Dr. D was born and raised in Corpus Christi. He started off at Windsor Park Elementary, attended Baker Middle School, and graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 2003. From there he went on to Texas A&M in College Station, TX where he met his beautiful wife while studying towards his bachelors degree in Biology. Dr. D is a 2011 graduate of Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, TX where he was involved with many organizations and served in several different officer positions. He was also named to the Baylor College of Dentistry Deans Honor List in 2011.
Since graduating dental school he excitedly returned to Corpus Christi and worked alongside Dr. Perrin in the practice he grew up in. Since Dr. Perrins retirement in 2011, Dr. D has been working in the same office treating patients with respect and care. He has made every effort to create a state of the art dental practice bringing energy and enthusiasm into your oral health care. He puts a lot of value toward patient education in oral health and prevention of disease and tooth decay. Dr. Chang is active in the local component of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and Corpus Christi Dental Study Club. In staying active with these societies, Dr. D has the opportunity to pursue continuing education and professional development.
In 2017, Dr. D was inducted as a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry receiving the FAGD designation. Less than 10% of dentists hold this designation nationwide and signifies recognition by others in the field as a leader and exemplifies the importance of quality continuing dental education. Requirements to apply for this designation include 500 continuing education hours, passing a written test, and being a member for 3 consecutive years.
Dr. D is also active in community organizations such as the Nueces Co. A&M Club, CC Tennis Association, and Rising Tide Society. He is a Leadership Corpus Christi class of 42 graduate, and 2012 recipient of the Corpus Christi 40 Under 40 award and served on the steering committee between 2015 and 2017.
Dashia Brown has worked with Dr. Chang since 2011. She is our teams financial and treatment coordinator and works very hard to make sure patients benefits are maximized and are accommodated. She spends her free time with her two children, a dog, and a cat. She enjoys trips to the beach to relax.
Elizabeth Cruz has been a dental hygienist since 2009 and joined Dr. Changs practice in 2014. She is from New York and fluent in Spanish. She prides her self on educating patients and taking care of their dental hygiene needs. During her time off she enjoys working out, living healthy, and spending time with her son.
Michelle Martinez or Shelly started in the dental field as a child in this very clinic with her mom running the front office for Dr. Perrin. Its an honor for her to be back as part of Dr. Changs team. Patient advocacy is a passion for her as she enjoys working with people. She takes pride in providing wonderful and caring experiences for our patients.
Bianca Estrada grew up and lives in Sinton. She has been a Registered Dental Assistant for 9 years! She loves helping make peoples smiles better She has two boys, Tae and MJ who keep her busy. She enjoys free time with her family playing outside, at the beach, or just hanging out!
Marian Mapue was born in the Philippines and moved to Corpus Christi when she was 6. She received her RDA from Del Mar. In her free time, she enjoys going to the beach and spending time outdoors with her two dogs. She hopes to make an impact on the community and help people with their oral health.
Alyssa Zarate was born and raised in Corpus Christi Texas. She has two miniature schnauzers and hobbies include playing tennis and traveling. She also enjoys spending time with family and friends. She has been a Registered Dental Assistant for 3 1/2 years and really enjoys getting to know each patient to help them achieve the perfect smile.

I needed to see a dentist right away as my tooth had been hurting since a week during our vacation. Dr. Chang sqeezed me in his busy schedule because I needed the dental care right away. He took care of the immediate need and explained the long term treatment plan that I will follow. I am very happy with Dr. Chang and his staff.

Everyone is so nice and seem like they care. I was nervous and in pain, the staff and dentist made sure I was comfortable and in least amount of pain as possible. I highly recommend Dr. Chang and his staff! I never write reviews but felt like the experience was that wonderful! Thank you.

I know that most people tend to overexaggerate about positive or negative reviews, especially about dental offices, but I can't stress enough how much I love this office. I, personally, have been through the ringer for dental work in my life and I fell in love with this office so much that Dr. Chang might be the only place I'll ever go to or recommend.

If I could give 20 stars to Dr Chang and his staff, I would! They go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable! I'm an anxious patient but they are so wonderfully sweet and patient that I was much more calm in a matter of minutes!! I will always recommend this awesome doctor and his equally awesome staff to anyone needing dental care!

Dr. Chang and his staff are an awesome bunch! My whole family goes here, even though we have some difficult dental issues, We are always treated with dignity and respect. My elderly parents went here as well, and I watched the staff go out of their way to accommodate my father when he was visibly grumpy about not understanding the billing process, even lowering the bill a bit since he ended up paying out of pocket. Also, The Dental Trch Elizabeth gave my husband one of the most painless cleanings, which is hard to do for him as he has very sensitive gums.Quality service, highly recommend!

I normally don't leave reviews but when I am taken aback I feel it's my job to acknowledge hard work and dedication. I was referred by a friend. Dr. Derek Chang's office and practice is the absolute best!!! His Reception area has the best Customer service!! His assistants are also great! Dr. Chang has the best bedside manner, professionalism, knowledge and passion for his work. I send my family there and I will go there again and again!!!
