Dr. Kisha Steele Mitchell joined the amazing team at Dentistry for Kids in 2016, and became the proud new owner in 2017. Dr. Mitchell has a passion for working with children, and strives to make each dental visit an enjoyable experience in a kid-friendly environment. She feels most accomplished when she helps a fearful child become relaxed and look forward to their dental visits. It is her goal to partner with families from infancy through adolescence to help children achieve their best dental health.
Dr. Mitchell received her education at Howard University in Washington, DC where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Mathematics in 2002, a Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree in 2006, completed a residency in Orthodontics in 2008, and later completed a residency in Pediatric Dentistry in 2016. Dr. Mitchell is one of very few dental specialists Board Certified in both Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics. This unique training and experience makes her the ideal provider to address the comprehensive dental needs of children.
Dr. Mitchell is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, National Dental Association, Old North State Dental Society, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
Dr. Dana E. Nelson joined the Dentistry for Kids team in 2020. She has a passion for helping children develop good dental habits that can be maintained for a lifetime of good oral health, and has been an amazing addition to our growing team.
Dr. Nelson earned her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology and minor in chemistry from Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, Florida in 2002. She went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC, in 2006. Following dental school, Dr. Nelson completed a general practice residency in 2007 at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, New Jersey, which included instruction in pediatric dentistry and treatment for children in the hospital setting.
After completing her education and dental training, Dr. Nelson moved to North Carolina where she began to work in the public health setting for many years. It was during her public health experience that she solidified her desire to devote her dental career to childrens dentistry.
Dr. Nelson is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the Old North State Dental Society. Dr. Nelson is also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte NC. When she is not serving children, Dr. Nelson enjoys church, traveling, long outdoor runs, as well as arts and crafts projects.

I highly recommend Dentisrty for Kids. All staff are so welcoming and nice . My kids love them. They are very professional. I was more nervous than my kids but when they answered all my questions clearly this made me very comfortable. Even my 3 years old daughter feels ver comfy and relaxed. My 8 year old needed two teeth pulled and they were great. My daughter is nicely said dramatic and they were able to work with her to make her not freak out and get it done! So glad we found this office.

Everyone made my 2.5 year-old son feel welcome and comfortable for his first experience at the dentist. I was probably more nervous than he was! He was able to sit on my lap for x-rays and the cleaning. The procedure was over quickly, and the dentist took the time to answer all my questions. Overall, a positive experience!

I Highly recommend Dentistry For Kids! We relocated from NY with our children about 7 years ago. Having moved down to NC with out knowing a soul I was uneasy when it came to selecting our children's new Physician and Dentist. I am truly happy with the service they provide my children, everyone in the office is extremely friendly. They make my children love and enjoy their dental check ups! Highly recommended!!

Dentistry for Kids has provided service to our kid for almost 10 years, the service is still great and still finds some way to improve. The staff provides appropriate feedback to to keep your child mouth clean, and cavity free. Thanks to the team for friendly, knowledgeable service each and every visit! My children have been patients at Dentistry for kids since they were 2yrs old. They are now 8 and 15 and still love going to the dentist. The staff are very pleasant and supportive with their care plans. I also love that Dr. Mitchell is an orthodontist and we did not have to see another doctor for braces.

I have gone to this pediatric dentist facility since my children were 3 years old. The staff, hygienist and doctor are professional and courteous. They are transparent in educating you on what's going on with your child teeth health. Nowadays it's very hard to trust medical professionals due to the fact that they overcharge you or keep you in the dark. I never have found that is the case with this provider. I trust them a 110% with the health of my children's teeth. UPDATE 3/24/21: Once again, I can't emphasize the amount care and cleanliness is put into this facility! During such a period of concern of exposing ourselves to COVID-19, this pediatric dentist has such a unbelievable protocol of keeping there staffs and patients safe. The steps they take from having all of us wash our hands upon entering the area where they will check my children teeth, to wearing gear that will protect both parties. They have gone above and beyond. This is coming from a Mom that has one child that is considered "high risk" and I hesitate to go anywhere with my children. After, seeing there process of keeping all of us protected, I feel safe and trusted them with my child.

My daughter is only four, her first experience with a dentist did not go well...they were cold and not engaging with children. When we moved to Dentistry For Kids, I was weary because she was already so scared....However, this place is amazing! Everyone is so friendly and engaging. My daughter is no longer afraid and is excited to go to the Dentist!!!

This practice is amazing. Everyone was really nice, I brought all 3 kids in at the same time so I was expecting it to be a little chaotic, the ladies that work here a super professional and patient. The dentist explained everything to me in a way I could understand. Couldn't have asked for a better experience.
