Dr. Joseph Chan graduated from the University of California Berkeley with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular and Cell Biology. After engaging in genetic research at a private pharmaceutical company, he found his calling pursuing a career in the field of dentistry rather than research. In 2000, Dr. Chan received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Columbia University.
He became certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry by earning his specialty degree through Boston Universitys two-year pediatric dental specialty training. Dr. Chan has been practicing in Sparks, Nevada since 2002. In his spare time, Dr. Chan enjoys traveling with his family, gardening, and volunteering. He is an active participant at the Washoe School District AVID program where he counsels high school students in the college application process.
Dr. Mary Ann Michael was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois. She received her undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and then graduated in 2008 from the University of Michigan.
After working several years in General Dentistry Dr. Michael found her passion in treating children and decided to limit her practice to pediatrics. Dr. Michael has two beautiful girls and a boisterous golden retriever puppy. In her spare time, Dr. Michael enjoys traveling, running, reading, and spending time with her family.

I attempted to schedule my two girls appointments over the phone but who ever I spoke to last week was completely rude. If thats how they speak to you over the phone I can't imagine how they treat you!

I've been going here for over 3 years now, and everytime I go in I'm treated kindly and always taken care of. The whole staff is amazing and sweet. Amazing dentist over all.

I am so beyond frustrated. Overall, my experience with this office had been positive. However, after this morning, I will be finding a new dentist. I received a text message confirming my two kids appointment at 8:30am and when I showed up the incredibly unhelpful staff member at the front desk let me know that my appointment was actually at 8am. I showed her the text messages and she was completely unsympathetic, acting like it was my fault and basically told me that I should have known the appointment was at 8am. At that point, I said, "It's really misleading to send a confirmation text for the wrong time but it's fine we'll just do the one appointment at 8:30am this morning and reschedule the other" and she told me that both of my appointments were at 8am so we had missed both appointments... even though I had received text confirmations for both appointments at 8:30am. It's one thing to have a bunk system that is sending out wrong information, it is another thing to have rude staff that get defensive. No thanks. Oh, and btw, they like to send you a bill for the entire amount and threaten to send you to collections while they take their sweet time billing your insurance (which PS covers the entire cost of the visit in our case). I called concerned and was told to ignore the bill as it was auto-generated while insurance is being billed. Not cool.

Hello everyone, my daughter and I had an amazing experience at this office with Dr. Chan, he is absolutely phenomenal. He has excellent bedside manners , and is amazing at what he does. Just a little background my daughter is special needs and Dr. Chan is the only doctor in the Reno area that will even take care of our special needs kiddos. I was referred to him and he took her on without a problem and made sure she got the dental work that she needed ASAP- ( and she needed extensive work under anesthesia). I would recommend him to everyone! He is EXCELLENT and truth be told I wish he could see adults . Our family Loves Him. THANK YOU DR. CHAN!!!!

Best dental experience ever. It was my daughters first ever dental appointment and she did so good because the Dr and staff were so welcoming. Dr Michael is such a sweet and caring person and my daughter felt very comfortable with her. We Definitely recommend this place and will be taking all of our kids there.

I wish I would've given a review sooner!! Dr. Chan and the staff are simply amazing and can't thank them enough for everything they do for my children. Especially my youngest son who is quite the difficult patient. They all deserve more than 5 stars!!! They are all the most caring, sincere, professional dentist office I've ever taken my kids to! I have referred so many families to their office and I will continue to do so! Thank you THANK YOU Dr. Chan & staff for all you do for these kiddos
