My son has gone to this practice since he was in preschool. We had been using another dentist when my son's front tooth turned grey. Our dentist told me that his tooth had to be extracted and that he would be without a front tooth for several years. I ended up getting a 2nd opinion from Dr. Gary, who advised that if it was his son, he would try to do a mini root canal (something that my former dentist hadn't even suggested). Fortunately, he was able to save the tooth, and my son lost it only when the adult one was ready to come in. Over the years, we only had positive interactions with the front desk staff, hygienists, and dentists there. The rooms are fun and inviting, with different themes in each room. My son was very comfortable in the office, developed excellent dental habits, and never had a cavity. Even though he is 21 now, and it's time for him to move to an adult dental practice, he would still rather go there. I wanted to leave a review as a thanks for all of the wonderful years!

I just wanted to take a moment to say....now that my girls are young adults and have moved on from Dr. Gary's practice that we have had the best experience possible in the 17 or so years we've been going to his office. I can't recommend him more highly. He is always available and his staff is great. A little anecdote...when my younger one was about two or three she slipped down some stairs and lost a baby tooth prematurely. We were in a panic (as new parents often are) and called Dr Gary after hours. He didn't hesitate. He opened his office just for us and popped the tooth back in. Really amazing. Thanks Dr. Gary for your many years caring for my girls!

I've been going to this dentist since '98. From the positive environment once you step foot into that office to interacting with a staff. Dr.Heitzler has incredible people working for him that are so dedicated to providing the best service and make you feel comfortable but most importantly...apart of the family! To parents out there that are looking for a dentistry for kids, this is the best place to go in westchester county

My daughter Stephanie has been Dr. Gary's patient since she was a baby. Dentistry for Children has provided extraordinary healthcare service to my child from 3 years to her being a teenager. The staff along with Dr. Gary's professional associates take the time to understand my daughter's needs and provide the best treatment for her. We are extremely satisfied with the attentiveness the doctors give to our family. The environment Dr. Gary has created throughout these years make us feel like there is no better dental office like Dentistry for Children!! I highly recommend Dr. Gary's practice, the service and care he provides for the community is incomparable!

STRONG WARNING!!! Dr. Gary Heitzler's practice should be avoided at all costs. His dentistry and patient care is horrendously negligent and his business practices are abhorrent. Our story demonstrates his failures in both areas. My 8 year old son went to Dr. Heitzler's office for a normal cavity. A young, recently graduated dentist (Dr Heitzler hires recent dental school grads, but does not show up at the office on most days, and runs this office and others merely as profit centers) put a cap on the tooth on a Wednesday. What should have been a standard everyday procedure caused a significant amount of pain. When we went back have it checked on Thursday, another young dentist in Dr. Heitzler's office suggested that "he would get used to it," and "if he was still in pain Monday (Three days later!) to back to the office to have it checked again." For this follow-up, they charged us $100, which is unethical and is no way to run a business - (think about your car and if the mechanic claimed a problem was fixed, you paid him and it wasn't fixed, you would expect him to re-do the work to make it right for no cost). On Friday, my son's face had swelled enormously on both sides of his face. Panicked, we sought out another dentist. When he looked at the tooth, he was angry and horrified at the quality of the dentistry! He was even more angry that Dr. Heitzler's office put off the follow up for 3 days when a patient complains of pain, and said that he himslf would return from a vacation in this situation to attend to the patient. He said the cap was too big and not sealed. There was major infection and he sent us immediately to an oral surgeon to have the tooth extracted. The tooth was extracted, but it was too late. The infection had spread to his bloodstream, and he spent the next 2 days with a 102-103 degree fever. I spoke with Dr. Heitzler about this situation. He could not have been more arrogant! At no point did he take responsibility or offer any concern for my son's condition. Instead, he bloviated about how his practice is great and the dentists he hires are top quality. He refused to drop his fees for either visit, or to pay for the second dentist and the oral surgeon. (What a money grubber...) To make matters worse, but in accordance with all his other failings, he hung up the phone on me... We will be filing a formal complaint with the NYS department of Professional Misconduct Enforcement and the NYS Department of Health. Heitzler is a hukster. If you care for your children's well-being, which I know you do, I recommend that you run away from this practice as fast as you can.
