Dr. Donovan Hansen grew up in west Mesa, Arizona. After graduating from Westwood High School, he completed his pre-dental coursework & graduated Summa Cum Laude from ASU, with a BS in Nutrition. He was accepted to the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, where he studied & received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He was awarded the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) Dental Student Award prior to graduation, & was accepted for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery specialty training at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York. His residency training focused on office-based oral surgery, dental extractions, implants, bone grafting, corrective jaw (orthognathic) surgery, facial trauma, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) surgery. He also received extensive training in intravenous (IV) and general anesthesia with the Department of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Hansen has published scholarly papers & textbook chapters on topic s including procedural sedation, facial trauma, & pathology. He enjoys the outdoors, including hiking, watersports, snowboarding, fishing & scuba diving.
Dr. Hansen is a board-certified Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life support (PALS), and is an American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor.

Would not recommend Dr Hansen. He is not honest because he told me he did not charge me for a specific procedure but I was billed for it. Also, Niva, his business manager does not know how to properly submit insurance claims with the proper codes. She told me she changed the codes. And she has convinced Dr Hansen that she is very experienced on doing the claims but she does not know which codes to use hence my insurance did not pay. I had talked to my insurance about what I needed done before scheduling an appointment with Dr Hansen and they said the procedures were covered. Dr Hansen told me that all insurance companies lie about what they will pay and then refuse to pay. This is what Niva has convinced him is the problem. I have had dental insurance for more years than Dr Hansen has had a practice and I have never had problems with my insurance paying claims. And my insurance will pay for unlimited claims. Stay away from them. When you can't trust your dentist because he has lied to you, then he needs to find another profession. Also , he quoted me a price for the procedures and then told me that was a different treatment plan and that I still owed them 22.5k more. Even though the 22.5k included everything that he was charging me separately for. And after paying them over 13k. And a second or third treatment plan was never discussed. Beware. And i was sent a bill for shy of $600 stating i knew i needed to pay the balance but Niva never said there was a balance due since i had to pay for the procedures before work was done. Do not trust him. Find another dentist who is trustworthy. And I am a senior and I wonder if they take advantage of other seniors.

I've had a wonderful experience with Dr. Hansen and his staff at Desert Valley. Dr. Hansen is extremely personable and takes the time to answer all of your questions thoroughly...and I had SO many! Never once did I feel like I was a bother. Highly recommend!

Dr. Hansen and his staff are very professional and courteous. Dr. Hansen does not over schedule his workload. He takes his time with each individual and patiently answers all questions. They are so good that they almost make going to an oral surgeon a pleasant experience!

My friend referred us to Desert Valley Oral Surgery. Dr. Hanson and his team were great to work with. My daughter had her wisdom teeth pulled a couple weeks ago. She was very nervous about getting the IV in her arm for the sedation. The nurses were so patient with us as we talked her through it and the procedure went off without a hitch. The follow up care was great too. Dr. Hanson called us personally later in the day to see how she was doing. I would highly recommend the Desert Valley Oral Surgery team. From the front desk staff to the nurses they all are great.

My experience with Dr. Hansen was fantastic! He had great advice for my impacted tooth that we ended up removing. I also had to get a tag for braces and it has been sturdy. I felt like the surgery went really well! I felt like i was in good hands. And it healed the way it needed to. He even called me after surgery to see how i was doing and if i need anything to give him a call over the weekend. I am very impressed with the care they have had for me during this process. Would totally recommend desert valley oral surgery!

I came to this office suffering from impacted wisdom teeth. I was super nervous but the staff here and at their other location were super friend and very helpful. They helped me through the whole process and even called afterwards to make sure I was handling things well. If I could I would give them 20 out of five stars.

I was referred by my regular dentist to this office for getting 4 wisdom teeth removed. All of the staff was very kind and helpful throughout the entire process. Pain and swelling afterwards were significantly lower than I expected with 4 extractions and I felt I was back to normal within a few days, fairing much better than some of the stories I had heard from friends who did not go here. The aftercare instructions were clearly communicated and easy to follow. Dr. Hansen and his staff are experts at what they do and I would highly recommend this office to anyone!

I was referred to Desert Valley Oral Surgery by my dentist to get my wisdom teeth removed. During my first visit, I was shown an extra tooth that never knew I had through the x-rays (needless to say, great equipment). The procedure went great and my recovery has been smooth. The staff is very friendly, you're in good hands there with Dr.Hansen

I had all four wisdom teeth pulled and had a great experience! From the beginning, Dr. Hansen and his team showed amazing service by making it easy to set up a date after my consultation. He is very knowledgeable and answered all questions making you feel comfortable upon surgery. I appreciated the one on one call and messaging with Dr. Hansen even after my surgery! Big shoutout to Olivia as well for all the follow-up calls and clear instructions. I already have recommended this facility to everyone who asked about my surgery. Overall, my experience was splendid definitely highly recommend!

The service provided was awesome and painless! I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled on December 3rd, 2019, of course sedation but afterwards felt no pain whatsoever! I was told to use the pain meds just in case but I had zero pain. Staff and doctors showed they cared and made me feel welcomed! I had follow up on Dec 10th and things looked great! Dr. Hansen and all of his staff made me feel so comfortable getting my wisdom teeth out. Front desk staff is absolutely amazing especially Olivia. Dr. Hansen even called later to see how I was doing. Their post-surgery instructions were easy to follow as well. They have 2 locations: Queen Creek and in Gilbert.
