We believe that the impressions children form at a young age about dentistry, and their own personal dental care, begin with their earliest dental visits. These impressions must be positive and must carry forward into adulthood.

Our doctors and staff have achieved the highest levels of education and training in the specialized field of Pediatric Dentistry. It is our goal, as Pediatric Dental specialists, to insure that our patients have the best experiences possible, under all circumstances, so that they will continue to be comfortable in the dental environment.

We also believe that both prevention at a very young age and parental involvement in the preventive aspect of dental disease are essential to long term oral health. It is our desire and responsibility to educate both the parents and the patients of our practice. We hope that this will enable them to maintain an informed and positive focus on dental health for the rest of their lives.

It is universally acknowledged that Primary or 'baby' teeth are very different than permanent or 'adult' teeth. Pediatric Dentists are specially trained and are required to complete a two year residency program in addition to the standard four years of dental school.

Pediatric Dentists are, essentially, 'Pediatricians of the Mouth.' Just as most enlightened and caring parents choose to have their children treated by a Pediatrician, instead of their adult doctor, Pediatric Dentists are better educated and equipped to treat children and childhood diseases and, through specialized education, training and experience, are aware of the differences and the oral problems that are most common to children.

For example, many family or general dentists do NOT advise parents to have their children examined beginning at age one and instead, wait to examine children at age three or four. Pediatric Dentists know that this delay in examination and potential treatment is unacceptable and potentially harmful to your child's oral health. In addition, the current standard of care by the American Dental Association, The American Academy of Pediatrics, The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Hygiene Association recommends the first dental visit within 6 months of the first tooth or the FIRST DENTAL VISIT BY AGE ONE! This is done to establish a dental home in the event of an emergency and to guide parents on prevention of dental disease and problems.

Primary teeth are susceptible to decay as soon as they erupt into the mouth. The science of Pediatric Dentistry has proven that waiting until ages three or four is often too late to discuss prevention as many of these young children already have cavities.

In addition, many very young children fall and injure their mouths and should be seen to assess the problem. Pediatric Dentists are equipped with the proper size instruments and X-ray films to evaluate the oral trauma.

Finally and most importantly, Pediatric Dentists are trained in the behavior management of the child - at any age. This allows our doctors and staff to treat your child in a professional, kind and empathetic manner which will empower them to look forward to their next visit to the dentist.

We are new patients of Dr Kohn's, but boy am I already glad we went here. My not-yet-2 year old had a bad fall and Dr Kohn got her in same-day when I called. The office staff are so child-centered, from the pleasant receptionist I spoke with to make the appointment, to Elise being greeted by Ms Lynn the Dental Tech, and of course, the exam by Dr Kohn. The whole step of the way they focuses on the child in a developmentally appropriate way. Any dental experience for a 1 year old is likely to be unpleasant, but they truly made it as painless as it could've been.

This office was highly recommended to us, and we weren't disappointed! Dr. Kohn and her team were wonderful with my 3 year old daughter. She had to have a cavity filled and the whole event was a very positive experience for her. They were also great about answering my questions and putting my nerves at ease. The dentist took the time to carefully examine my son and was great at explaining the situation and why certain procedures needed to happen. I liked her demeanor while working and I see that she really knows what she is doing.

My son has been going to this dentist over 5 years. While the location is relatively far from where we live I continue bringing him here because they are excellent!!! My son who is now 11 enjoys his visits as well. The staff always has an upbeat inviting energy. The video games they have for the kids to play while they wait to be seen (which is not a long wait, if a wait at all) is another detail that makes them the best. In the time my son has been a patient we have loved every minute and recommend anyone with kids to make an appointment. Not only will you not be disappointed, your kids will actually enjoy going to the dentist.

This group is very well run...plenty of reminders, short wait time if any, kid friendly team one and all who can handle the adults well too. No unnecessary wait time for anything. Lots of explanations about next steps, dental health, anticipated changes and growth issues. Good prizes for the patient and samples to go. This kid will not grow up with the dental anxiety I have.
