Dr. Eric attended Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and graduated w/honors with a DDS degree. After graduation, Dr. Eric completed a one year residency program in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery at Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Long Beach, CA. During his residency, he had intense training in dental surgery and implantology. Dr. Eric also served in several oral surgery externships in LA County Hospital and Fresno Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Eric lives with his family in Glendale. He enjoys traveling to new places and meeting people from different cultures. His favorite sport is soccer and he plays in a local peer soccer team on the weekend. Dr. Eric speaks fluently in four languages. Dr. Eric works hard to remain current with the latest dental technology and he participates in many continuing education courses.
He is a member, past and present, of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, and past president of USC Dental Association. He was 2000 USC Dental School Alumnus of the year. Honored as 2005 best part-time faculty. He was honored as 2012 Rotary Businessman of the Year. He also received Rotary Humanitarian of the Year in 2006.
Dr. Done was one of the original founders of AYUDA. An organization that has and does provide free dentistry for thousands of underserved adults and children of California. He also travels internationally with USC dental students, other dentists and volunteers to Africa and Latin American countries, providing necessary dental care.
As an implant dentist, we can replace both the root and tooth. When you use dentures or a dental bridge to replace teeth, they only replace the visible portion of the tooth. While an effective way to restore your smile and ability to eat and speak, this does not provide the level of stimulation that your jawbone needs to prevent resorption. Your root and tooth stimulate your jawbone every time that you bite down and chew. This informs the body that your jaw is serving its purpose by supporting your teeth. Without teeth, your body will begin to leach calcium from your jawbone to distribute to other areas of the body. The loss of bone density can give you a sunken appearance and make you appear far older than you actually are. By placing dental implants in our dental office, we can restore your lost tooth while preserving your jawbone and facial appearance at the same time. No other solution is as effective at doing so.
As an implant dentist, we replace teeth on a regular basis using a surgical procedure. To determine if you qualify for implant surgery, we need to examine your gums and take X-rays to find out if you have enough bone density for the procedure. If you do not, we can discuss other options like mini dental implants or the All-on-4 procedure which are also implanted, but the metal posts are smaller.
Regardless of which procedure is right for you, we can do everything in our power to give you replacement teeth that look natural, beautiful and function like your natural teeth once did. With implants, you can continue to eat all of your favorite foods, speak clearly, and have a confident smile, free from the worry that your teeth could fall out.
To qualify for this procedure, you need to have sufficient density in your jawbone, which makes it necessary to visit us quickly after tooth loss. We begin by sedating you, to help you remain comfortable and not feel anything. Very often, we put patients to sleep because it can take several hours to place all of the implants. This is a surgical procedure where we insert a titanium post under the gums and secure it to the jawbone in the place where each missing tooth was. The titanium post creates a new root that the tooth will eventually be secured to. The process of osseointegration should take place first to ensure that the new tooth has maximum stability. Since it can take a couple of months to complete the procedure, many of our patients will wear a temporary denture to give them a somewhat natural looking smile until the new tooth is secured to the implant. After the surgery, you will need to be careful with what you eat for a few days since your gums will be sore. Once the process has been completed, you will be able to eat all of your favorite foods without restriction. I've been coming here for many many years and I'd never go anywhere else. The entire staff is so kind and honest and Dr. Bowles makes you feel like family when you're in his chair. If you need any advice about dental work - this is the place!

Dr. Bowles and staff are absolutely incredible. As a kid, I very rarely went to the dentist and had awful oral hygiene through my college years. These amazing dentists got my gum disease and crooked teeth under control immediately. Three years after entering the office for the first time, my oral health is as immaculate as can be, and I owe it all to them. They are all cheerful, reassuring, and incredibly skilled. I have literally never left that office in pain, and I'll go back again and again for as long as they're around!

Definitely recommend Bowles FD. We (7 of us) have been patients for over 15 years. Five had orthodonture too-we LOVE the results from Susie and Dr. Mark. We are always in great hands with Diane as our hygienist.

They are all so sweet. Diane the hygienist is awesome and very knowlegable. They take pictures of your teeth as well as to show you how your teeth are looking so you know for sure the condition on your teeth and where you can improve in your hygene.

Our extended family has been going to Bowles Family Dental for decades, first to see Dr. Dean Bowles and now to see Dr. Mark Bowles. We have consistently enjoyed excellent care and the patient and warm staff. Both Dr. Dean and Dr. Mark are conservative in the procedures they recommend. Five stars!!
