Dr. Smith grew up in Bend. He has always loved Central Oregon and his home town. Growing up Dr. Smith enjoyed snowboarding, playing soccer, golfing, fishing, Boy Scouts (he is an Eagle Scout) and drumming in school and social bands. In 2004, Dr. Smith graduated from Summit High School and headed to the University of Oregon. Go Ducks! Dr. Smith graduated from the University of Oregon with a bachelor's in Human Physiology and a double minor in business and chemistry. nDr. Smith then started his 10-year out-of-state journey by attending The Ohio State University for his dental education. It was during dental school that Dr. Smith’s passion for comprehensive dental care, surgery, and digital technology was born and nurtured. This is also where Dr. Smith met Dr. Tom Spoonster and their friendship began. n nAfter he graduated from Ohio State University and he served as a Captain in the United States Army for four years. Dr. Smith was stationed in Seoul, South Korea, and Ft Bragg, North Carolina where he worked closely and collaborated with many dental specialists, oral surgeons, periodontists, endodontists, prosthodontists, and orthodontists

Dr. Smith was stationed in Seoul, South Korea, and Ft Bragg, North Carolina where he worked closely and collaborated with many dental specialists, oral surgeons, periodontists, endodontists, prosthodontists, and orthodontists.

Dr. Tom Spoonster was born and raised in northeast Ohio. He earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of Dayton while majoring in pre-medicine/ pre-dentistry. He then attended The Ohio State University College of Dentistry where he met Dr. Alex Smith. They quickly became very good friends, bonding over mutual interests in music, skiing and snowboarding, and an eagerness to help others by keeping up with the latest and greatest ways to treat their patients. During their senior year in dental school, they traveled together to Dr. Smith’s hometown of Bend, OR, to ski Mt. Bachelor. n nIt was then that Dr. Tom knew he would one day like to move west to enjoy more of the outdoor activities that are so prevalent there. After Dental School he completed a general practice residency at Mercy Medical Center in Canton, Ohio. There he received hands-on training with many representatives of the various dental specialties including endodontics, pediatrics, periodontics, oral surgery, and orthodontics. He also did full mouth rehabilitation for patients with developmental disabilities under general anesthesia in an OR setting. n nHe felt that this time was important in gaining more experience in procedures such as root canals and implants so that he could better care for his patients

My first visit to Denture Artistry was today and all I can say is very impressive. The most modern dental facility I've ever seen and the friendliest staff on the planet. I was in for my initial visit and evaluation but also had an emergency condition that needed attention. They gave me excellent care and slotted me in for what will be a long appointment tomorrow. I couldn't have asked for more. Kudos to the doctors and staff. Update #1: After my second appointment I'm even happier. Excellent care in an emergency situation. A difficult root canal and a new crown and now I'm pain free. Thank you to the excellent professional staff and especially Dr Smith, Maria, and Bri. Excellent! Update #2: My third visit was today. Another great experience overall. Extremely professional service from Dr Smith plus a staff that really makes you feel welcome. Transparent pricing and maximum respect for cash customers like me. I couldn't possibly be happier. Customer for life. Update #3 I started the process of a bridge replacement today. More ultra professional care from Dr Smith and his staff. This is the finest dental care I've ever received. Thanks!

I went to my biannual teeth cleaning. My experience was comfortable and I felt pretty relaxed. While x-rays are not fun, the newest equipment makes it quick and the least bothersome possible. The office is always clean and the staff are friendly.

After putting off implants on my two front teeth for years, I was referred to Denture Artistry. Now only one week into treatment, I know I made the right choice and it will be so worth it. Dr Tom is obviously a skilled surgeon and very willing to communicate about the process and address all concerns. Such teamwork with the guy who takes you to your happy place and was there 3 hours later when I woke up with temp crowns. The assistants, hygienist and front office staff are all very caring and friendly. Has not been the experience I dreaded for all those years, I am happy to say!!

I have been to this dentist twice. I had no problem with their dental work, but I do have a major issue with what just transpired regarding who was financially responsible for a crown broken by the dentist. I went in 4 weeks ago to have a broken back molar extracted. I paid about $1100 for this procedure, which I had agreed to. I was told right towards the end of the procedure that there was a slight mishap. "These things happen" I was told. The dentist had broken the crown on the tooth in front of the molar he extracted. There was nothing wrong with this crown. He said he could try to rebuilt the existing crown, or better...he recommended getting a new crown in about 4 weeks. So, I got out of the chair agreeing to getting a new crown. NEVER did he say a word about the fact that he Planned to charge me FULL price for the crown that HE broke! I was in a lot of pain when I left, so the new crown was not first on my mind. As I walked out of the office I did ask about payment and was told I would need to pay and that crowns cost $995. I was furious, so I got the advise of two other dentists. Both told me he should of negotiated the price, and probably have me pay 1/2 normal cost.instead I got a call a few weeks later from his assistant informing me it would be $1200, not $995. I ended up going to a new dentist and had the new crown put in and it was less than $1200. The dentist should of dealt with this issue and told me right there in the chair what I was going to have to pay for his mistake. I would have chosen for him to fix the existing crown.
