Dr. Black was born and raised in Southern California. He graduated from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry (LLUSD) in May 2000 and then completed advanced training in the U.S. Air Force. He has had a broad experience within the dental industry. In August 2001, Dr. Black successfully completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency while serving in the U.S. Air Force. After three years on active duty, Dr. Black served as a full time faculty member at LLUSD and practiced both in the Faculty Dental Office (a group practice) and in the Center for Special Care Dentistry (a general anesthesia residency clinic serving special needs patients and at-risk pediatric populations). Dr. Black also served as an associate professor and director for the pre-doctoral student clinic. He has lectured internationally on various clinical and academic topics and has published several articles related to clinical dentistry. Dr. Black is highly extroverted and truly enjoys conversing and laughing with family, friends, and his patients. He appreciates the arts and has acted in community theater, performing in Bye Bye Birdie, The Hunchback of Notre Dame,and, most recently,Sense and Sensibility.Dr. Blacks true passion is his wife, Pearl, and their two daughters, Julia and Chelsea.
Dr. Black is very knowledgeable in his field of dentistry and has such a great bedside manner. Each time I am their for routine or a needed service, I am always greeted with a smile from the two friendly receptionists.
The experience at Pearl Dentistry was AMAZING! It was efficient, the staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a pleasant experience and Dr. Black had the best chair side manner ever! Grateful to have found them.
I called Desert Pearl with a dental emergency and their entire staff went out of their way to fit me in. Dr. Black had to stay late to finish my root canal which he handled superbly and professionally.

Very pleasant experience at Desert Pearl Dentristy. Staff is very friendly and accomodating and concerned with my comfort during my teeth cleaning procedure. Highly recommend this office for dental work.

Amanda is fantastic. She's helped me improve my dental hygiene in just two visits. The new dentist, Dr. Morales is laid back, a bit like Dr. Black was. It's an efficient, well run office.

Painless, professional and a super friendly great staff. The doctor was Dr. Jang and the hygienist Amanda did such a great job. They keep me relaxed and the experience was chill. I was in disbelief my filling was done so quickly. There management even came to check up on me since it was the first time I was there. 5 out of 5 a must if you want the job done right the first time.

Desert pearl was amazing!! From the staff, dentist, hygienist and office manager we're all wonderful. It had been a while since I had been in for a cleaning and to get my teeth checked they were all friendly informative and made me feel at ease. They were very patient and took the time to let me know what they were doing gave amazing customer service I left feeling reassured and with an amazing plan to keep my teeth healthy I gave them a five star recommendation and would recommend anyone in need of amazing dental care to definitely go to desert Pearl dental. My husband and I will only be going here.

Dr. Black was my guy! The new office staff is a hard no for me though!!! Update: The office was sold and is being run as a normal dental office again. Dr. Morales was great and the staff was all friendly and knowledgeable! What a great turn around! I do wish Dr. Black all the best and hope he trusts his patients in the future when they alert him to problems with staff he's chosen to hire.

I was dealing with what we thought was gum disease for months. Doing new X-rays showed more bone loss on the left side (my previous dentist said this may occur). After my cleaning & xrays, Dr. Morales removed the back tooth, and said all the infection I had dealt with was not gum disease, but from the bone loss situation. I was able to take my vacation as scheduled, and had a fabulous time!!
