This is the practice of Dr. Derrick Flint, a licensed medical doctor, dentist, and board certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. With two doctoral degrees and 5 years of resident specialty training in anesthesia, general surgery, cleft-lip and palate surgery, and oral and maxillofacial surgery, his patients feel confident in trusting his professional advice and his surgical skills.
Dr. Flint is supported by a team of professionals who help ensure that everything runs smoothly. From front desk staff to surgical assistants, every member of our team is hand-selected for their professional skills and their friendly and approachable manner.
Our practice is conveniently located. Dr. Flint performs surgery at our fully inspected and equipped surgical suite as well as multiple area Hospitals including Seton, St. Davids, Dell Childrens Medical Center and Dell/Seton University Medical Center. We even have advanced 3D imaging and Implant navigation available in our office for the best surgical outcome.
Office Administrator/Insurance Coordinator Perla assisted Dr. Flint with the opening of the practice, August 2015 and her current role is office manager and insurance specialist. Perla was born in Monterrey, Mexico and moved to Austin at an early age and is very fluent in Spanish. Perla has worked in the medical field for over 11 years before transitioning to the dental field. Her knowledge of billing and coding makes her a valuable member of the team along with her compassionate and understanding nature. Perla also ensures all aspects of the practice are flowing smoothly.
Assistant Office Administrator/Patient Coordinator Maggie began her dental career over 20 years ago in Austin starting as an assistant before transitioning to the front office. Maggie joined Oral Surgery Specialists of Austin in May 2016 and is knowledgeable with insurance as well as back office. She is one of the faces that will greet you in reception or answer your calls with her bubbly personality.
Surgical Assistant Nahut was born in California and moved to Austin in 2008. She joined Oral Surgery Specialists of Austin in February 2016 and is a great asset to our team. Nahut has been in the dental field for over 13 years; received her RDA certificate in 2008 and is a highly trained surgical assistant. She stays current with continuing dental education classes, as well. Nahut is fluent in Spanish and loves helping our Spanish speaking patients feel comfortable and at ease.
Surgical Assistant Robert is a native Austinite and has been an active part of the dental field for the past 8 years. He is the most recent member of the Oral Surgery Specialists of Austin team since August 2016. Robert stays current with continuing dental education classes, he received his RDA certificate in 2008, preferring oral surgery over general dentistry and is fluent in Spanish, as well. Roberts compassionate and excellent patient care is quick to put patients at ease.

Intraoral x-rays are the most common type of dental radiograph. To conduct a digital intraoral x-ray, a small electronic sensor is placed in the mouth. The sensor allows us to capture images of your teeth, roots, and supportive bone without the use of film slides. The position of the electronic sensor is dictated by the type of intraoral x-ray you need.
Digital x-rays omit up to 90% less radiation than a film x-ray. They also allow us to magnify or manipulate the image to gain a more comprehensive overview of your oral structures. Without the film development process, we can retake an x-ray instantly and share them electronically, all without affecting the environment.

I needed four wisdom teeth extracted and I couldn't have had a better experience. Nahut and Juan were very friendly, professional, and communicative about the process. Dr. Flint is is very experienced as he adminstered the sedative and before I know it, I wake up and it's over in less than 30 minutes. I felt no pain or discomfort durring the procedure or the hours that followed. I strongly recommend this office.

Charming, professional, efficient staff. I love that. Particularly good talking about money. Dr. Flint provided rapid, expert care and ensured my ability to tolerate the procedure of having a painful back molar extracted. I am very grateful. They provided the post-op teaching and followup reading. How could they improve? This may be just my taste - by adding warmth - a calm, older gentle person to talk about implants or other procedure - some plants, warm paintings - patient education on their website re' their services and style. John, one of the dental assistants came and sat down beside me in the waiting area. Can not say fully how much it means to a fearful new patient to be put at ease and laugh. I bet it leads to cooperation even when in pain, and especially a better outcome.

This surgeon is incredibly likeable. How likeable do you have to be to have feel goods when the dentist is telling you he's gonna yank your teeth out and scrape away some bone? Highly recommend.

Went in to get all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed, Dr.Flint and his whole staff made me feel so comfortable. I was put under IV sedation, which made the process feel so quick and painless!

The staff here are absolutely awesome. They went above and beyond to help my husband. They gave us all the info needed and we're extremely nice and honestly delightful to speak with. The guys in the back did a superb job and eased my husband's worry. Would highly recommend taking your loved ones here!

Never heard of a dentist to Charge you a Fee for trying to reschedule a appointment. Not good for business at all. People get busy all the time and reschedule, I was never told of this either. I haven't even met the staff yet and it already started off bad. I advise anyone to make sure they don't do this to you an try to charge you 75-150 fee for trying to reschedule. Taking my business elsewhere.
