Dr. Sultan was raised in East Lyme, CT. After completing his Connecticut public grade school education, Dr. Sultan went on to become an avid UCONN Huskies fan while completing a bachelors degree in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Sultan went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) at the University of Connecticut-School of Dental Medicine, while concurrently completing his Masters of Sciences in Biomaterials in Biomedical Engineering in Farmington, CT. Dr. Sultan completed his pediatric dental residency training at Connecticut Childrens Medical Center in Hartford, CT (affiliated with the University of Connecticut-School of Dental Medicine), where he received extensive training in treating medically compromised patients, treating patients with special health care needs, sedation, trauma, general anesthesia, and interceptive orthodontics.
Dr. Sultans easy-going personality makes going to the dentist fun and stress-free. He strives in providing an atmosphere of positive dental health experiences for children and parents. His focus on preventative care helps his patients have a healthy smile that will last a lifetime. He has and continues to provide his time in educating children in the importance of oral health, but also helping the underserved populations. He has volunteered in multiple programs: Connecticut Mission of Mercy, Give Kids a Smile, Dental Service Trips (Paraguay), where he has provided free dental care for patients in need of treatment. Because of these qualities, Dr. Sultan was voted as a Top Dentist in Connecticut for 2016 and continues to be voted NJ Favorite Kids Doc. Dr. Sultan is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry (ABPD); in addition, he is an active member of the American Dental Association (ADA), and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD).
Dr. Sultan is married to his loving wife, Sonia, and runs everywhere after his son, Esa. During his days off not cleaning kids teeth, he enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and learning more chords on his ukulele.
Dr. Rupali Shah is committed to providing the highest level of orthodontic care to her patients and truly enjoys working with patients of all ages. Dr. Shah grew up in East Hartford, CT, and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Science degree in Molecular Biology. She received her D.D.S. degree in 2011 from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine and then went on to complete her orthodontic residency in 2013 at the Eastman Institute for Oral Health at the University of Rochester. She is a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Northeastern Society of Orthodontists, and the American Dental Association. After spending several years practicing in New York and Connecticut, Dr. Shah is excited to join the team at Dentistry for Children.
Aside from orthodontics, Dr. Shah enjoys dancing, biking, being outdoors during the summer, and traveling. She is also a huge sports fan, so youll often find her watching the UConn Huskies or the Dallas Cowboys.

Dr Sultan and the whole staff are truly amazing. They are all very skilled, very calm and patient - and have clearly worked hard to create an environment that accommodates and welcomes children of all abilities. My special needs (& very anxious) daughter's fear melted away. It seemed nothing short of miraculous!

My expectations were met completely today by visiting Dentistry for Children in Clifton. My pre-teen daughter went to the dentist for the first time and she's looking forward to her next appointment. The staff is awesome and the atmosphere was very welcoming.

My 6yo and I were both extremely nervous about having his tooth pulled. Dr. Sultan and his team knew exactly how to make the situation a smooth transaction. It was rough at times when my son was crying but at dfc smiles they are trained professionals. They know exactly what to say and how to make it a great experience for us. I am so grateful for them.

Today was my first time here for my son's tongue tie consultation. Let me tell you, this has got to be the most beautiful, cleanest dentist office I've ever seen. The decor is colorful which is fun for kids and the staff is friendly and cheerful. I was seen sharp at my appointment time with zero wait. What impressed me the most, however, was that Dr. Sultan took his time evaluating my son and explaining in detail the issue, the resolution, and the aftercare necessary for my son's procedure. Never has a doctor spent so much time and shown so much care during my appointments. This place is 45 mins from me and it was so worth the drive.

Dr. Hassam Sultan is by far the BEST dentist. He takes his time to make sure you understand what he's doing. His work is PHENOMENAL. I am extremely happy with the choice I've made in bringing my 2, 4, and 16 year old to this office. The entire staff is super nice, the office is clean, and very welcoming.

Great place to take special needs kids, they were very prepared for the visit and were outstanding accommodating my child. I cant believe the visit took 20 min. Im impressed. :)

Always so attentive, helpful and friendly staff. They are so great with my son who has bad anxiety when it comes to the dentist. They go above and beyond to make him feel safe and comfortable very single visit here. To Dr Sultan and Staff we thank you for your impeccable services! :) My son no longer is afraid of the dentist.

Friendly staff, appointments are ALWAYS on time , explains things in detail and always has updated technology to keep kids engaged. I have been going here for about 16 years now and my kids still love coming to the dentist

Dr Sultan and friends are the best! The waiting room is kid-friendly and keeps everyone safely engaged while we check-in. The design is stimulating and encourages exploration of the space - a sensory experience for those seeking the need! The information system streamlined on the tablet is a high-tech time saver for parents! Easy to make an appointment with the friendly office staff. Usually wait time is under 10 minutes!! Knowledgeable, kind and enthusiastic hygienists make each appointment a win for the kids. TV on the ceiling at every exam chair is a bonus as well. Always willing to go the extra mile for the uneasy patient too. Pressure-free and fun - we couldn't be happier to have DFC in our lives :)

All three of my have been going to see Dr. Sultan for many years. 2 of my children are non-verbal and autistic. They a lot of anxiety when going to any doctor's office. Dr. Sultan and his staff have always gone out of their way to make them feel safe and treat them with kindness. Ultimately all three of my enjoy going to the dentist because of Dr. Sultan and his staff. He is very patient and stays abreast of all new innovations in the dental practice. My youngest son even wants to become a dentist because of Dr. Sultan!

My daughter is 2 years and usually cries for any medical visit. She felt comfortable and calm in the office. The doctor was amazing! I'm so thankful for their care, patience, and professionalism. I highly recommend them.
