes. She has two loving animals, Shaco her black lab and Reese her calico cat. All the way from Maine, she was relieved to find her home away from home right here in the office of Dr. Apel.

I have been visiting Designing Smiles Dentistry for my dental needs, continuously, for over 11 months. I have been completely satisfied with the service and staff. The level of experience speaks for itself, and the personal touches of the 'A' team, shine above all things else. The folks genuinely care about your well-being; On one particular visit, while working an issue on my treatment plan, the doctor addressed an additional issue he saw, without fanfare, joking about making it a "three for two special today!" He could have easily and rightfully put it off for another visit, but went beyond his obligation, to do the extra task, extending the courtesy which reinforces my instincts on why I went there for services in the first place. Kudos to Dr Apel, Amber, Amy and the rest of the team, for caring and doing it right!

The most AMAZING Dentist and crew ever! Super caring, gentle, and explained every step through out the entire process. I've worked in the medical field for 15+ years and Dr. Apel is the closest thing to a DO in the dental field that I've ever run across. Treats me and my head as a whole not just my teeth. By far the best dental provider I have ever had the experience to work with. Patient and Friend for LIFE!

I have been coming here for 20 plus years. Even when we moved to Duval county, I traveled back for visits and cleanings !! Great office, Best Dentist and friendliest staff. Now we are back in Brevard County and still feel that this is the best dentist office hand downs. They treat you like family, and genuinely care for you as a total person. Dr Apel is very personable and professional. The dental hygienists does excellent work and spends all the time needed to complete the procedure. She does not rush through things.

The staff are wonderful & always so friendly! Amy the hygienist is great! Dr. Apel explains everything so that the patient understands everything in their treatment plan. I always send all my friends to Designing Smiles!

I have had two visits for services at Designing Smiles and I am so impressed! The initial exam and cleaning were clean, helpful, professional, caring, and thorough. My individual treatment plan fit my needs. The entire team treats me with the utmost care and consideration. I admitted my "dentist's chair" anxiety on the registration paperwork. Dr. Apel took his time to get to now me through the paperwork, as a person, a patient, and a client. The team guided me through having 2 front fillings today. The positive experiences I have had in the care of this team brought me to tears of joy! Having the kind and caring assistance to help me as a whole patient be able to restore and maintain my teeth is helping me improve the quality of the rest of my life.
