Dr. Erik Rooklidge loves working with children and watching them grow up. His priority is giving your little ones a pleasant experience so theyll form a positive association with the dentist for years to come!
Dr. Rooklidge received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Utah and then went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Iowa in 2001. Additionally, he completed two years of specialty training in pediatric dentistry at the Eastman Dental Center/Strong Memorial Hospital at the University of Rochester.
Dr. Rooklidge is a board-certified pediatric dentist who can care for all children, including those with special needs. He dedicates himself to providing the best dental care possible for his patients, ensuring they have a comfortable and fun experience while learning to care for their own oral health.
After dental school, Dr. Bushell completed a pediatric dentistry residency at Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas, Texas, with additional training at the Childrens Medical Center of Dallas and the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children. He is proud to be a board-certified pediatric dentist who helps kids develop healthy, beautiful smiles.
Following his education, Dr. Bushell proudly served for eight years of active duty in the United States Army. He was stationed throughout the United States as well as for a tour of duty during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Dr. Mark Ward has been a proud member of the team at Dentistry for Children since 2012 but has a long-standing connection to Utah. He was born and raised in Layton and South Ogden, Utah, and graduated from Bonneville High School with academic honors in 1991.
After attending Brigham Young UniversityHawaii and the University of Iowa for his undergraduate degree, Dr. Ward then went on to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry, where he graduated with honors in 2001.
Then, returning to his home state of Utah, Dr. Ward spent two years as an associate dentist prior to establishing his own practice, Heritage Park Dental, in Layton City, Utah, in the spring of 2005. To ensure he remains ahead of the curve in his field, he completes continuing education courses each year, participates in dental seminars and keeps up with the latest dental journals.
In his family life, Dr. Ward loves to boat, water ski and travel as often as he can to locations where the sun shines. His favorite activities are spending time with his wife, Courtney, and their three children: Connor, Jenna and Brooke. He is always ready for a family adventure.

Dentistry for children has been so good to my family. My son is special needs and is very timid and doesn't listen well when prompted to do normal things the dentist requests but the dental assistants and Dr's at Dentistry for children have always been so patient and kind to him. He gets more willing to let them do the work each time we go and I'm grateful they are so professional and kind. We were worried my son also had a tongue tie that was missed and Dr. Rooklidge took his time to check him out even though my son made it difficult. Thank you so much for taking such good care of us!

My son needed a crown for a root canal that had been done prior to coming here. I ended up needing something different but this office and doctor were so awesome that Im considering coming here for my son's general care instead of his current dentist. Had a great experience here.

My kids love Dr. Rooklidge and his team at Dentistry for Children, Sandy. When we started going here it was my children's first times going to the dentist...they were both so nervous, but the team there knows exactly how to work with kids to ease their anxiety. Friendly staff, that make the kids feel welcome and safe.

Great pediatric dentist! My kids are always excited to go to this office. They have movies to watch on the ceiling while your teeth are being cleaned, video games in the lobby, prizes after you're done. Not to mention the very friendly and welcoming staff! The dentists and hygienists do a great job in making it a positive experience.

Very kind and accommodating staff. I walked through while nursing my baby in a sling, the office staff helped answer my questions and filled my paperwork out for me since I was calming my baby. My son has some anxiety and this was first time at a dentist. he had an extraction and a filling, and he had a great experience!

One of the best children's dentistry experiences we've ever had! The care from each individual (from the front desk to the dental assistants to the dentist and back to the front desk) was amazing, and all of my children want to go back :) NOTE: We live in Iowa full-time, and travel to Utah a few times per year for family and work. This was our first apt with this dentist (based on a local referral), and we'll be scheduling our trips and dental apts to coincide from now on so we can continue care here. INFORMED DECISIONS- The front desk greeted us kindly, and made sure we knew the costs before going back (two children with insurance and one without insurance). They ASKED rather than assumed what we wanted to do when considering costs and allowed to decide for our family (and our budget). CATERED TO EACH CHILD- The dental assistants were so good with each of my children (11, 7, 3)- spoken to and explained to in age appropriate language and tone, treated respectfully, interacted with using age appropriate language and ton (more mature for my older 2, simpler and more "silly" for my youngest). There were many options catered to helping children be comfortable and have an enjoyable experience - fun and colorful walls, movies at each chair, fun flavors to choose from (currently fruit, cupcake, and mint). Each of my children had their own unique experience with a trend of happy and clean teeth. NEW EXPERIENCE- They were absolutely great with my youngest, even when she was difficult (didn't want to open her mouth or show her teeth, they spent time letting her see & feel the tools, they played with her letting her tickle her fingers and her own teeth with the brush and water, they let her wear the cool sunglasses.) Thanks to their kindness and patience, not only did she get her first cleaning ever (even though this is the third time she's been in a dentists chair), but she had a fun experience (rather than a traumitizing one). REASONABLE COST- We ended up paying for one child's full exam completely out of pocket because of an issue on our end with our insurance. Even with this, the cost was completely reasonable- not so low that I questioned the care or products being used, and not so high that I would have to change our finances for the rest of the month to make up for it. (Our two children who had insurance ended up being covered 100%, so no out of pocket cost.) With or without insurance we will be able to keep up on regular apts for all 3 children because the costs are so reasonable. OVERALL- We highly recommend this dental office, all the way around. When the kids are happy then the parents are happy, and when the parents are happy then the kids are happy. This office makes us all happy.

They were very kind and gentle with my daughter. She left with a big smile and so did I. 2nd visit and they're so nice! She always leaves smiling and happy. Great staff and doctors! Dr Rooklidge and the nurses are excellent! 3rd visit a few days ago and still loving these guys! My daughter isn't afraid to go here. She actually looks forward to it! These guys are amazing!
