Our dental office regularly gets involved in the community, and we have several organizations that are near and dear to us. Dr. Whitehouse participates in sponsoring local families dental healthcare, and we also volunteer our time and skills to Hope Smiles, Boys and Girls Club, Texas Mission of Mercy, Greater Austin-Area Food Bank, and countless other amazing groups who make Austin a better place.
Dr. Whitehouse wanted to be a dentist for as long as she can remember. She had the same dentist her entire childhood, and she took less than ideal care of her teeth growing up, so she became very familiar with dentistry at an early age. Because her dentist was so compassionate and non-threatening, the dental office was not a scary place for her. Today, she has extensive work that needs regular maintenance and additional care. This makes her a compassionate provider who can relate to patients and allows her to explain and manage their dental needs in a nonjudgmental way.
Dr. Whitehouse received her Bachelor of Science degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Western Kentucky University, and then she earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine from the University of Louisville School of Dentistry (which is considered to be one of the top dental programs in the US).
She currently attends the prestigious Kois Center(an advanced graduate program for practicing general dentists) and completes as many hours of continuing education as her schedule will allow. She is also a certified Invisalign provider and a member of the Texas Dental Association and American Dental Association.
Dr. Whitehouse and her husband, Andrew, have a young son as well as a daughter on the way, so spending time with her growing family is her biggest priority outside of dentistry. When she can, she likes to travel so she can learn about new cultures firsthand, plus she often takes trips to provide dental care to underserved areas in the US. To relax, she loves a good puzzle or board game, and she also enjoys watching documentaries.
Dr. Kilkelly was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. After finishing her undergraduate studies, she decided to head south to warmer weather in Texas and hasnt left since. As a dentist, she enjoys having the opportunity to cultivate lifelong relationships with her patients in a nurturing environment. For her, the best thing about her job is helping people feel confident in their smiles and ensuring they have optimal health. Before you get to meet her here at Derby Dental, you can start getting to know her below.
After graduating with a degree in religious studies and spending time living in India, Dr. Kilkelly became a bicycle mechanic. She loved the job but knew she wanted to do something different with her life, so she thought about what she enjoyed about being a bike mechanic. She liked working with customers, solving problems, and fixing things. Additionally, many of the children living in the town where she stayed in India had severe dental needs. She wanted to be able to help alleviate the pain and suffering she saw, so she started shadowing a few local dentists. Eventually, she realized that dentistry was the perfect intersection of her interests and talents.
Dr. Kilkelly received her bachelors degree from Grinnell College and earned her doctorate in dental surgery at Texas A&M College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas. After receiving her dental degree, she spent an additional year in advanced training at the Hennepin County Medical Center. From 2013-2019, she worked at a local dental clinic providing care for medically compromised patients.
Today, Dr. Kilkelly actively continues to further her education and has taken hundreds of hours of advanced training to ensure she can provide her patients with the best possible care. She is a member of many local study clubs, including the Texas Dental Association (TDA), American Dental Association (ADA), Capital Area Dental Society (CADS), and the American Academy of Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH).
When she isnt taking care of patients, Dr. Kilkelly likes to stay active, whether this involves mountain biking, road riding, paddleboarding, canoeing, or kayaking. Her more relaxed hobbies include cooking, reading, and sewing. She also dedicates a lot of time to mission work, providing dental care to underprivileged populations locally, nationally, and internationally.
