Assisting Dr. Jugan is a team of certified oral and maxillofacial surgical assistants who administer anesthetic, are on hand during surgery, and who monitor patients before and after procedures. They set patients at ease by answering their questions and explaining procedures.
Last but not least is Dr. Milan Jugan. Dr. Jugan is an oral and maxillofacial surgeon who specializes in oral surgery, extractions, and implants for patients in and around Palm Desert, La Quinta, and Indio, CA as well as the rest of the Coachella Valley. He is a strong advocate for patient education and comfort, both physical and emotional. Dr. Jugans minimally-invasive approach is less taxing on patients and promotes efficient healing. He always works closely with patients to ensure they understand all of the options available to them and to help them make the best choice for their specific situation.
Milan J. Dugan, DMD has been practicing oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Desert Maxillofacial Center in the Coachella Valley since 2013. Prior to joining us, Dr. Jugan served as a general dentist aboard ship with the U.S. Navy for 20 years and as a clinical instructor at two of the U.S. Navys oral & maxillofacial surgery residency programs for 12 years.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dr. Jugan received his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1992 from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine and completed a four-year residency program in oral and maxillofacial facial surgery at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth in 2002. He received advanced Fellowship training at the University of Alabama at Birmingham in facial cosmetic surgery.
It was Dr. Jugans time in the Navy that first led to an interest in oral and maxillofacial surgery due in part to his naval experiences with and exposure to facial reconstruction. His training and skills were tested and honed as he treated and reconstructed facial injuries suffered by active duty personnel during combat operations. Dr. Jugan served aboard amphibious assault ships USS NASSAU and USS BOXER as well as the aircraft carriers USS RONALD REAGAN and USS GEORGE WASHINGTON. He later deployed in direct support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom.
Dr. Jugan is board-certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology and is currently serving a term as an examiner for the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He frequently lectures to general dentists and oral & maxillofacial surgeons on topics ranging from management of facial trauma to esthetic facial surgery and has published several articles and book chapters related to these topics.
Dr. Jugan is an active member of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the California Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, and the San Diego County Dental Society. Affiliated with Desert Regional Medical Center, in Palm Springs, CA, he cooperates with other doctors and specialists in the medical group Emergency Associates Corporation.
