There are several things that can lead to a chipped tooth. This includes playing sports, biting into hard or crunchy foods, or even a clumsy accident. If you experience a broken tooth and arent sure what to do, contact our dentists to receive high-quality emergency dental care.

Just like with a broken or chipped tooth, accidents can happen when you least expect. Having a tooth knocked out can be severe and it is important to see your dentist as soon as possible. Be sure to rinse off the root of the tooth if it has any dirt or debris, and place the tooth in a glass of milk to preserve it for the restoration process.

A tooth abscess is a small pocket of pus that can be seen pushing out of a swollen gum. This bacterial infection is typically caused by a cavity that hasnt been treated, an injury, or previous dental work. If you are experiencing pain and can locate a swollen area in the gums, you may need to see an emergency dentist.

While dental emergencies are rare, if a traumatic event occurs contact any of our offices as soon as possible. In these situations, X-rays are often necessary to determine the extent of the injury or incident and to determine the proper methods of treatment for your particular case.

At Toothologie we understand that visiting the dentist can be overwhelming for some of our patients. Thats why we offer several options for sedation to ease your dental anxiety. These options include:

The American Dental Association recommends getting your teeth cleaned every 6 months, or twice a year. This can ensure you are maintaining healthy oral hygiene habits and prevent any serious dental issues in the long-term.

Dr. Sandy Derringer grew up in Lake Worth, a smaller city, on the South East Coast of Florida. She received her dental hygiene degree in 1988. After practicing as a dental hygienist just a few short years, she discovered her love for dentistry and decided to further her education. She completed her didactic requirements for dental school, moved to Louisville and earned her doctorate from University of Louisville School of Dentistry in 1997. In August 1998, Dr. Derringer opened her Dental Practice in the original Kroger shopping center in Union, KY. She practiced at this location for approximately 13 years, then constructed the building on US Highway 42 where the practice continues to thrive. Although Dr. Derringer sold her dental practice, she will continue her love of treating patients at the same location. Dr. Derringer passed the handpiece to Dr. Jason Ford on February 4, 2021. They discussed the various ways to join as dental partners for about 3 years, and was finally decided Dr. Ford to purchase the practice and Dr. Derringer to remain as an associate partner. She is so thrilled for Dr. Ford as he is a highly skilled, dedicated and compassionate dentist, who brings additional treatment modalities to patients such as sedation dentistry, dental implants and surgeries.

Dr. Derringer humbly recognizes shes a dental nerd and continues her advanced studies in technologies and patient care each year. Its important to her to invest in technologies to provide precise restorations and prostheses while using the most comfortable delivery system for the patient. For 24 years (and counting), Dr. Derringer thoroughly enjoys meeting, treating and developing rapport with her patients. Her professional affiliations are ADA, KDA, Northern KY Dental Society, CEREC Docs, Spear Education, Northern KY Top Dentists and Cincinnati Magazine Top Dentists.

This happy newly-wed lives in Cincinnati with her husband, Joe. Her daughters, Emily and Erica, reside nearby while they attend advanced and doctorate educations. Dr. Derringer gained 4 additional amazing stepchildren, AJ, Alex, Matt and TJ, that live in Florida, California and Missouri.
