Upon completion of his dental degree, Dr. Mark returned to California to pursue a residency in General Practice at the VA Medical Center at Loma Linda. This was a great opportunity and provided him with advanced training in surgery, complex restorative dentistry and hospital based dental delivery.
Dr. Mark has been practicing in Long Beachsince 1996 focusing on General, Implant and Appearance Related Dental Care. He recently received the prestigious Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry. The Fellowship Award is presented to dentists working to provide the highest quality of dental care by remaining current in their profession. In order to receive the award, Dr. Mark had to complete over 500 hours of continuing dental education and pass a comprehensive written examination. In addition,he completed a one year mini-residency in Cosmetic Dentistry with Esthetic Professionals in Tarzana, California in 2009.
Dr. Mark lives in Long Beach with his wife Ana (also a 1983 Millikan grad!), and their children, Elliott and Lily. He is a member of the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Harbor Dental Society, AmericanAcademy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and is aFellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is also a member of the Naples IslandBusiness Association.

Amazing treatment at Dr. Meckes's office. They brought me in right at my appointment time, did a thorough cleaning, and didn't try to sell me anything! After the proverbial used-car-lot dentists I've been seeing, the professionalism at Dentistry on the Island was a welcome change.

My mouthpiece for sleep Apnea no longer fit me so I took a chance and popped in to see Dr. Meckes without an appointment. He took a little break from what he was doing and came right in to see me. I was so impressed to have his immediate attention with such short notice. We are so fortunate to have Dr. Meckes and his wonderful staff available to help us stay healthy. SMILING!

Once you arrive, you are greeted by name. You will only wait a few minutes before the assistant escorts you to your examination room. The staff are very pleasant and the environment is as well. I feel confident of the expertise that is given me at this office

The team always makes every visit a pleasure. I appreciate the way they make you feel at ease and explain thoroughly what to except - whether it's a cleaning or check up or if you are there because of a specific problem. This is the only dentist office I will ever see!

Terry the hygienist, does great work. Too bad she will be leaving by years' end. We will miss her. Happy retirement- Mark is so welcoming and always willing to sit down and chat about what you may need.

Dr. Mekes is the best! Honest, doesn't suggest work that doesn't need to be done. He explains everything that he is going to do and it is painless. Best of all, he is available to his clients. If you have an emergency, he will get you in!
