My profession means to me that I can be a dentist and an educator, which enables me to make a difference in peoples lives on a daily basis. Working with so many unique people every day makes me realize that every person and situation is different, and at Dentistry for Children, we treat everyone and every situation individually. I love seeing patients grow and become participating partners in their own oral health. Dr. Maher

Dr. Rachel Maher is passionate about sharing her dental knowledge and expertise, along with educating her patients and their parents. She loves seeing her patients' oral health improve because of the education provided to them.

Dr. Maher graduated from Alvernia College in Reading, PA with a Bachelor of Science in biology. She then attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine where she received her Doctorate in Dental Medicine. Dr. Maher completed a general dental residency program at Christiana Care Health Services in Wilmington, DE. She then went on for advanced studies in Pediatric Dentistry at Childrens Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, OH.

As a dental professional, Dr. Maher is a lifelong learner. She continually pursues current technology and information by attending annual continuing education courses. This allows her to be to be informed about the most current, gold standard care and implement it on a daily basis with her patients.

Dr. Maher volunteers at Christiana Care as a pediatric dental attending teaching the general practice residents about pediatric dentistry. She is Past President of the Delaware State Dental Society and actively participates in dental society activities, including a project she initiated called Educate to Eliminate and by being the Delaware Delegate to the American Dental Association. Your childs first visit to the dentist can set the stage for their opinion of dentistry for the rest of their life. We suggest sharing with your child positive stories that describe a trip to the dentist. Parents should convey good feelings to children about dental visits being a part of growing up, and take a positive approach to dental care.

Our fun atmosphere and friendly staff strive to develop a trusting relationship with every child and teenager through kindness and patience by nurturing positive attitudes and creating an enjoyable dental experience.

We understand that emergencies happen, including pain, swelling, bleeding, fractured teeth, and lost fillings. Whatever the issue is, if its an emergency to you, its an emergency to us.
